The Subway store in Leeds Train Station is not where I usually go (I'm normally sprinting through the crowd to catch my train!) but I decided I would take the healthy option today and visit Subway rather than McDonalds or KFC. Subway is a by couple of pounds the cheaper option, and McDonalds looked packed as it was rush hour.
I was immediately greeted by a smiling 'Sandwich Artist' who I believe wore a nametag reading "Louise", and I ordered a ham & turkey sub. She patiently asked the specifics of the sandwich ("would you like it warm?") and did all of this still wearing the friendly smile I needed after a day of gruelling lectures. The meat was fresh and the lettuce crisp, the tomato I chose was nicely moist unlike most places where it dries up under the light.
She took my payment, and after I had took the receipt from her I remembered I had forgotten to swipe my Subcard (points make prizes!) and I asked her if there was anything she could do. She swiftly scanned the card with a 'never too much hassle' attitude and passed me it back with a smile. "No problem" She told me, and explained that the sugar and milk was on the next counter so I didn't go off for my train with black tea!
The only fault I could give this branch of the store is that as it emerged onto the concourse, it lacked ambience and privacy.
I overheard 'Louise' serving the next customer who had obviously never been to Subway before with the same patience and smile, the woman deserves a medal! read more
