I don't even know where to begin when reviewing this hostel. This hostel turned an exceptionally…read morestressful trip into an elongated peaceful retreat. We have absolutely nothing but nice things to say about this hostel and it shall forever be one of my fondest memories of Ireland. The manager was a young American expat who was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. He gave us a tour of the hostel and tried to help us in any way possible. He even let us use his laptop to book things for our upcoming trip to Wales! We had many enjoyable conversations with him and he truly made us feel welcome in Dingle. The hostel itself is unbelievably welcoming and homey. It felt less like a hostel and more like visiting grandmas house, in a good way! The communal lounge has outlets, couches, plenty of games, and best of all a fireplace that is lit every evening. Playing board games by the fire with a nice cup of tea is the perfect way to end your day in my opinion. The kitchen was small but well equipped and laid out in a useable fashion. There were two small refrigerators and an entire shelf dedicated to free food. The hostel provides toast and jam in the morning, which doesn't help me much since I have a gluten intolerance, but my partner greatly enjoyed it. Waking up to the smell of toast was nice as well! The manager, Cole, could be found cooking up something delicious at all hours of the day. We prepared some tasty meals ourselves and shared with some of the other guests. It truly felt like one big family! The bedrooms were cozy enough. Not too many beds and plenty of outlets so there was no fighting to charge your devices! The beds were comfortable enough and our room had its own toilet and shower which was nice. There is a back patio for people that smoke but since we don't we did not use it for the entirety of our stay. Originally we were going to be there for just one night but we loved it so much we booked a second and even considered a third. The hostel is very centrally located in the small town of Dingle and easy to find. I definitely recommend this hostel even though it is a bit more expensive than the other ones in the area. It is worth it to feel so at home!

Parking is tight in back but there's additional parking up front. We didn't have towels so we weren't able to shower and we didn't use the kitchen so can't comment on that, other than someone cooked fish and it stunk up the whole hostel.

The Rainbow Hostel comprises a large building with dorms and private rooms, but also space for tents (€10 pppn). We chose this latter option, which still includes access to showers, kitchen, and electricity. It was also nice to be able to leave our tent and gear at the site whilst we explored the town's nightlife. Staff were friendly and helpful at all times. The toilet and shower block was a bit dirty, unfortunately, and we were woken late at night by some very loud people in another tent. It would be nice for there to be a staff member operating at night to keep noise down so people can sleep. In an excellent perk that we only discovered at the last minute, the hostel provides a free shuttle service to connect with buses leaving from town, avoiding the need of having to hike with full pack along the main road into town. Overall, would recommend for a cheap and cheerful place to stay.
