The employees were very friendly and made great "looking" sandwiches... BUT BEWARE FOOD POISONING!!! On May 17 at approx 9pm I ordered my food and then sat in my car to eat my sandwich. Within 4 hours of eating only half of my footlong cold cut, I had violent diarrhea with cramping, nausea, vomiting, fever and pounding headaches for 18 hours while I was outdoors camping! It took over 24 hours to start to feeling normal again. Such a horribly near death experience I will never in my life eat from Subway again! I ordered a cold cut combo on Italian herb and cheese bread with pepper jack cheese (not toasted) with toppings; lettuce, tomato, bell pepper, onion, pickles, olives and yellow peppers. This Subway Sandwiches restaurant is attached to the Pilot Truck Stop located at Kramer Junction where we stopped to top off the gas tank on our way from Bakersfield, CA to Las Vegas, NV. This store is reasonably clean and the prices are average (not jacked up because they are in boonies). The workers were friendly and it was certainly convenient to be able to pick up some healthy food while we were getting gas for the car. Those of us who prefer diet drinks had the options of Diet Coke, Minute Maid Light, or unsweetened Nestea iced tea. The thing I love about Subway is that you can personalize your sandwich with your choice of cheese and veggies. What I did not love about the employee at this location who was making my sandwich was that she was the Queen of the upsell - "Would you like double meat? You get a free cookie if you order double meat. Would you like extra cheese? Extra bacon? Make that a combo with chips? Cookies three for a dollar? Large drink? All of these options would cost me additional money, a fact they weren't mentioning with the exception of the cookie. I frequent Subway Sandwich restaurants quite often and am used to be asked if I want bacon or avocado (both at an extra charge) but I've never been nickel and dimed like this at any of the other locations. Not attractive, Subway employees. Cool it a little, why don't you! Sure, I'd get sandwiches here again if I'm passing through. I've been here a handful of times and this has got to be one of the best Subways I have been to. I've traveled both evenings and late at night and there has only been one or two people in front of me in line. The bread is never overcooked and the sandwiches come out looking like the pics on the menu; the crew is always happy and cracking jokes every time I come in as if they love what they do--you don't see that very often! I stopped for a 6" sub at the Subway here at Kramer Junction. The 2 ladies behind the counter were nice. I asked the one to please change her gloves and I am assuming she thought it was because of the virus. She didn't and asked the other lady to make my sandwich. The girl in front of her was already touching meat and I had already told her to change her gloves before she touched my sandwich. She was going too slow so that lady that had originally made my sandwich had gone and made a double meat sandwich for somebody else and touched all of the meat and then turned around and walked back to my sandwich and picked up my whole sandwich with her filthy fuckinh contaminated gloves and wrapped my sandwich. I'm sorry but how ignorant do you have to be?? Subway needs to educate their workers that you don't use a knife that you just cut meat sandwiches with and turn around and cut a vegetarian sandwich and you don't use the same gloves to touch All over the meat and then touch a vegetarian sandwich. This place was a racket. They tricked you into add-ons and behaved like used car salesman. It's a sandwich, girls!! My poor old dad is so lucky I came to help him carry the food. I saw what was going on and put a stop to it. Though I ordered a Spicy Italian, I found they had given my dad a BMT and added extra meat and avocado. Not what I wanted and I hissed. This Subway can get REALLY crowded, but then again, it's one of the only options in the area. The service is decent, but the prices feel way too high for what you get. Again, if it wasn't one of the only options in this deserted area, I'd say pass by and go somewhere else. Extremely horrible customer service. Out of all of the subways I have been to, this has got to be the worst. Employees were doing their job, but the manager or person in charge was very rude. He made smirky remarks out of questions I asked, instead of simply answering them. He did not have a friendly attitude, he was not doing anything and he finally decided to help out on register when he saw that his two employees were trying to bust the line out as fast as they could. Overall I was very unsatisfied with his assistance and his lack of training with his employees. They should be trained to know the ingredients of what their food they're selling contains.
