Great evening at Boots and Bourbon!…read more First off, huge shout out to Autumn behind the bar! She made the best smoked old fashioned just the way I like it, not sweet with a little punch. It was perfect. And smoking it in house adds that extra flavor to bring it over the top. Went with some wings and a spicy smashburger accompanied by their in house chips. Wings came out hot and fresh. Smashburger was great, juicy meat with depth of flavor. Only thing that would have made this burger even better would have been the crispy char edges of the smashed meat for that unique smashed taste. But even without it, this was a heck of a burger. And the fresh homemade chips were perfect with it. Super fun spot on either a slower day, or come when they have their live music, line dancing or any other fun event that they host regularly.

I have been wanting to try The Bodega for a while now simply because of their delicious food photos…read morefrom Yelp! My husband and I were in downtown Greensboro on a Saturday afternoon and decided to hit this place up for lunch. When they called the place The Bodega, they really mean it's a bodega. It's decked out like a small convenience store from the second you walk in. We ordered our food at the cash register to eat at one of their tables outside. The cashier brought our sandwiches out about 10 minutes after ordering. I ordered the Turkey Caesar. It had turkey, shaved parmesan, marinated cherry tomato, house-made Caesar dressing, onion, and romaine lettuce in an 8" sandwich roll. It was a little pricey at $15, but it was worth the splurge. The dressing and parmesan cheese were unbelievable! Since this is in downtown Greensboro, there is no dedicated parking lot but we easily found street parking nearby. The place has a few tables outside for customers to enjoy their food. If you're looking for a good sandwich, I highly recommend checking The Bodega out.

Who wouldn't like an authentic Italian market with homemade Italian favorites?…read more The moment you walk through the door, your senses are on overload from the sites and smells of meats, cheeses and the aroma of garlic that make you want to taste everything you see. The gentlemen working there are so handsome and helpful. They were eager to assist and the service is top notch. They get you in and out quickly, without sacrificing quality. Dats what I'm talkin about! Their artichokes look so good. I can't stop thinking about them and am kicking myself in the pants for not getting some. Oh well, I guess that means I'll be forced to go back and get some. Ha! What I did get was the Italian Stallion sub and the Meatball Parm sub. First. Let's talk about the bread. FRESH and slightly crunchy on the outside, with the perfect amount of chewy, and pillowy yet dense on the inside. The BEST bread on a sub that I've found in NC. The Marinara on the sub is authentic Italian marinara with just the right amount of cheese, but those MEATBALLS...I've never had a meatball quite like theirs and they are homemade, delicious with the perfect seasonings. Yum! The Italian Stallion. Absolutely the BEST sandwich I think I've ever eaten. They don't skimp on the meat that's for sure and its QUALITY cold cuts all the way. And the best thing about getting food from here? Their prices. They have kept their prices on the lean side while still keeping their sandwiches fat. Love love love! So what ya gonna do about it? Go back for more! That's what! This is a 100% YES and I will be recommending to everyone.

Today I stopped in for a to go order, but next time I plan on enjoying the patio with my pup Ziggy and try one of their burgers. I ordered the Madison Avenue which is a croissant smeared with honey walnut cream cheese, smoked turkey, and granny smith apples. My side was slaw and I also ordered fries with a side of ranch. Upon walking in the place appeared clean, the customer service, not the best. But maybe someone was having a bad day, I get it. I'm so glad I did check my bag before I left because they did not give me ranch or plasticware, man I would have missed out on some amazing ranch. The young man gave me three ranches which I'm so disappointed I only grabbed one. Unfortunately I didn't get the best pictures but the food tasted great. The fries were thick cut (probably frozen) and let me tell you, I would just come back for the ranch! They have my favorite restaurant ranch. The slaw was really tasty - good ole southern sweet mayonnaise slaw, not too vinegary. The sandwich, not bad, good combo of toppings, they paired well together. I' ll be back. The service isn't going to be in and out as this isn't a large place with lots of wait staff. Expect to be here at least an hour. They have Coors on draft (nostalgia for the Mr.) and tall boy PBRs. Not your thing? Don't let that deter you bc they are one of the few places I have seen who has Old Rasputin on DRAFT. Those not familiar, this is a Russian imperial stout by North Coast Brewery out of Ft Bragg, California. Something I haven't had since... well, I lived in California. Personally, one of my favorite stouts. Beer not your thing? They have an array of specialty contrails and some solid liquor choices including buffalo trace's limited purchase bourbon (eagle rare/ blantons). Food: the Brussels, sandwiches, and salads looked amazing (neighboring patting got those). We split a few things: Brisket: nit the best I have ever had, but solid choice. Maybe not for the $, but it was fall apart brisket. Wings: these are crispy fried with sauce on the side. A little hard but good. Not my favorite. The poutine was by far a favorite with the melty cheese and the gravy was delicious. We also had the street corn and with the lime was pretty good as well. These 4 things were plenty for the 2 of us with a little extra. We didn't mind paying the extra because of the experience. I did about die of heat, but I should have put a hair the in my bag and wore a skit or just not jeans. We will definitely be back.

I ordered a 6" Classic Italian and a 6" Meatball sub with an order of Homemade Chips. I cut them in half so I can sample both and still have another meal or two for the next day. The chips were the best homemade chips, cooked until crispy. And both sandwiches were delicious and on fresh bread but I especially liked the Classic Italian which was fully loaded! I ordered a regular Bahn Mi and an iced Vietnamese coffee. The sandwich is around 12 inches and packed with what should be in a Banh Mi and nothing else, just the way it should. And then I also chose the New Orleans, which holds all the standard veggies and the pátê but adds some srirachi-flavored pork to the mix. Prices were reasonable and so too was the prep time. Both sandwiches were flavorful and perfect choices for lunch on a reasonably hot day. There were around nine or so tables inside the restaurant, and a few of them were dirty, though staff did get them cleaned up by the time I left. And apparently the air conditioning was on the fritz, so the dining environment wasn't especially comfortable, though it was tolerable. Were it not for those issues, I'd probably go with a full five stars here. I'll definitely be back. And I wish we could get a proper banh mi like these over in Winston (where no one even seems to know what pátê is, much less that it belongs on these sandwiches), because I'd be a frequent customer.
