It's a gym and I'm glad they have child care when working out. First gym I've been to that has a no cell phone rule while working out lol.

I've gone to this YMCA for years. They've done so many building additions, and equipment add-ons that it looks brand new now! Much roomier!

I love it there but the gym becomes packed at times and lacks a few types of machines such as a smith machine!

I use to go to the gym all the time. I previously went to the one in Landstown Commons in Virginia…read moreBeach. That gym was perfect as the amount of people never made it feel like I was packed in like a sardine. I will say this gym has different equipment and is a bit bigger which is nice because it has a plethora of machines that work multiple muscles. However, depending on the time of day, good luck using them. As I said the downside is that the gym can be packed at times. I am one of those people who like to put in their headphones / earbuds and just do my work out. But it seems that many people socialize and gather around the equipment and don't utilize the machines for periods of time. We have tried going several times throughout the days. The early morning crowd can get pretty loud for 4AM/5AM, to the point where I can hear people through my headphones. The 6/7 PM crowd is PACKED. It feels like there is not much room. The sweet spot is late at night where there are anywhere from 3-10 people. Ultimately, I think if another gym opens up in the area that is 24 hours, I may look into that option. As of right now, this gym seems to be the only 24 hour one in the area. (Or I have to do more research)

I'll give this spot a high rating simply for the staff…read more I had some questions about the facility and did not have time to work out or was prepared to sign up yet I just wanted to know pricing and what was offered you know I was shocked how easy going the staff were and super happy to help me they did not give me the crazy long advertisement speech or pressure me to sign up today in fact they offered me a free visit which I may take them up on in the future

Let me start by saying my family and I are so thankful for Tiger Academy Suffolk! The staff is…read moreamazing--kind, caring, and truly passionate about teaching kids. They don't just teach skills, they pour love and encouragement into each child. When my son first started, he struggled with confidence, staying focused, and even with friendships at times. In just a year, we've seen such a beautiful change. Now he speaks with confidence, looks people in the eye, shows respect, and has grown into a real leader among his friends. What means the most to me is how the staff supports him when things get tough. They always lift him up and remind him that he can do hard things. That kind of encouragement makes all the difference. I would recommend this location to any family. Mr. Hunter and Coach Alicia are absolutely phenomenal. Their dedication to the kids is a true blessing, and it feels like such a breath of fresh air.

We brought our almost-4-year-old in for a test assessment. Unfortunately, the experience was…read moreextremely disappointing. TLDR: they do not know how to work with small children. From the moment we arrived, the interaction felt cold, rigid, and overly abrasive for a nervous preschooler in a brand-new environment. Instructions were delivered very quickly and in a very directive "barking orders" style without any effort to connect with him first, explain the plan, model the expectation, or help him feel comfortable and regulated before expecting immediate compliance. The directions given were too fast and too complex for a small brain to comprehend. At this age, many children need warmth, modeling, repetition, and time to transition into a new setting, especially when they are excited or overwhelmed. I explained multiple times that he takes a little while to warm up and that we are currently in occupational therapy working on regulation, body awareness, and focus. Instead of adjusting their approach or showing more patience, the response remained very rigid and dismissive. There did not seem to be any attempt to build rapport, make him feel safe, or set him up for success. At one point, after I finally helped him complete the task they wanted him to do, we were told that wouldn't count because he followed the directions from me and not the instructor. After expressing frustration with the instructor, I was then passed to another instructor, and that interaction unfortunately felt even more uncomfortable. His tone, facial expressions, and questioning came across as condescending, smug, and unwilling to help rather than collaborative or supportive. I completely understand that martial arts requires structure and discipline, and I was not expecting chaos or unlimited flexibility. However, there is a difference between structure and a lack of patience, warmth, and age-appropriate communication. Young children, especially those still developing regulation and body awareness, need instructors who know how to connect with them before expecting perfect compliance. The overall experience left me feeling deeply uncomfortable. The instructors' demeanor toward my child felt harsh, impatient, and completely lacking in warmth or understanding for his age and developmental stage. I walked away feeling that this was not an environment where my child would be emotionally supported or set up for success.
