Suddenlink changed their name to Optimum. They did not change anything other than their name. I am still paying the same price for service, I have the same modem as before they changed their name, and they do not offer the fastest speed quality for the money. read more

Please avoid these criminals at all cost. They consistently raise their rates while the outages become more frequent and when you call you get the run around and hung up on. When you try and cancel the offer discounts on other services you don't even have and will continue bill you for a month beyond the date you canceled all services. This company has terrible customer service and offers extremely overpriced and unreliable services. read more

You have better luck and reliability with carrier pidgeons. This is the worst internet I have ever had. Suddenlink has a monopoly in my area. In three years, they have never managed to keep a regular, high-speed internet connection for more than two weeks. We are regularly without internet for two days at a time. They are down more than 4 weeks a year. We started 2022 without internet for 10 of 14 days. Their customer service makes you worry about the future of humanity. They price like they are top shelf whiskey and perform like a can of half-drunk PBR with a cigarette in it. read more

I had very limited service for the last three weeks. I've had to call nearly every day, have had three techs come out, have lost work, and used all my mobile data to establish a hot spot just to make it to conference calls and zoom meetings. The customer service is awful. I have been hung up on, been told I was being transferred to a supervisor - just to be put back into a queue. I had an appointment arranged from 8am - 11am, which I had to rearrange appointments etc to accommodate. At 11:30am I called as my technician had not arrived, only to find out they moved my appointment to 10am - 8pm, without being notified. They had me wait all day and stated if I missed the technician, I would be charged $60. And after all of this, I still have no internet service and was told the most they could do for me is give me a $20 credit. Horrible service. Highly recommend taking your business somewhere else, as we have done. read more

If there were zero stars that would be too many. I have spent hours on the phone with them trying to find out why I can't set up my voicemail as a new customer. Also signed up for a package in which many stations I can't receive. The technician over the phone tried to trouble shoot however because of her incompetence turned off the signal.. Now I have to wait almost a week for a technician to come out to fix. Since their billing department is closed on Sunday, I will have to wait to cancel my television service with them. I had heard their customer service was the worst, but experiencing it first hand is horrible. read more

This company, now called Optimum, is garbage. There local cable plant, per a field tech, is extremely old. Secondarily, they have outsourced their technical support, and while most are courteous, the first tier are quite untrained. Frankly, every time it rains here (norcal), I get nervous that my internet will fail. Ugh. read more

If I could leave zero stars I would. Suddenlink is my parents only option for internet where they live. My parents live in a rural area without cell phone service or land lines and so Suddenlink is their only way to reach the outside world in case of an emergency. Back in March Suddenlink shut off their service for two weeks without any explanation. I called their support several times on my parents' behalf only to be told that a tech would be dispatched the next day. The tech would never arrive. Suddenlink had no explanation for this either. After nearly two weeks of calling a tech finally arrived at my parents house and said "Oh yeah service had been turned off to this area for a couple days while Suddenlink was working on the line. Looks like they forgot to turn service back on for your home." How is it that the tech knew about the lines being worked and yet no one from their support department was able to relay this information? My parents were without service for two weeks! What if there had been a fire at their home? They wouldn't have been able to call out to emergency services for help. Suddenlink is absolute trash. I wouldn't wish their "service" upon my worst enemy. After this incident I reported them to the FCC. read more

Worst experience ever. Technician never showed up to install then comes 6 hours later and leaves a tag on my door that I wasn't home and I would be charged. Next available appt 7 days out. Called to complain and they said they would send tech out next day to install and guess what...Never showed up AGAIN!! Called again to complain and they told me the appts are guaranteed. What a nightmare. Avoid at all cost!! read more

Like the other reviewers before me, I would give SuddenLink zero stars if possible. Abysmal customer service. And yes, if you start complaining about anything, the "customer service" agents will happily hang up on you. We live in Alta Sierra, Grass Valley, and pay $85/mo for their 150 mbps package. We purchased our own modem and scheduled a service call to ensure it is hooked up properly. They called today to advise the service call fee would be $60. We immediately cancelled. Shortly after, I was on the phone with a rep for about an hour to activate the new router remotely and she said her connection was slow so she would call me back. She actually did call me back (an hour late) but I was unable to pick up (I work). If the new router is not ready to go when I return home this evening, we will cancel and go with Smarter Broadband. Also, one of SuddenLink's more brazen customer service reps has been calling my husband's cell phone 2-3 times each evening (including on the weekend) and like a robot, repeats that our issue has been escalated. We had (had) an appointment. Why does it need to be escalated?? I called to report this to a manager and the rep, who I could barely understand through his mumbling, said his supervisor was busy. Seriously?! If anyone wants to initiate a group settlement, let me know. I think this company knows it can make $$$ more a month by pretending to help customers who purchase their own routers in order to save millions over the years. Their CEO should be canned immediately. #saveusat&t #saveusstarlink #suckitsuckinlink read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. The WORST internet and customer service. Suddenly you have internet, Suddenly you don't. If you have the option, stay far car away read more

So after weeks of no internet, Suddenlink finally came through and hooked up our internet. The folks on the phone are helpful but the communication between the office and the field still needs work. That said, Suddenlink is still the best choice in our area. The fiber optic cable is the fastest with the most gigs. read more

Suddenlink really sucks and they don't even care. Because they are about the only one in this area (Clipper Gap) they don't care what kind of customer service they have. Every time it rains up here the internet goes down. Now they just raised my rate by $20 and paying $85 for crappy service. You try to call them and it rings about 30 times before they even pick up. Once they pick up and you start complaining they'll just hang up on you. Need to start a class action law suit against them. read more

DON'T USE SUDDENLINK I had an install scheduled a Triple Play Order for 8-1-20 between 9:00am and 11:00am. While driving to the install location at 8:10am I received a text that the Tech was at my house. One minute later I was turning onto my street and a Suddenlink truck was leaving. I stopped him and asked if he was coming from my address, He said "No" and took off. I called Suddenlink and they said that the Tech hadn't coded the install yet and they would send him back. At 4:00pm I called back and was told that the Tech had gone back and nobody was home again. There were three of us at the house ALL DAY LONG, with 3 cars in the driveway and the garage door open. Suddenlink said that they could reschedule for 8-18-20, I asked to speak to a Supervisor and after being put on hold for a few minutes was told that the Supervisor said that was the best they could do. I hung up! I called Dish Network and scheduled a Video install for the next day. Five minutes after the Dish Tech arrived I received a call from Suddenlink saying that they could do the install on 8-12-20 between 1:00pm and 5:00pm. I changed the order to a Voice Data and I accepted the new date. On Saturday 8-12-20 I was home all day, at 5:00pm I called Suddenlink since the Tech hadn't arrived and was told he had been stuck on a job and would either call me or be at my address within 15 minutes. At 9:00pm I still hadn't been contacted. Monday morning 8-14-20 I contacted ATT and scheduled a DSL and Voice order for Wed. morning 8-16-20. I contacted Suddenlink online to cancel the order. On 9-2-20 I noticed that Suddenlink had charged me for the full Triple Play install and a months worth of service. That has been canceled by contacting my Credit Card Company since when I contacted Suddenlink their system wouldn't let the representative get into it. Once again DON'T ORDER SERVICE WITH SUDDENLINK. I worked for GTE, Verizon and Frontier for 42 years and would have been fired if I treated customers like this!!!!! read more

Horrible internet speed. Definitely not worth what you're paying for. My cell phone got spot gets better more reliable service. There has to be another provider I can switch to read more

Waiting on a call as usual. I have had 8 appointments for install, still no cable or internet. They are the only one that services my neighborhood so I'm stuck. You can only talk to call center people in other countries. They keep scheduling someone to run the cable to the house but it never happens, then installers come and cant install. Of course for the month this has been going I have paid for service because I gave my credit card. Suddenlink is the worse customer service on the planet, they don't even care. If you're thinking about signing up for Suddenlink , DON'T ! I have tried to get in touch with them over an error in billing , no luck , 2 days and still trying, no luck. It's imperative for me to reach them as I don't want to have my credit tarnished but who do you turn to if you can't reach them ? I am seething at this time ! read more

This is the worst company ever. They have HORRIBLE customer service and raise rates just about every other month. Spotty service at best all day every day. I have not a a solid uninterrupted service day since I signed up, but they don't care. They know our only other option is in our area is AT&T DSL, which is painfully slow. I wish another company would come in and offer better service. Everyone in our area is dying for another option. Suddenlink SUCKS!!!!! read more

We have had Suddenlink as our internet provider for over 10 years. The customer service, if you're even able to get someone to answer after being on hold sometime as long as 1-2 hours. This is the norm for all subscribers, I know all of them in my area! Some have phone/tv and internet combined. The company doesn't have an office, locally, no one is responsible. Why does the FCC not look into this company's practices and owners? We're in a rural environment, Sierra foothills not many choices here. Suddenlink gets 1 star, they need to be responsive to all customers, they're not! read more

HORRIBLE! Only way to get them to respond is to file FCC and CPUC complaints. Even then they still don't follow up to try and resolve issue. Unfortunately -they are the only broadband option and they know it. Speed good and pricing not bad. Their customer service is horrible. They have no information and hang up on you. A call back from a Mgr is 48 hours, never happens. The entire neighborhood has been without internet/phone/TV for days and no information. After outages they raise your rates and no credit while their service was down Lackluster-Real bummer. read more

Suddenlink is the absolute worst company for internet that I have EVER had. Unfortunately we live in a rural area where we are very limited in providers so we had to use Suddenlink. I could go on and on with the problems that we have encountered with Suddenlink, but I just don't have the time. So briefly I will tell you that it took two weeks to get internet initially hooked up. There have been billing problems, customer service problem, and connection problems. Currently I am on the phone waiting to talk to someone in billing about a $10 charge for a modem that we are supposedly renting from Suddenlink. We have our own modem and have never used one of there's. I was told that the hold time will be about 20 minutes. I've been waiting for 90 minutes... Stay away from Suddenlink if at all possible!! read more

Suddenlink has closed their Grass Valley and Auburn offices. Possibly Truckee is now the closest office. I've been internet user at my present address since it was USAMedia, which eventually was sold to Suddenlink. USAMedia was great. Good service, few problems and fast customer service. Suddenlink raised their rates (naturally), and eventually sold to a French company Altice. Once that sale went through, their prices went up again and customer service has evaporated. I now pay $115 a month, $7 of which is guaranteed repairs, and $3 which is supposedly to improve service. It's been 6 weeks since I originally called to have my cable repaired. A tree had fallen on it. Since then, I have paid that $115 twice, and had 6 appointments. A tech responded to the first appointment an told me that it was a 2 man job. He rescheduled the appointment and clarified with dispatch and his Supervisor that it was a 2 man job. Nobody showed for that next appointment, and nobody called. I then proceeded to set up 3 more appointments over the intervening weeks and spoke to the call center supervisor. I was stood up every time and I've received no telephone call. I called again and set another appointment and the same Suddenlink Tech who showed the 1st time arrived and told me he still needed 2 men. He spoke at length to dispatch and again left an extensive message for his supervisor, and set another appointment. I waited from 8 am to 8 pm yesterday and nobody showed and nobody called. Today I once again called their call center and was told again that they would expedite the repair, and they sent a detailed message again explaining the problem, and scheduled another appointment for "next Wednesday", which is 9 days from now. Altice/Suddenlink is a horribly run business that not only has no inkling of customer service, but just continually lies to their customers, refuses to oass the problem to upper management, or supplying tel#s for the local repair supervisors while charging 3 times what you'd pay through any real internet provider. read more

We have Suddenlink for our TV Service & it's been out for over a week! There have been NO updates & when you call for assistance, they refuse to get you to a live agent. I even tried the "chat" option & even there, you can't get an actual person! It's very frustrating & the customer service is terrible! read more

Unfortunately I had a terrible and threatening interaction with a Suddenlink lineman while on duty in my neighborhood. The employee in question was shockingly belligerent and stated how he hated our whole community. I believe this employee is not representative of SL's values which is why I am not sharing more at this time. I did report the encounter to a SL manager and I am respectfully allowing Sr Mgmt to follow-up with me regarding the situation. Terrible! read more

Tech never showed....never called. Waited on hold for 3hours. Told them to cancel appt. Then they get all about customer service. What can we do to keep you? Etc...NOTHING. Decided to stay with ATT. They may be slow and spotty at times but at least they answer the phone. read more

Suddenlink now Optimum has to be the worst company out there. First of all their customer service is horrible. I've only had the service for a few months and I've had problems with their billing and service each month. Every time I call I get no help. They promise all these incentives to sign up but you are never rewarded with them. They keep telling you, "you will receive your credit" but in the end they find some excuse to not provide you with what you were offered to sign up. If you can go with another service I would suggest it or you will have a headache with this company. read more

I would give zero stars if that was an option. The company's customer service is absolutely pitiful. When you call they barely speak English and they do not know how to use a telephone. Customer service is constantly setting up appointments that they cannot keep and the technicians when they do show up admit that their customer service is awful. When there's an issue they're very slow to respond. We lost Internet almost a month ago and Suddenlink has missed five appointments and when they have shown up it is with the wrong equipment. They do not have enough trucks to even support this area. This is the worst company and I would steer clear from them at all costs. They know we are very limited with our Internet/cable options and they absolutely do not care. I finally got through to corporate and the guy promised that someone will be out with a bucket truck the following day and no one showed up. He called again and said that one someone will be out that same day and again no one showed up. I can't reiterate enough how bad this company is. read more

Is it the culture at Suddenlink to disconnect/hang up/ignore clients when you can't come up with an answer? One month in and I'm very much regretting my decision to sign up with you guys. I got a full bill within 2 days of installation, another bill 24 days later and my bill is "past due". The first bill included tv (which your tech said he wouldn't be able to install in my wall), so I cancelled that service and the 2nd bill is the exact same?! How does this make sense, especially that it omits the tv service in the 2nd bill. Then when I spend hours each week trying to get this resolved, I'm hung up on, ignored or "disconnected" ffrom your online service team and have to start all over with someone else. Is your internet so bad you can't even keep your own people connected? This is by far the worst customer service I've received on a consistent basis. read more

One star is too generous slow internet speeds in our area no eta on fix upload speed often drops below 1 150 mbps is best download speed we can get and frequently that drops too techs have told us equipment at poles is from 1980s no local office to exchange old home use equipment very poor customer service apparently we're trapped with a poorly run monopoly of an essential utility read more

By far the worst customer service I've experienced in a long time. I've been with out service at night for 3 weeks. I've had 1 Tech come out and said it was on Suddenlink' send. Worst internet ever!!! Paying for 100Mbps and getting less than 10Mbps in the evenings.

I always had good service from Suddenlink. I moved out of their service area. I returned my equipment. I got noticed that they billed my credit card for not returning the equipment. I called customer service they asked if I had a receipt from FedEx, I said no because I couldn't find it, but I did send it in. They put me on hold, and then they actually said that they personally went to the warehouse and saw that it was there and just hadn't been logged in yet. I expressed that I had experience working in a warehouse and that wasn't how it worked. They said that that it took several weeks for them to check and make sure it wasn't damaged. I never heard anything or got a credit. It has been since May of 2020. I just found (unpacked) the Fed-ex receipt.. I won't bother, after my last customer service experience. read more

Worst customer service I've ever experienced! If there service is not working you will be charged even if it is there fault you have been without service for weeks! SuddenLink claims to have a contract buyout of previous internet/cable provider. After signing up online, with instructions for their contract buyout, they are denying any knowledge of such a deal. It's on their website. We keep getting the run around. Supervisor after supervisor has said we would get calls back and that's after nearly cumulative 8 hours on hold- my husband and I are still waiting for promised calls. Now we are stuck with a $300. Fee for breaking a prior internet contract because Sudden Link was very disingenuous about their advertised deal. For THAT reason and terrible customer service--constantly being put on hold.. but mostly because they do not have a clue -nor care- because they are the only cable provider in our part of Alta Sierra. With the countless hassles and never ending annoyance you'd be better off starting your own cable / internet company than dealing with this one. Suddenlink has the worst customer service of any business I've ever worked with. The website does not have accurate updated information regarding outages in your area nor do they have accurate info about the equipment you're using. In addition, they'll make changes to their systems without updating you and forget to email you your new bill that's due on a totally different date than your previous billing cycle thereby interrupting your service for "nonpayment"! Really?? They don't have enough money to hire people to handle this? If you ever try to call them you're on hold for at least an hour and they never call you back!!! Again, they don't have enough money to hire more customer service agents??????? REALLY? I can't wait until a better option comes along for the rural areas. I hope they lose ALL their business and close. I hate them! read more

The $100 Amazon gift card promotion they supposedly provide when signing up is a total fraud. A total joke. It is plain and simple false advertising. Take it for what it's worth. read more

This review is for SuddenLink Corporate not the local offices)--I have been communicating with SuddenLink for months trying to get phone service to a house in Tahoe. Over the months, I have been put on hold for an hour or more, got disconnected several times, Customer support either lied or were grossly mistaken about what their company can do for my problems (one call, they assured me I'd received a refund for returning equipment, the next call, they'd say, Oh I'm sorry, we don't refund for that, I was told the problem would go to a supervisor and I'd get a call back, but no call ever), many times I was given incorrect information, or "check with us in a week to 10 days, or check your next bill, etc. Each time another agent would apologize for what the last agent said but wouldn't follow thru with what I was promised. If you can help it, do NOT sign up for SuddenLink! Anything is better than the run around I've received from them! read more
