The huftsteak (which I learned was rump steak) was a satisfying 220 gm and cooked exactly to my specification. I added a pepper sauce and a delicious side of grilled mixed veggies. It was all quite delicious. Schmid's has an extensive beer menu with 7 on tap and a comprehensive range of 80!bottled beers and ciders. In addition, a large number of wines are available. Service was very friendly (staff were fluent with English) and the establishment has an atmosphere that would not be out of place in any university town with touches of corrugated iron and rough sawn (but properly finished) timber and engaging background music. Should I return to Krems am Donau, I'll be coming back to Schmid's for sure.

He then proceeded to pick an argument and ask "What is the reason you're getting cocky with me for? I make this menu and welcomed you into my country and restaurant, treating you as best as possible and you have bad manners." In front of the entire restaurant! He stayed for about 3 minutes asking the same questions, "Why are you being so cocky for? What is the reason for the cockiness?" Multiple times over and then proceeded to show us that he put not carrots on the ticket. We said that there was no problem and that we appreciated him taking the carrots off. The conversation was in a funny manner and then he completely took the situation out of hand. Will not be returning! He was extremely rude and belittling.
