Even the reliable chain Spoons deli cafe closed down at Garden City after about a year. There just didn't seem to be the right market for a gourmet deli in outer southern suburbia. Plenty Continental Deli has proven everyone wrong. I've been going to this deli now for the past two years, admittedly at first in an effort to help a new foodie business, but as their business grew it genuinely became an excellent purveyor of delicious foods. The business owners are both knowledgeable and adventurous with their stock and carry a huge range of olives, cheeses, salamis and ice creams. They're not scared to experiment either. Last year, they started selling gelati in cups but replaced it a few months later with a bakery section. These days, they've extended their bakery section to include Roman baked goods out the front of their shop on weekends. This is also a great place to go if you want to put together a food hamper for a gift. There are some excellent Turkish delights, chocolates, mixed nuts, oils and dressings. Service can be a little slow at times, especially if you get stuck behind a customer wanting different types of meats and antipasto. It's great if you're happy to browse but it can get frustrating if you're in a rush.

The shop is small but when I arrived (fairly early in the morning) it was already crowded. I bought some danish, a small cake and a sausage roll but everything else in the cases looked really good. We had the danish for breakfast and they were well received. The cake we had for dessert that evening and it was a hit as well. Never having had a sausage roll, I was a bit apprehensive about trying it, but it was the best treat of the trip. I wish I had found them earlier, I would have had them every day. If you're in the area stop in, you won't be disappointed.

Absolutely disgraceful!!…read more Last week I purchased myself a burger meal and a kids meal for my 3 1\5 YO son. I got home to find they had forgotten to add my sons popper juice. I called Aaron Gellie who offered to deliver it after he closed the shop, however, trying to be fair I just told him to note that I am owed 1 juice for my son next time I visit. I walked in today, again with my 3 1/5YO son to enjoy a meal together as father and son, because my son loves the chips and I like the burgers. I mentioned I am owed a popper juice and so the friendly staff who served me got Aaron to sort this out. I mentioned about the owed popper juice and ordered a burger for myself, chips and a drink and another kids meal deal which is $8.90 and requested just to deduct they popper juice. Aaron said that he would take my order of around $25+ dollars and just give me another popper juice, I told him that my son won't drink two juices, so he said just take it home and put it in the fridge. I stalled for a second and told him my son has a 6 pack of these drinks at home already just deduct the juice of his meal. Aaron persisted he did not wish to do this and basically starred at me to accept just taking another drink home. Well hang on a minute? How GREEDY is this guy? Firstly, I already paid for the drink he owed me last time and now he wants me to buy my little son another kids meal and pay FULL PRICE for it and just give me the popper juice I already paid for? Is this guy serious? He wasn't doing me or my son any favors, seriously Aaron, if your store is that hard up that you can't even deduct $2 from the kids meal I ordered AGAIN, or better still, offer him a free replacement meal for forgetting to put his drink in our take away order in the first place then you should have just told me your store is struggling financially and I would have just forgotten about the drink you said you would replace, (AGAIN - Which I had already paid for anyway). I just raised my hands and said "Wow I'M out" and left with my son and went to Oporto instead. You should be ashamed of yourself Aaron, any other restaurant would have offered a replacement kids meal for FREE, but all I wanted was for you to drop the price of the drink I had already purchased and you couldn't even do that, instead you wanted me to buy another kids meal full price and take another drink that I already paid for. SHAME ON YOU, I won't be returning to your store ever again, which is sad because your staff are really nice and the food is very good, but as for you Aaron Gellie I guess you showed your true colours. BTW - Keep the drink, since your store is so hard up. (Posted elsewhere).

Their "Rolld Soldiers" are rice paper rolls full of flavour and keep the stomach from launching a ninja hangry assault on the busiest of days. Bonus points for being able to satiate hunger for less than $10. Depending on how hungry you are, you can easily get by on two of these rice paper rolls and there's always plenty of combinations to choose from, although, I'm a creature of habit and generally opt for the BBQ Chicken. The service is quick and without fuss. Theres' not always a friendly welcome but when you see the line they're dealing with during peak times and the way they are so well organised to get the food to the punters, it's irrelevant.
