Our friends had the bratwurst & potato with eggs (actual name I don't remember but it was a special for the month of September) both were ok. The bratwurst was the hit of the night with everyone thinking it tasted the best. The potatoes with eggs were ok but serving size was too large for the person who ordered it preferring the size of the potato salad over the meal. The service was apparently during shift change because getting someone over to the table for more drinks was difficult (unless you apparently were at a locals table) so sitting for extra drinks didn't really happen. So we ate our meal & eventually got our check & left. Was it good? Yes. Would we have eaten here again? No

They seem to strive for stranger beers, concoctions from uber microbreweries, infusing fruit or wild flavors into their beers. This isn't a place to come and ask for a Bud Light! They had a few local beers, but most of the beers were from elsewhere in Europe. The beer styles ranged from fruit sours to super dark beers. A beer snob's dream! The owner and wait staff are real pleasant, making great recommendations for beers, quick to pour, and happy to chat over politics, beer, religion, or whatever. The beers are professionally poured correctly, they know what they're doing when pouring a beer! Seating is intimate in this place, located on the ground floor of a taller building. It's a bit cramped and a quiet place to chat over a small table or the tiny bar. Beers were fairly priced, especially considering the distances that this pub has gone to in order to score these kegs! Actually I can exit my cool apartment building, turn left, and just keep walking straight even when the street changes its name in one block - and arrive at Laurenz in ten minutes. Laurenz looks great - outside & inside. Many clever beer sayings adorn the walls outside and you even find a few funny ones inside. There is a bar and a couple of dining areas. You can eat & drink where you choose. Since they make their own beer here, let's start with that. The beer is great! I had a Vienna Red beer here that tasted fresh and nicely balanced with hops & malt. The soup I ordered was the Beer Cheese Soup which was so good I could have eaten a whole pot of it. I loved how there were still chunks of melted cheese residing in its delicious broth. An Austrian soft pretzel nicely accompanied this offering. My main course was also tremendous. - a delicious pumpkin Flammküchen with Creme Fraiche, caramelized onions, Grana Padano, and Austrian pumpkin seed oil. The crust of this tasty concoction was perfectly baked. Service was most friendly and efficient. Laurenz is a winner! With some help, I left the shop with three bottles. Two were local; one was from a well-known Danish brewery. I also was able to try a small sample of an Austrian sour, which was really nice and I appreciated it! My bill came out to 9.25. I wish it could've been higher. But yes, if you're missing on US brews, you're at the right spot. They have everything from Anderson Valley to Stone to Crooked Stave. And the sour selection is incredible. Ugh. So sad. Needed a bigger backpack.
