They need to have more than one waitress on the job. The server is polite but service is very slow.

Eastside Eatery - My meatloaf sandwich for $10.50 in 2023. It will fill you up.

This was our first visit to Eastside Eatery. It's a bit out of the way, in an industrial area…read more The sign is very plain but there is free parking, although I parked on the street because I'm towing a trailer. We both ordered sandwiches. For me it was the meatloaf sandwich and for my partner it was Chipotle Turkey Bacon. They use really thick slices of bread that some may like and others might find too filling. My meatloaf sandwich was only $10.50 which is good value. The Chipotle Sandwich was a bit more at $13.50 but that's still reasonable. I had a coffee too. It was fine, though nothing special. WiFi is free but not password protected. It was nice inside the cafe. Very roomy and not too loud nor too quiet. It was easy to carry on a conversation. I enjoyed my sandwich but it was a bit large. Still this could be my new go to cafe when I'm hungry on the QEII. I recommend it.

The menu is well focused on two things: Soup and Sandwich - the greatest lunch love-story of all time, with a pickle on the side ;). I'm not even going to ramble on with all of the delicious, fresh, local foodie highlights or even mention the cheesecakes (DARNIT, they're just so good!). If you want to keep your calories in check, make any sandwich a salad. That way it cancels out the cinnamon bun appetizer, probably. I have been coming here for years but never wrote a review in an attempt to selfishly keep the lunch-rush lineup at a minimum; but alas, the good word has clearly gotten out. So best to call your order in ahead of time if you're in a hurry - do NOT rush these lovely ladies in their craft, they are hustling HARD.

I did call for a reservation in the morning for 8 plus a 2 year old. We were put in the private area which was okay. They charged us a 18 percent gratuity without telling me in advance. We always tip without being forced to. The food was okay but was charged for any extras including butter chives and bacon bits for the baked potato. There were no buns offered which were always were before. We were there for my birthday and probably won't be back.

Though even from his description, I thought it was going to be a seedy looking joint with great food! Instead, it ended up being a good-sized restaurant and sports bar. I sat on the bar side (it was pretty empty, but it was a weekday afternoon!). Sometimes, when places are empty, it's even harder to get service. Not here, the one server/bartender on for the afternoon was prompt with my drink order and a lunch menu. Lunch fare is usually pub food but with a Greek twist. Expect to find sandwiches, burgers and wrap.. but also some entrees like spanakopita. I opted for the grilled vegetable and chicken piadina (or piatina? something like that). It was a grilled pita filled with veggies, chicken, feta cheese and sauce. Soooo good! It hit the spot for a hungry wanderer like myself. There's nothing overly special about the drinks... the usual big name beers are on tap or in bottle. I'd up another star if they carried some Alberta beers. The bathrooms were also very clean and as new as the rest of Leto's! Clean bathrooms like this in a small town impress the pants off me... pardon the bathroom pun. There was a cash machine on premise, so I'm not sure if they accept debit or not.

We really quite like the covered patio, as it's basically like sitting inside but so nicely decorated. Parking is around and about in this area if you don't find something right out front, but not too bad of a walk. Our friend always orders the #28 dragon bowl and every time only has good things to say about it. It does have amazing color and looks delightful. This time we tried the Chefs corner items which we were all very happy about. The French Dip was a huge portion, very filling. And nice sides choices like salad, fries, or even poutine. The bread was crispy and tender! We also go the chefs corner Crispy Chicken Ramen. Beautiful! The chicken had a little spice on it but if you aren't into spice they could omit that. Broth was nice and not too spicy even for the little kids. Speaking of kids, nice big bathrooms and a change table! Plus high chairs available too. The server was super great when our son wanted to order a burger and fries even though it 'isn't on their menu' still put a kids one together and even cut it and plated it for my two boys. It was quite big so glad they shared it!

I had always wanted to visit here and heard good things, so I'm glad we came and experienced it, but wouldn't ever come back. It did take a few minutes for our server to come over and take our drink orders. I asked him a couple of questions about the menu, and he seemed like he really didn't want to be there. We ordered the grilled cheese sandwich with fries and a hot hamburger sandwich with onion rings. To drink, we just had a coke/pepsi and a water. It took a good 20 mins to get our food (again, it was steady, but not crazy busy) and as soon as I saw my meal, I was disappointed. The gravy on my burger was this dark brown, not appealing look or flavor to it. You could tell it was just a bad powder mix and it really did not taste good at all. The burger patty itself was fine. The bread that came with it, was just a white piece of bread and if it was toasted that would have made a bit of a difference. The one thing I did like about my meal were the onion rings. At least they were good. My spouse's grilled cheese and fries were decent. Nothing special. Just a regular grilled cheese. That's kind of his go to when nothing else looks great on the menu (and we just had a good burger the night before). While we were eating, I was watching the staff and the incoming clients. The diner's computer system went down, so they weren't able to put in orders or calculate a bill. They were telling clients that orders wouldn't be submitted for at least a half hour or 45 mins. The system was definitely down at least 40 mins (while we ate and waited for our bill). We asked for our bill, and our server said they wouldn't be able to give it to us for another half hour. I said, no, you should be able to calculate it manually. Especially that their debit card system was still able to process payments. So this wasn't payment issue where they couldn't accept anything. This also doesn't make sense that they couldn't take people's orders and just write it down to give it to the kitchen. I understand that an online system may calculate inventory and orders, but as a temporary solution, just give the kitchen a hand written order and then enter it into the system later. Like how did they do it before the system was installed? We ended up paying cash and left. A couple of things to note, I wish I would have ordered breakfast. The menu says it's only available until 11:30am, but another couple came in and ordered some breakfast items. I wish I would have asked if there was all day breakfast. Overall, I'm glad we visited the diner, but we wouldn't go back. The food was not good at all and it was pretty disappointing. (I don't give 1 or 2 stars very often, but this definitely was a 1 star review).
