For me it was the meatloaf sandwich and for my partner it was Chipotle Turkey Bacon. They use really thick slices of bread that some may like and others might find too filling. My meatloaf sandwich was only $10.50 which is good value. The Chipotle Sandwich was a bit more at $13.50 but that's still reasonable. I had a coffee too. It was fine, though nothing special. WiFi is free but not password protected. It was nice inside the cafe. Very roomy and not too loud nor too quiet. It was easy to carry on a conversation. I enjoyed my sandwich but it was a bit large. Still this could be my new go to cafe when I'm hungry on the QEII. I recommend it.

The menu is well focused on two things: Soup and Sandwich - the greatest lunch love-story of all time, with a pickle on the side ;). I'm not even going to ramble on with all of the delicious, fresh, local foodie highlights or even mention the cheesecakes (DARNIT, they're just so good!). If you want to keep your calories in check, make any sandwich a salad. That way it cancels out the cinnamon bun appetizer, probably. I have been coming here for years but never wrote a review in an attempt to selfishly keep the lunch-rush lineup at a minimum; but alas, the good word has clearly gotten out. So best to call your order in ahead of time if you're in a hurry - do NOT rush these lovely ladies in their craft, they are hustling HARD.

There aren't any tables or chairs but you can take your order and eat outside in your car. We stopped into Lokal Kitchen Express on the way from Edmonton to Calgary. It's halfway between the two. The quality of the food (especially the beef, of course, which is what the region is known for) and the flavor combinations are gonna have me dreaming of this place until we return. In talking to the counter person, we found out that the restaurant has been open for three years. She also told us we need to return to try their KFC chicken, which we will most definitely do on our return to Edmonton. The sweet garlic Parmesan fries were addictive: slightly sticky sweet (but not too sweet - just enough to make you want to eat another bite), wonderfully garlicky, and perfectly Parmesan flavored. The bulgogi pasta was well done: nicely al dente and well seasoned. The truffle flavor was a bit mild for my taste but the overall flavor was still delicious. I don't know WHAT is in the salad dressing (did I get a hint of Asian pear?) but it was so refreshing and different from any dressing I've had before. Plus the salad greens, julienned beets, and radishes were super fresh. This is not your average gas station food. If you're ever in the area, please give this place a try! Parking is easy and the gas station is not too far off the highway.

We were the only customers there. I didn't even get a chance to feel bad about being the only Asians in the restaurant apart from the staff. Their beef ramen is Top Ramen quality, better than I could do at home. But, way off the mark for real ramen. The California roll and shrimp rolls were okay. It isn't like high quality ingredients need to go into a California or shrimp roll. On a positive note, I didn't get sick after eating the Alaska roll which came with smoked salmon. Other than the ramen, it's an okay place for the foods I tried. It might be safe for me to say, I'm not going back to Edo in Red Deer.
