Subway is the best spot to have a snack and a good sandwich. I like that the quality is always good.

So I'm usually super jealous of all my friends who still live in my hometown, Toronto, because Toronto almost always gets new chains before we do here in Ottawa. But this time I get to say "Na na na na boo boo! We got Mont Tacos before you!" Lol. This location opened up on October 2020. So Mont Tacos sells what they call "French Tacos" but I would describe them as "flattened burritos." They have some pre-set ones or you can build your own. I built my own. I got 2 small combos, which comes with fries, a dipping sauce, and a fountain drink ($8.99 each combo). If you just get a small sandwich it's $5.99. They have medium, large and X-large too, to suit your appetite. For the base price you get 1 meat and 1 sauce choice. You can add more toppings (meat, cheese, or vegetables) for more money ($1-2 per topping). I didn't add any additional toppings. I got 1 with "marinated chicken" and Samurai sauce and 1 with "chicken cutlet" and Algerian sauce. So they put fries inside the "taco" and they also add their signature cheese sauce. I found the "tacos" a little too wet and saucy for my tastes, but I still enjoyed it. My husband and I shared the "tacos" so I was able to eat half of each. The "marinaded chicken" has a curry flavour to it, which I enjoy, but if you don't like curry, you might want to stick with the regular "chicken cutlet." I was very pleased that both types of chicken were real chicken breast pieces and not some fake chicken loaf like you get at Subway Sandwiches or other places. The fries were shoestring fries, which was my favourite. They weren't that crispy by the time I got home (got takeout), but they were still delicious. The Algerian sauce is a bit sweet and a tiny bit spicy. I really liked it. The Samurai sauce is also spicy, but was less multidimensional than the Algerian sauce. Both were good. Service was friendly and efficient. The food here is Halal. This restaurant is where Central Bergham used to be and truth be told, Mont Tacos reminds me of Central Bergham a lot. Central Bergham also has creamy dipping sauces for their fries and they also had Algerian sauce and they kind of tasted the same. I don't know what I conclude from these observations. Hey whatever, I'm a fan of both places! I just wished that they would include 1 free vegetable topping with your order. I feel like the price can really creep up if you add lots of vegetables to it. The restaurant is in a strip mall, there is some free parking in the mall parking lot, but the lot is small and difficult to maneuver around when it's full. There's some free street parking if you don't mind walking a little bit.

This sandwich is literally the reason I downloaded this app…read more I've just spent the whole winter in Quebec and am now hitchhiking across Canada and decided to stay in Ottawa a few days. I booked 4 nights at the Saintlo jail hostel and when I came downstairs after a rejuvenating nap I saw that they had a list of recommendations sitting amongst a pile of other plastic sheets. Dirienzo's - the best ITALIAN SANDWICH in the city. I'm not really an Italian sandwich sort of person normally, maybe it was contributed by the burgeoning like for cured meats that I was acquiring after eating dried salami as my only source of food for the past week or so -- but who's going to pass up the chance to try the BEST of anything? I got there after taking 2 buses and was starting to become a bit concerned. I had $40 in my account and was hitchhiking across the country -- after all it was labelled the BEST in the city and that would normally come with a hefty price tag. When I first opened the door I instantly got greeted by the guy behind the counter, which made me feel welcomed and at ease. I looked up to view the selection of sandwiches that they had on offer and potentially the cheaper ones. I was surprised to see the sign that said $10 for ANY SANDWICH!! #booyah I was finding it hard to decide on which of the sandwiches to get since they all looked so appetising, but decided on number 16. The sandwich was massive for the price that it was. The bread was a perfect mix between durable so that it wouldn't fall apart in your hands, but soft enough that it was enjoyable, with the amount of bread contemplating he rest of the fillings just the right amount. I was pretty overwhelmed to be honest with how good it was. All of the ingredients including the lettuce (which I've found is usually the first thing places will skimp out on) were extremely fresh. I put in my coworker groupchat: "Anyone coming over across Canada after the season has to make a stop in Ottawa if they aren't already just to try one of these." Accompanied by a photo of my eyes watering with glee. My Nonna is always telling me how I need to learn Italian to be more connected to our culture and I've always just kindof brushed it off since I haven't needed to use it and we don't speak it much at home, but this has made me so proud to be Italian. As I continued to eat the sandwich sitting on a bench looking towards the city and the people playing basketball in the park, I found myself contemplating staying in Canada and raising my kids here in Ottawa so that they get to experience it themselves on a warm summer afternoon after picking them up from school.
