The burgers are fantastic (they offer several cheese options), the fries are pretty darn good (smooth fries, thicker than McDonald's, cooked to just the right combination of crispy outside/tender inside), the staff are friendly and helpful, and they've got a walk-up window and picnic tables for those of us who aren't ordering from a car and driving away. It's been a few years since I've had a shake there (dairy's not a good choice when bicycling in hot weather), but I remember them fondly as well. I live about 15 miles away, near Gainesville, and the only fast food style burger I've had in this general geographic area that even comes close to Shakers is from a little "weekday only, lunch only" place called Mac's. None of the big chains can touch Shakers. It's worth the ride.

We got in line and while it took a long time (so if you are in a hurry don't stop during lunchtime!) the food was delicious!! The burger was very fresh and juicy and the fries tasted like they were fries in something that would cook pastries! Very flavorful! So glad we took a chance on this place! I usually get a drink and grilled chicken sandwich at the drive through window. The school aged employees work hard, they don't do rushes real well ; The food is okay to good. The store just doesn't have that old nostalgic appeal it had a few years ago under the old owners. It appears to always be under construction and never quite finished. The wait time was short and our order was correct. I ordered the Culver's Strawberry Fields Salad which is available for Spring and Summer. It must have been the end of when they make it available to order. I have to say I'm so very glad I was able to still order it because it was delicious! On a bed of mixed greens that had a grilled chicken breast sliced, grape tomatoes, bleu cheese crumbles, lightly salted pecan halves and a goodly amount of fresh, juicy strawberry slices. I had my pick of their salad dressings from which I ordered the Culver vinaigrette- (you can order 1 or 2 packs) which paired perfectly with my salad. Even though I ordered two packs - one would have sufficed because the strawberries were so juicy that one pack was plenty. The mixed greens were fresh, the grape tomatoes had a slight tartness that worked well with the sweetness of the strawberries and the sharpness of the bleu cheese. The sliced chicken breast was plentiful and tasty. The salad was a good size portion for a meal and I would gladly order it again - it's a shame it's a limited time offer but I'm eager to try their other salad options. Their Cranberry Bacon Bleu Salad sounds very interesting and just in time for the upcoming holiday season.
