Your standard subway, but the interior is very well kept. The furniture looks relatively new and everything is very clean. The staff is very friendly and attentive when ordering. I tried the "new" Baja Chipotle Chicken and it wasn't bad. A little spicy and very 'creamy.' Not sure if I would order it again. $13 for a foot long sandwich is a little crazy, but that's the current world we live in. read more

I don't know what the other reviews are talking about but please don't come here. Place is ran by stingy Indians. First of all when I got there there was barely any bread made. It's 11 am. Ok fine, I asked for Italian herb and cheese bread she said ok & I got plain white bread? Ok fine. I get my sandwich and I'm ready to pay and ask for the truman discount- she didn't apply it. I brush all that off and just continue with my day. I open my sandwich and see ONE SLICE of meat throughout the whole sandwich. Which explains why they have that metal thing covering the meat portion of the preparation table so you can't see how shitty they're gonna make your sandwich. If you're gonna be stingy with giving out discounts that's fine, but at least give me DECENT sandwich. Please don't come here they're actually insane. read more

Looks can be deceiving. During the daytime this neighborhood is ok, but at night this particular intersection of Magnolia and Wilson is known as a high crime spot. Over the past year, there've been a lot of gang-related shootings and most recently a rape, all within a block or two from this intersection. But you know what else is deceiving, or revealing: walking into this Subway and really enjoying my visit. The husband/wife team who run the place were super friendly and love their customers. They like their restaurant, and it shows. When they're not working with customers, they're cleaning tables and keeping the place tidy. They're also one of the few Subway restaurants in the city that still has Seafood Sensation--a guilty pleasure. Nice to know they're here. read more

the food was good, but the extra charges were ridiciculous. for two small scoops of avocado, i was charged $2.49. a 6 inch sandwich cost $7.19, and a 12 inch sandwich cost $9.69. we were charged a bottle beverage tax taxable amount. we were also charged a bottle beverage tax of 3%. 2.77, 8 cents, respectively. i will never visit this establish again. read more

They are warm, generous, and friendly people who care about serving the neighborhood and providing good meals and good service to the people who live, study, and work here. I also only get veggie sandwiches here, and every time I go to this Subway I have a new reason to complain. The first problem I have is that a foot long veggie sandwich costs the same as a footlong that has meat on it. I mean, I really don't think I should pay for protein I'm not even getting. Second problem: I think the managers train the employees to put as few vegetables on the sandwich as possible. If you go here, stay on them and ask for more if you feel cheated. Finally, they stopped accepting coupons. So now my sandwich witn no meat and fountain drink not only costs $7, but I can't use a coupon and save a buck. read more

I come to this subway once every month because I get my hair cut down the street. The couple that owns this place is the best. They are super friendly and customer focused. I've been here when it's busy and when it's dead (and it makes me happy to see it busy). When it's the former, they hustle to keep the line moving. The ownership are so nice. I'm a little picky about the order I want my vegetables put on and they are very accommodating and generous (unlike other locations where I feel like I'm 'one of *those* customers). Always clean, never have had stale bread or vegetables I'd rather pass on. There are three Subways within a stone's throw of me and I choose this one! Not as bad as everyone says. I think the reviews of this place are hillarious, but really harsh. It is true that they don't except coupons, and they skimp on things, but it is fairly clean and ok. Don't stop here if you have a choice, there is probably another subway extremely close that will honor coupons and corporate prices. read more

It saddens me (not too much though, this is Subway we're talking about) that the nearest Subway sandwich shop sucks so badly. They're totally inconsistent. The older blond guy makes a decent sandwich, but serves it to you while flirting creepily. The middle aged lady with dark hair won't make eye contact and won't give you more than three pickle slices. I only order veggie subs here, so please pile the veggies on! The staff either flirts with you or seems annoyed that you are on the other side of the counter. They are plentiful with the amount of meat they put on the sandwich and the kindest store owners I know on Wilson ave. it's a subway with fat sandwiches and great customer service. read more

I love Subway. I mean, I'm like Jared without the pants that don't fit me anymore- I'm a skirt kind of girl. I love everything about Subway and have since I was a little girl. Extra pepperjack cheese on my veggie max patty, extra giardanera, and mmm their chipotle southwest! I scare myself sometimes and my bank statement details further my point (I would bet not many people hand over as much per month as I do to the Subway corporation). But this Subway in Uptown-- no. Just no. It's two blocks from my school and I've had to stop going here. The reason? you ask. Because that younger blond guy is always there to make my sandwich. He's disgusting. I'm a smoker, but never would I stand directly outside my restaurant and smoke and then walk in and start making sandwiches without washing my hands. Nor would I wash the sandwich station with a toothbrush and then commence making sandwiches-- you guessed it, without washing his hands. And then to further piss me off, he tries to both my sandwich and the sandwich of the person behind me at the same time. Meaning we have to try and synchronize directions which gets confusing and a bit intimate when I've just gotten done with school and am over socializing for the next few hours. Not to mention, and I almost forgot to mention, that he is the only Subway person in Chicago to charge me extra for those giardanera peppers. Really dude? I actually will drive up to Montrose and Clark's Subway now, even though it means I have to go and get my car instead of just strolling over to the nearest Subway. read more

This is the best Subway I have ever been to. To start, the inside is always sparkling clean. The owner is a super nice old man that makes your sandwich with care. They don't sloppily throw ingredients on like some locations do. I think at one Subway in the Loop, the guy actually squirted oil on the TOP of my bread. That would NEVER happen in the Uptown Subway. The sandwiches always come out perfect. As far as I am concerned, it is the best Subway in the city. read more

As far as Subways go, this place is great! It is VERY clean. The owners, a husband and wife team, are relatively new, and are very personable. They always make my sandwiches and salads as requested. I have eaten here, on average, twice a month, since they took ownership several years ago. The restaurant was totally rebuilt, by the current owners at their own expense, about 1.5 years ago, everything top to bottom. These are new owners, not the ones when the other revues were written prior to 2-1-12. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a fresh, healthy meal at a very inexpensive price. BTW, I have NO connection to this restaurant, in any way. I just like the place, and its owners, very much. read more
