Meh "slushy/drink" truck. Great for hot summer days since they sell many frozen and on the rock drinks. Honestly very overpriced for a watery piña colada. Ordered other drinks as well and they were pretty "light". It's ok for having a drink on a hot day or a nice cold beer but for sure not worth the frozen drinks. For all the Suburbia hate, I am a fan. It's an airstream bar outside of Union Market with patio tables and umbrellas for shade from the hot summer sun. They are open during the summer and serve drinks only. The bartender plays mixologist and DJ, keeping the playlist alive and well at all hours of operation. S/he does this while staying on top of the drink orders from opening beer bottles to mixing drinks. If it's hot outside, order one of their frozen cocktails. I had their Arnold Palmer and it was very refreshing. The experience, music, seating, and drinks come at a reasonable price (for DC at least). read more

The Suburbia is a sister set-up from Buffalo & Bergen, and it's a '67 Airstream parked right in front of the Union Market entrance that serves draft beer, frozen drinks (blue margarita, sangria, and pineapple mojito), Bloody Marys, and alcoholic/virgin lemonades outside of Union Market. I was really excited to try their Rosemary Lemonade, and it's even set-up as a wooden lemonade stand off to the side. There's even 'fake grass' with some seatings where you can sit down, relax, and have a drink with some friends. You just go up a couple of steps, put your order in, pay, and retrieve your drinks. The staff here are super friendly and welcoming and are able to make some suggestions as well. Terrible service. Arrogant bartenders. Close up shop at 810pm on a Friday night with no selection on tap which is presented on their menu. Rude to long line of customers who wanted service, and cut off service early. I ordered one beer- not available, ordered another beer and received 1/2 beer -keg tapped... after payment and tip already paid. Asked for another beer, not available. They closed up shop in less than 3 min and shouldn't be in business in the first place since they treat customers terribly and don't even have the drinks on tap that they advertise. I like this place even more after reading the negative comments from some folks. My original thoughts after my visit: I don't know how they get a liquor license for a mobile truck that makes cocktails, but this is a great idea that needs to spread. (I only ever see beer and wine trucks out there. And only at festivals.) I'm glad I didn't let my friends' teasing get in the way between me and a pink lady cocktail. It's got frozen watermelon in it and is very refreshing. The drinks are good, the staff are nice, the seating area is very comfortable and had a variety of people enjoying themselves. My thoughts after reading other reviews: of course you need to purchase something to hang out there - it's called trespassing, people. It's a business! If you want to let your dog crap all over a cool, shaded spot on a hot day but refuse to spend a cent, stay the F home. I mean, you're obviously not homeless, because you're hanging out at an upscale market with an outdoor cocktail lounge. If you insist on hanging out in a comfortably cool business, and probably dropping your trash and taking seats from paying customers, I suggest you go to a Panera. Maybe try vaping an e-cig in the restaurant area after you clean out your goddess cup in the ladies' room. Then unleash your pent-up, white suburban privilege online if anyone complains. For the rest of you with manners, who have ever run a business or worked in the service industry, I highly recommend checking this place out after loading up on tasty stuff at Union Market. read more

The Surburbia is Buffalo & Bergen's sister restaurant. Housed in an airstream trailer outside of Union Market, The Suburbia serves up great microbrews and frozen cocktails. Their beer selection never disappoints, offering a range of brews to satisfy most tastes. I was skeptical of the frozen cocktails, as so many I've had elsewhere are weak on the booze and heavy on the sugar. Not so in The 'Burbs! Both the whiskey sour and mint julep have been solid! The mint julep even came complete with a freshly picked mint sprig (our bartender literally ran out back and picked a sprig from a planter when I ordered the julep, smacking it to release its full mint potential before sliding it into my drink). Note: Non-alcoholic frozen drinks to satisfy the younger ones among us. read more

This outdoor space right outside of union market is an amazing idea. They basically have about 6 boxes of lawn grass set up with lounge chairs, corn hole, and bbq grills that anyone can use (first come first serve bases). They also serve adult slushy, about 4 flavors ranging from whiskey and coke and some tangy grapy/limey ones. They also have all the DC brau on tap and a few cans brews as well. Slushy run about $8 each, cans are $6, and drafts are $8, it's a little pricey (even for my taste) but i believe in paying for the atmosphere. Since I live around the area, it's a nice non-mosquitoe infested area to relax and lay out and enjoy great company. And if you get hungry you can always run into Union market and grab something. I just love this place and love the idea, the first weekend not many people were around, but last weekend we drove by and all the chairs were taken and the place was packed! Great sign. Well, after you've done some exploring, Suburbia is a great place to come and sit outside, enjoy some well-made cocktails or yummy beers and play some cornhole and enjoy some music. I came to Suburbia for the Passport launch party last week. I don't know how often it's at Union Market but I can't wait to go back. I'm a big Buffalo & Bergen fan so I knew I would like this place but the strawberry bourbon slushie concoction that I had was my favorite drink I've had so far this spring :) Wish they had their own standalone bar/restaurant but I guess this makes it more special.. read more

Had a good time there until I saw my credit card statement. Expressly asked the bartender if I could tip on a card - was told no. So I left a cash tip. Then checked my credit card statement and there was a 20% upcharge on everything that I bought. 10% for tax, OK. 20%, not. Very disappointed. read more
