It quickly became my mom's favorite restaurant after she moved to the area, and whenever I came to visit, she couldn't wait to bring me here. I still remember how good the fried chicken was back then. My mom passed away 8 years ago, and I hadn't been back since... until today. Friends of ours moved from Ohio to Florida and live not too far from The Mason Jar. They kept talking about this amazing comfort-food spot they couldn't wait to take us to. As you've probably guessed by now -- it was The Mason Jar. The moment it clicked, I had a smile on my face and a tear in my eye. Everything felt just like I remembered: great food, friendly staff, and that warm, welcoming atmosphere. The only thing missing was my mom. In her honor, I ordered the fried chicken again. It came with three sides, and I chose coleslaw, fried okra, and mashed potatoes. It was absolutely delicious -- comforting, flavorful, and exactly how I remembered it. If you're looking for a place that's more than just a meal, somewhere that helps create memories, this is that kind of place. Thank you, Mason Jar, for the memory. It meant more than you know.

In addition to mozzarella, the pizza also Parmesan and Romano which deliver a slight tangy and salty taste. The pizza is also seasoned with garlic, but not the garlic is not overpowering or overwhelming. Instead of a tomato-based sauce, the Ultimate Cheese Lovers pizza features Alfredo sauce. The Alfredo sauce is applied sparingly so the crust did not get soggy. However, the light saucing made the pizza lack some creaminess. You can tell the garlic knots are on the way to the table because the garlic scent arrives well before them. If you are on a date or headed back to the office, give them a miss; your breath will reek of garlic. The knots also delivered on the garlic taste, but less so than I expected given the aroma. The garlic knots arrive piping hot, lightly browned, crispy, and dusted with garlic and Italian herbs. The garlic butter and some cheese, which oozed out, decorated the bottom of the pan. Unfortunately, the supposedly cheese stuffed knots lacked the main ingredient - cheese. The knots had very little and so were basically hollow breadsticks. Skip them. The quepapas, which ate basically like Tatar tots with cheese sauce and diced jalapeños inside, are delicious. The outside was crispy, and the inside potatoes were mixed with a little yellow cheese sauce and mild jalapeños. The jalapeños had a just a hint of heat. Yummy!

I've passed by the old store countless times, the exterior was disgusting so I never stopped in, the pumps were decrepit and difficult to access and there was absolutely no appeal even though it's in a prime location. The engineers and architects did an amazing job with this new layout- they turned the face of the store ninety degrees and elevated everything. The new store is beautiful and modern and the pump island is easily accessible with lots of pumps as well as a drive through car wash. Although I haven't gone inside yet I can't imagine a facelift of this magnitude would come without a new business plan - this is the opportunity to clean up things including all the bad habits. My gas pumping experience was uneventful, everything worked as it should - this could be a place I frequent...
