Subway at Westblaak in Rotterdam is a very good Subway location and is one of the best Subway stores that I've visited.
This particular subway is in a good location for most of the city's sights and attractions, it is a fairly attractive location which seems to have been refurbished recently, to follow the new Subway look/feel which I love, as the store looks modern and fresh.
The sandwich artist who served me was very friendly, he changed his gloves multiple times when making my sandwich, to avoid cross-contamination as I ordered the gluten-free bread. I also liked the care and precision he used in making the sandwich, compared to the rushed experience that I tend to get back home.
I also appreciated how he appeared to do everything right, without needing to ask him, such as toasting the bread before and after (The gluten-free bread is frozen and sometimes they forget before adding fillings!), and changing gloves.
The cleanliness of the entire restaurant from the fillings area to the seating area was sublime, there weren't any of the fillings or vegetables out of place, and the sandwich fillings and vegetables looked clean, fresh and inviting.
There is a decent amount of seating if you decide to sit in with your sandwich, which I decided to do.
I ordered a tuna and cheese sub with salad on gluten-free bread, again it tasted great, it was hot and it was good quality overall.
PRO TIP: International Subway cards are accepted, I was able to earn points even though I had a UK Subway card. The loyalty scheme seems to work pretty much the same as it does back home too.
If all Subway stores in the Netherlands are like this, then they're doing something right for sure, if only I didn't leave it until right before getting my train back home to the UK, to give this place a chance! I can't fault this Subway location by any means. 5* read more
