It appears to cater to hikers and backpackers, with lots of hiking maps and brochures in the lobby. We had a private room and bathroom, perfect for a two night stay in Killarney where we were out exploring all day. Towels are provided, but you'll have to bring everything else (like shampoo and soap). The location is a short walking distance to restaurants, bars, and shopping, as well as a short drive to Killarney National Park. You can't park your car right at the hostel, but we were directed to a church parking lot about a 10 minute walk away. The Wi-Fi is really spotty and comes in when it wants. It seems to work the best in the lobby, off and on in room 501, and so-so in the kitchen. Do it yourself toast, cereal, and coffee or tea for breakfast is included with your room stay. There are also do it yourself dishes. The kitchen has a large fridge for guests' food, which was helpful as we packed lunches both days we were there. It isn't the quietest place; walls are thin and you can hear doors slamming throughout the building. On our second night there was a rowdy group of 12 year old boys screaming up and down the hallways between 10 and 11 at night. Neptune's isn't luxurious, but it's decent and affordable.

We got a private room with a double bed and a private bathroom and it was clean and cozy. It wasn't noisy and I got a good night's sleep both nights we stayed there. The common areas include a kitchen, lounge area with an internet computer and library, and we were there in the early part of the season, so it was pretty empty most of the time. The breakfast was AMAZING. So. much. food. We had just stayed at a hostel in Cork where breakfast was all you can eat toast, so this was just about the most exciting thing ever. There was cereal and milk, yogurt, toast, juice, etc. We went away stuffed and met some very interesting people while eating. My only complaint is that we had booked the hostel from our other hostel in Cork (the desk clerk called over for us), and we had requested a less-nice i.e. cheaper room than the one we were given. I would have taken a free upgrade, but they charged us for the nicer room. We were too tired when we checked in to argue about it, but I would advise people to pay attention to what you agreed to when you book and what they actually charge you. Still, if you're going to Killarney, I highly recommend this place.

TBSH felt like a home hostel than anything else…read more Not many reviews which is a no no when deciding a place to stay but TBSH certainly upon walk-in is a great place to stay. Everything is new. Even the owner is still nailing signs to the decor. A beautiful lounge area and spacious kitchen which leads to both a staircase to the sleeping area and in outdoor idea for relax and acts like a garden too. Chicken in the back provide the eggs for breakfast. But your here for the dorm recommendations. The 8 person room (private is available) is great. Still new and the beds are comfortable and warm think sheets. Each space has their own light and 2 power points for charging and alone time with strong wifi to come with. The showers and toilets are clean daily with locks within the rooms. Sharing Showers available too. When arrive you go through all the usual rules. But what's cool is that your placed in a room with people speak your language (I was placed in the Australia room). Kinda genius. Female only and mixed dorms. Breakfast is basic and plenty of Cafes short walk. Coffee still isn't great in Killarney. 5/5 for the hostel. Mark My Words

The showers looked brand new and were very nice. My first night, I had three roommates. My second night, I had one roommate but they never came back to the room that night and I ended up having the whole room to myself! The beds are comfortable and duvets are thick. However, the beds do not have privacy curtains as is advertised. I would have loved to have a privacy curtain. I think some rooms might have them, but mine didn't. Each bed has its own electrical outlet, though. And each room has its own sink and mirror, which was very useful. The breakfast buffet was cereal, toast with many different spreads, fruit, coffee, tea, and sometimes eggs. It was perfect for a free breakfast. The living are was so cozy and every night there was a fire in the fireplace. I felt very safe here and nothing was stolen from me by the other guests. I have to say, this staff was so accommodating. It unfortunately rained so hard all day during my trip that I decided to cancel my last night staying at the hostel. They allowed me to do this with a full refund, since it was 24 hours in advance. This is not your typical hostel. This is a converted hotel, so the rooms are hotel rooms with bunk…read morebeds and all have a private bathroom, which is great! You even have your own key to your private room. The under-storage has the capability to have a lock put on it, however, it's a wire basket type, so you still need to be very careful. The common areas are fairly large. The kitchen area is a great place to cook, if you are staying for a while. Breakfast includes bread/toast with butter and jam, tea, and juice. Coffee is extra so bring your Euros. They do provide towels, however, those are 2E each. The rooms are large and very clean. The front desk is only manned during the day, so if you come in at night, you will have to ring the bell and sign in with the maintenance crew. The lady that worked the front desk while we were there was very friendly and very helpful. If you are looking for a typical hostel, where people congregate and chat, this hostel is not where you will find it.

Stay in a more expensive place, then!!" argument that people throw around when anyone complains about the shortcomings of budget accommodation. Yet, everything in the central area of Cork City is just a short walk away. The hostel also provides great views of Cork, and the building itself has a lot of character. It is not utilitarian as many other hostels are. The walls are painted vibrant colors and the architecture has a very rustic feel. It is decorated in a colorful manner that felt energizing. It really felt like what you would expect from a hostel. The employees were not the most helpful and seemed to get a kick out of messing with the American tourists. One of them was downright rude. We wound up having to go up and down from our room 3 times because they told us to pick beds and every time we did they told us to pick new beds because those were already taken. It was rather annoying. What was really annoying was that come midnight, there were still only 4 of us in the room and almost all the beds we had tried to pick were still empty! The rooms did include their own restrooms and showers, which was nice. There was also a decent view from our window and the beds were comfortable enough. Anywho. The kitchen was decent enough but the burners for the stove wouldn't light properly. There wasn't very much storage space available but at least the fridge wasn't a complete disaster. The dining are was ridiculously huge and come breakfast it was crawling with people from the hostel. If you have social anxiety or simply don't like people, skip breakfast.

This hostel was only built and opened in 2005, and it's still in fantastic condition…read more It provides double rooms with ensuites, double rooms with shared bathrooms, family rooms (double bed and bunks), twin rooms, and 'dorm' rooms (a twin room shared with someone of the same gender). Prices were respectable, and the facilities were perfect. Access to the common areas is 24hour, constant hot water and heating in all rooms. There's a sitting room with TV, DVD player and some movies, pay internet and two large self-catering kitchen/dining areas. I also saw a payphone and there were lots of brochures in the main dining room. Rooms must be paid for on arrival and they accept cash and cards. Check-in is between 4pm and 8pm and check out is at 10am. No breakfast is provided, but there is a small foodstore, cafe and restaurants in the village. There is lots of parking and it's only a 5 minute walk to the main street of the village. There are no laundry facilities at the hostel, but I heard the community centre in the village does laundry. There's no ATM in the village, and the staff were happy to organise a trip to the Skelligs for me, which was fantastic. I'd recommend it, it was the best hostel I stayed at while I was in Ireland.

During the day, the kitchen is used for the attached tearoom. I couldn't access the kitchen until after 7pm. In addition, the fridge and freezer were locked so I couldn't even store my food properly. Complimentary breakfast was only one piece of Tesco white bread toast and a tea. It was a bit difficult checking in since there's no reception desk, but I found the manager or owner in the kitchen after asking around. There's not much security as the entrance door and door room were unlocked at all times. The 10-bed ensuite dorm contained a bathroom. Unfortunately, the room was fully booked so there were wait times to use the restroom. The wifi was weak past the second floor. The one positive is its location in the town center. Overall, I'd recommend staying elsewhere if you're in Tralee, like the Castle Hostel ( https://www.yelp.com/biz/castle-hostel-tralee ).

The curfew is 4am but I got issued a key since I was staying 2 nights. Like almost all hostels, the staff are basically volunteers who work in exchange for free accommodation. There's no formal reception area, but you can find staff in the kitchen. The hostel is located close to the National Park entrance and the city center and walking distance to the train and bus stations. I booked on HostelWorld a 12-bed mix dorm for €10 a night and got assigned a 10-bed dorm room. Only two bathrooms were available. Unfortunately the showers are not separate from the toilets so people have to wait until someone finishes showering to use the toilet. There was a particularly strong moldy smell in the bathroom next to the DVD room. Only two electrical outlet strips in the room, and no lockers to secure your valuables. Luggage storage isn't secure as it's stored in an open space underneath the staircase, and I was told you cannot retrieve your luggage 2-4pm as the hostel will be closed. Check-out time is 11am. Wi-fi was inconsistent and cut in and out. Wi-fi signal was weak in the dorm rooms and kitchen, is strongest in the DVD room. Luckily, I had data with my Irish SIM card. Like most UK and Irish hostels, free coffee and tea. Surprisingly for the price, there's a free basic breakfast of toast and cereals in the morning. Kitchen was a decent size with 8 burners and a free food shelf. The kitchen closes between 2-4pm and at 10pm and the DVD room closes 11pm. If the price wasn't so low, I would've rated this hostel lower. But if you're looking for a cheap place to sleep, it's not a bad choice.

It is not in the heart of Dingle city, and it is very deceiving on the listing. It's actually located in a town called Annascaul. We were so far away from Dingle and there was not much to do near the hostel. Luckily, there is a pub next door. I had fun, but know of a few people who thought the karaoke bar in a hostel was a bad idea. That being said, I consider €12.00 for a 6 bed (they don't have doubles here) a good deal. In addition, I don't think this place has much competition from other hostels due to its remote location. Nice staff, VERY cheap, free breakfast, authentic Ireland.... you can't ask for more than that.
