They even gave us extra napkins when we told them we were messy. Lol. This is a take out only sandwich shop within a small shopping center. Parking here is never easy but we really wanted to try these sandwiches. I grew up in Maine so the Portland Maine Italian sandwiches were a big part of my life. I love Greek olives, American cheese and crusty Italian bread which to me really make the sandwich pop. Here, though, they use provolone cheese and the bland black olives and very soft Italian bread. So if not comparing it to the Italian I know and really love it isn't bad at all. I ordered the ham sandwich with the veggies, opting for oil to make it more Maine ish. It did remind me of a Maine sandwich, but lacked briny olives and the flavor from the cheese. It honestly could have used more pickles too. The bread was to soft for me but I have to say I still enjoyed the sandwich and I definitely would go back again. I apologize for the picture as I had already taken a bite and we were eating them in the car.

Wonderful little lunch stop!…read more It was full of locals and regulars and on a wait for lunch. At that moment I knew I had picked a good spot! We chilled with the folks up front for a good bit before getting a table. It seemed we were the only people that had not been here 30-40 times before. Most people didn't even want menus and the sweet server ladies just brought them food without conversation at all. It's kind of old school feeling inside. It's an open kitchen and you can see all of the action. Inside is all wooden and rustic. It reminds me of my grandmas house in Camden TN. Not sure why. It's just really comfortable in here to me. The tile and fireplaces make super cozy. This place has some of the best chili that I have had in a long time. I dig the fact they give tortilla shops automatically with the chili. Win!! Thick and meaty and oh so filled with spice and love!! Cheese on top was a nice touch too. Really liked it! My French dip was fucking killer!! So damn big too! I could only eat half of it because of the the fire ass chili I had already eaten. French fries were battered type. Nothing wrong with that!! I drove around with this sandwich for two days of travel and ate it on the road later. Stupendous French dip!! C had an open faced roast beef sandwich. FIRE!! The green beans were so pretty and fresh too. She could barely get 1/3 down, lol. It was a ton of food. Economical! Hometown feel! Good people working and eating here! I love it!! I'm not even sure I could find the place again. I sure am glad I did the first time! '26 -39

It's a total game-changer. Pair that with the bacon (which is mouth-watering and perfectly crispy) and a mimosa, you've got the perfect meal 11/10! The server was great and the place is unique, but the pour of wine I got for $12 left something to be desired. I was given a stemless glass of wine with less than six ounces of wine in it. The food had great flavor but the portion was drastically lacking. I ordered the dumpling pow bowl that was advertised to have dumplings and cauliflower in a Sriracha miso glaze. The bowl I got was the size of a cereal bowl. It had a very thin layer of diced cabbage with two dumplings cut in half and barely any cauliflower bits. My partner got a great sandwich, but the server asked if he wanted to upgrade for fries and he decided to get the curry fries. This was charged as a total additional side for $5.50, $4 for the fries, and 75 cents each for the curry mayo and the curry ketchup. If they are going to charge it this way, he should have received the chips as well. This was very misleading. The portions were totally off and ended up making the experience very bad for us. I can say we will never be back to this establishment and that saddens us, as my partner had fond memories of going to the Portsmouth location.

And the food just is not good. We bought a chicken parm sub and a meatball parm sub and both were just not good...to the point that we threw away the leftovers. The meatballs we basically burnt (when you bit into them...they were really dark on the inside and a burnt flavor). And the chicken parm had a very weird taste. Again, a burnt taste. Now both of these had tomato sauce. So maybe that we the problem. And the sub rolls are thin and soggy. Overall, the sandwiches were both just bad. Like I said, we ate some and threw the rest away. So we tried this place a few times now...and we are done with them. Sorry guys...we tried.

A few of my coworkers also live in this neighborhood and they frequented Cimo's for many years and Ordway's before that. Flanagan's offers made to order breakfast & lunch sandwiches/subs, grilled items, pizza, chili, soups, plus grab & go items such as wraps, subs, finger sandwiches, salads, deli salads, parfaits, baked goods and special heat & serve entrees (shepherd's pie, jambalaya). The prices here seem reasonable, most made to order items $5-$10 range. Place your order at the deli counter (they give you an order slip to bring over to pay at the market register, and pick up your prepared food at the deli counter. Besides prepared food items, the market offers a variety of cold beers (including NH beers), bottled soft drinks, juices, water, wine, hot coffee, snacks, candy, bread products, NH maple syrup, fresh berries, and NH Lottery scratch tickets. There is also an ice cream trailer outside next to the building too! I stopped in here twice this week, for takeout dinner and takeout lunch. Earlier this week, I stopped in here around 7:15 PM near closing time, but the deli/grill counter was closed for the day (closes at 5 PM), so I was limited to grab & go items only. I picked up a container of homemade macaroni salad ($3.25/lb plus tax) and a microwave & serve Jambalaya ($5.99 plus tax) to enjoy at home. The macaroni salad had a mix of soft ridged elbows, chopped celery, red peppers, tomatoes, seasonings in a light mayo dressing. The Jambalaya (heated in microwave) had a medium spicy flavor with a mix of red beans, onions, green peppers, tomatoes, chicken, smoked sausage and long grain rice in a tomato broth. Later this week, I stopped in here around lunch time and the place was very busy, parking lot very full. I placed my order the deli/grill counter for the Our Cuban Sub ($8.50 plus tax) and also grabbed a container of Garden Salad ($3.95/lb plus tax). Since the place was very busy, it took about 15 minutes before my name was called to pick up my sub. The Our Cuban Sub (7") was thick and heavy, layered with slices of grilled deli ham, tender carved pork, chopped dill pickles, yellow mustard, melted provolone cheese on a thick soft chewy toasted white sub roll. The Garden Salad had a mix of farfalle (bowtie) pasta, chopped red peppers, green peppers, green zucchini, yellow zucchini, spinach, cheese in a light oil dressing. Overall, the food I ordered from Flanagan's South Ender was excellent and freshly prepared. I will definitely have to stop in here for breakfast takeout before work shift.

Instead of simply explaining the policy, the employee helping me, Gavin, raised his voice at me, yelled that I "didn't know what I was talking about," and insisted they had never done that before. The interaction was so unpleasant that I avoided this location for the next 3-4 months and drove to another Jersey Mike's instead. I recently came back because this location was much more convenient, and I had a completely different experience. The woman with the colorful curly hair was absolutely wonderful. She was friendly, patient, and incredibly accommodating. She even explained to the employees that, yes, the substitution could be done. It was validating to know I hadn't been mistaken all along. On top of that, I watched her handle a huge rush of customers. She stayed calm, worked quickly, treated everyone with kindness, and kept everything moving efficiently. She is exactly the kind of employee every business hopes to have and truly deserves recognition and a raise. I hope management recognizes the difference one great employee can make. She completely turned my opinion of this location around.
