I have had a great experience with Dr. Chhadia. I recently had arthroscopic surgery on my shoulder from too many dislocations. They put 6 anchors and sutures in my shoulder. In the last 5 months I have broken the 5th metatarsal bones in both my feet. Right foot in November and left foot in March. For the right foot I had seen a different doctor and was not happy with the recovery and how the doctor handled my injury. I was recommended Dr Peterson by people who had either been to him or athletes on their roster had seen him for similar injuries. Dr Peterson is by far the best orthopedic doctor I have had the pleasure of seeing. I broke my foot March 11 and Dr Peterson surgically repaired the fracture on March 13. Three weeks later I'm able to walk without crutches and am on my way to being fully recovered. Next week I go in to have the first break surgically repaired so I can begin my recovery on that foot too. I would recommend Dr Peterson to anyone with foot and ankle issues, but not only Dr Peterson. His whole staff is a pleasure to see and talk to every time I go in. His assistant Molly is always in a good mood and happy to see you. His other assistant Gina(puts on and removes cast) is awesome too, genuine and helpful. The X-ray technicians are friendly and polite, everyone of them. The front desk people are awesome too. Dr Peterson truly cares about his patients well being. Very bad experience with Subarban Ortho. I had herniated disc issues and I went to get treatment. First they assigned me to Dr McNally to review. He said go to Dr Novo for epidural shot as he does not do it. So, there was two specialist charges on my account without even doing anything. I went to Dr Novo and he said he can do epidural shot which I scheduled. After the treatment, I didnt get any relief for few weeks. I had followup appointment with Dr Novo in 2 weeks, but even before follow up, they scheduled surgery appointment with Dr McNally again. Yep without even knowing what was the result of the epidural, they scheduled surgery appointment. These doctors are there, not for your benefit, but for their own to make money. They will keep referring from one doctor to another in their group. They also referred me to PT, again in their own facility and MRI (which I already had). beware of this group. read more

I injured my left shoulder in a car accident in Oct. 2011. After months of physical therapy at a different therapeutic center, non-standard alternative medicine, unsuccessful arthroscopic surgery by another well-known orthopedic doctor and yet more therapy, I was just about at the end of my rope with chronic 24/7 pain and extremely limited ROM. A friend at work strongly recommended Dr. Freedberg. I made an appt. and was finally correctly diagnosed with Frozen Shoulder Syndrome that required surgical intervention. I had a very good surgical experience at St. Alexis's new Day Surgery Center. Dr. Freedberg surgically released all the adhesions in my shoulder joint with impressively humane techniques. I was not thrilled when I was scheduled for an MRI of the neck because I'm very claustrophobic. Lisa, the technician, could not have been more wonderful. She talked to me through the whole thing and explained what she was doing next. Everything she did and said greatly relieve my anxiety, and I was able to tolerate the test. I started seeing Dr. Novoseletsky about 3 years ago for back pain. No amount of medication or physical therapy worked for me. He suggested a procedure that was life changing. This "organization" is out-of-their mind ridiculous! It's unconscionable how the surgeons and the office manager believe that what they're doing is alright. My wife hurt her hip quite seriously and the ER gave us the names to this place. I called the next morning and was happy that we could get in that same afternoon. The lady on the phone seemed to know what she was doing so I wasn't concerned. She mentioned that I could print out the documents before we arrived, which was great. Needless to say, on our way to the office, my wife started to read the yelp! reviews and became nervous/concerned, but didn't think much else of it since we were minutes away and we were told that we'd be able to be seen with "minimal wait" times. The appointment time was for 2:45 pm. We arrived at 3:05 pm, although I called to let them know we were running behind due to a freight train. They said it wasn't any problem at all and to still head on in. I gave the lady at the front desk my wife's ID and insurance card and was told to have a seat while they made their copies. Twenty minutes went by so I went up to the desk to ask for the cards back and then to find out how much longer the wait would take. She said to have a seat while she went to find out. After she walked out of sight behind the wall, she can be heard laughing and cackling with other people! I asked another lady if this was seriously how things are run? Sad to say, another waiting patient told my wife that she is "forced" to come to this office per her company's worker's comp rules, otherwise, she'd never return. The lady who went to check on the wait time returned just to say that the medical staff was with other patients so they couldn't tell us how much longer it would be. When I asked her to remove my wife's data from their system, she asked me if there was a reason for that. At that point, my nerves were beyond shot. I asked for a supervisor or anyone else to speak with, but was told that the manager was out of the office. I'm sure that was a lie too. I said that I wanted my wife's info wiped from their system once again and the attitude from her just blew me away! It's astounding how lax the staff behaves with a room full of patients while they sit behind their desk mucking about with social media on their computers. I know this because they were talking to each other about it! One of the clinical staff had to come out to bring some papers to another patient and when I tried to get her attention, she actually said that she couldn't help me because she's not a "front desk person"!! No one ever called us back after we left the office. I called the next day to speak to the manager ... who was not in the office. I said I'd like a call back the same day and the lady said she wasn't sure that it would be possible as the manager hops around among the different offices. Everything about this place is not quite right. You really have to wonder how they manage to keep their patients. read more

When a company, or in this case s surgeon, brings other professionals to be part of a patient's medical team someone still needs to take ownership of all the team members' actions and verify that the patient's care is being performed according to the standards promised directly or implied by the surgeon's reputation. it is called Vendor Management in the business world and in finance regulators audit to make it is properly done. I chose Dr McNally as my surgeon but had no choice in the general surgeon, hospital, medical equipment vendors and so on. The surgery went south badly and had I not gotten out of the Alexian Brothers I would likely not be here today. Fortunately I recognized I was in real trouble and got to another hospital where I was admitted in serious condition: for a week I underwent multiple surgical procedures to repair damage. The issue is that the medical problems were caused by members of the team. I kept telling the many doctors coming to see me at Alexian Brothers that I had an infection, I kept telling them my leg was twice it's normal size, numb, and extremely painful. All the doctors pointed to each other. Prior to surgery I was never told I would have a bone growth stimulator but got a call from a vendor and that is how I found out. Today, a month later I discovered the bone growth stimulator was not properly set up but of course no one in the Doctor's office ever told me I was to have the device or how it should be used so again, not MY doctor or his direct staff's "fault" according to their logic. With Dr McNally no one is managing the subcontractors despite the fact that some of them have the greatest likelihood of killing or seriously harming you! Don't even think you will be able to actually talk to hour doctor by phone - better chance of getting God himself. I am lucky to be alive. My treatments to reverse damage continue and will for some time to come. Just sad. Make sure you understand how serious these gaps in care management and look deeply into each doctor and the hospital reputation. Your spine surgeon is a very small part of all that can go wrong. read more

I must say that I didn't have a bad experience at all. Sure, I will admit that Dr. Freedberg was rushed and very brief every time I met with him. Most of my interaction was with the PA, who I thought was fantastic. This company is completely ridiculous. It couldn't be more apparent that management doesn't take their employees serious. I warned a neighbor about the very poor and dissatisfying customer service, but he had little choice except to take his son here because he's a high school athlete and was instructed to do. After several visits, my neighbor not only decided to bring his kid to another surgeon, but couldn't stop complaining about very similar things. The awful wait time, the topic of conversations that were easily heard by those ladies at the front desk, and even lack of adequate face time with the doctor! These complaints were all too familiar. Without provocation, this neighbor mentioned that he'd make a complaint to the management department, but he wouldn't know whose names to give as the staff wasn't identifiable, except by physical description. I today had my final follow up with Dr. Howard Freedberg and i must say i am very pleased with the outcome. I was involved in a motor vehicle accident injuring my hand and knee. Being that im younger i didn't want to have long term damage preventing me from playing sports. Everyone in the office is friendly(normal) and Dr. Freedberg is personable. Its been three months now since my accident and i know I've made the good choice coming here. If i am ever injured or if a friend or family member is hurt i will definitely recommend Dr. Freedberg!!! Had an appointment with Dr. Freedburg for an injured thumb. Had to wait an hour past my appointment time to be seen, fine things happen. I was take back for x-rays and to see the Dr.. Dr Freedburg suggested that I need a wrist brace, I informed him that I had one and wouldn't be needing a new one. He insisted that I get the one his office has, because it's "better". It did the dame thing as the one I already had that cost me maybe $20. I get my bill in the mail and see I was charged $369 just for the wrist brace that I already had, and after doing some research found the same brace only costs $35.99 online. I called billing thinking there must be a mistake and I was billed for the wrong item. The woman I spoke to from the billing department informed me that that was the price they are "allowed" to bill to the insurance. I asked how they can inflate the price of this item over 1000%. She said again thats what they are able to charge to the insurance, and that yes, if I were to purchase it from a medical device store it would only cost me $35. Still no explanation of why they charge so much for the divice other than that they can. If I would have know I could purchase it for 1000% less than what I'm ending up paying, I would have rather took the inconvenience of driving to a health supply store to purchase it my self. I feel robbed, and stuck with an outrageous and unethical bill. I wish I was more informed ar the time. Will not return for future needs. read more

I went to this practice a couple years back and loved it. When I injured foot this past weekend, first people I thought to call was Suburban Ortho. They squeezed me in on a holiday week at their Elgin office. I hadn't been to that office previously but figured I would receive the same level care as did at the other locations. This was not the case! The reception staff was confrontational and not understanding. Frustrated I left the reception area and went into the hallway to try and resolve the matter with a supervisor so that I could be seen. I was unable to get in touch with one, but another staff member worked to try and resolve the situation. We eventually got on the same page and I believed I was on my in to see the doctor. BOY WAS I WRONG! Since the supervisor wasn't available, I said I would speak them regarding the matter at a later date. I was pulled into a conference room in the doctors office were the proceeded to call the supervisor with staff member previously had an issue with in the room. I felt like I was being called into the principals offices to get punished. And that's pretty much what it was. The supervisor got on the phone after they reached out to him on a different number than what was provided to me. He talked to me like I was child and that they could simply careless about their patient. I even asked the supervisor, if he thought he was talking to a child because exactly how he treated me. I have never had an experience like this in my adult life and would not recommend any to get an appointment, at least not at the Elgin office. I will be finding a new practice and will pass along my experience to anyone asking for a opinion or referral. read more

Executive summary: Dr. Howard Freedberg and Suburban Orthopedics offers state-of-the-art facilities, accurate, reliable and professional diagnosis and treatment. If he was a quarterback, he would be Tom Brady, and the team around him, the New England Patriots. Long form: Dr. Freedberg diagnosed my meniscal tear accurately and professionally using MRI. You would think this is par for the course, but it is not. (Thinking I just had a sprain, I had previously seen a top orthopedic at a large practice near our house who took only an X-ray and opined "you have inflammation, and possibly a pinched or torn meniscus. It might get better, if not come back and see me." He also gave me a tutorial on why MRIs aren't really all that helpful because "everybody has some meniscus damage over time.") Turns out I didn't "get better", I got worse, my knowledgeable sister urged me to get an MRI, so I sought out Dr. Freedberg this time, as we have a long history, and I had lost faith and confidence in the other physician, for that and other reasons. For example, the "other" doctor's assistant gave me a cheap and ineffective knee brace, again opining "probably Medicare will pay for it." It wasn't a "durable medical device" and so they didn't. Duh. They should have known, but again, they weren't all that patient-centric. What the hell, ey? Dr. Freedberg, on the other hand, has a staff just for durable medical devices; they provided me a deluxe $300 model, worked great, Medicare approved and covered. Dr. Freedberg also has on site MRI, PT, the works. Everything about Dr. Freedberg and Suburban Orthopedics is spot on, state-of-the-art, accurate, reliable and professional: no "opinions" vs. hard fact MRI diagnosis, no misdirection about DMD's, Medicare reimbursements, etc. Now for the best part: the surgery. Normally quite outgoing, Dr. Freedberg had his game face on for the procedure, done at Ashton Surgery Center, near his office, did a great job, as I expected, I had no pain afterwards. Zero. I felt a little burning sensation on my knee in hours after, that went away. However: In the spirit of full disclosure, one problem ensued. The pre and post op surgical nurse at Ashton Surgery Center (who was otherwise a wonderful and sensitive person) urged me to take two Narcos, day and night, every four hours for several days ("set your alarm for middle of the night -- you MUST stay ahead of the pain!!!" She never asked if I actually had any pain, just assumed I would be in agony, I guess). The actual pill bottle said take "only as needed," one or two pills, but me being an (overly) dutiful patient I followed her advice, took 2 pills every four hours and got some terrific nausea and constipation from the hydrocordone (both abated in time). Bad advice. I actually never had any pain from the procedure, probably due to Dr. Freedberg's skill. Dr. Freedberg is the best, so is his associate, Dr. Tony C. I saw Dr. Freedberg in 2009 for knee pain; he diagnosed me then with tight IT band, which was overcome with exercises. So it's not all about surgery. He handled my son's ACL tear many years ago; my son went on to do triathlon, marathon and squat 250 lbs for reps, more than 20 years later, with no problem. My daughter's wrist injury he referred to a specialist (correctly). In conclusion, I live a long distance from Bartlett, but drive there willingly to go with the best. We trust and admire Dr. Freedberg, and I am happy to have him on my team as our go-to orthopedist. I highly recommend Dr. Freedberg. If you live southwest, great, if not, it's worth the drive to have the no. 1 orthopedic physician on your side. read more

There may be other doctors as skilled as them, maybe not; but IMO there is no other team of doctors as skilled AND committed to respecting the patient and the patients goals as these guys! Just went through an arthroscopic repair of my right knee cartilage and meniscus - and, no kidding, I mowed the lawn 3 days later, was riding my bike 3-5 miles a day after 4 days - and experienced very little discomfort, let alone pain during rehab. My 17 year old daughter had a volleyball injury at her game last Wednesday. She had torn her ACL 5 years ago on the same knee and thought she had done it again. We saw Dr Freedberg last Thursday and his bedside manner left a lot to be desired. My daughter was near tears and he said "the ACL is either torn or not". Those were his only thoughts except for saying "there's some play in the knee". She had an MRI on Saturday and the technician said the results would be ready Monday. I called on Monday and they said only the doctor could give the results. I asked for the doctor to call me and the MRI technician made a note for the same. It's now Tuesday and Dr Freedberg couldn't be bothered to call me back. Needless to say I cancelled our Thursday appointment and made an appointment with another doctor. The MRI and other staff were wonderful. It's too bad I can't say the same for Dr Freedberg. read more

I do agree with some of the reviews that the wait times can be long, but Dr. McNally is worth the wait. He spends as much time with you as you need to get all of your questions answered, and even when he is running behind, he doesn't short change the next patient to catch back up. Dr. Howard Freedburg at Suburban Ortho. was a second opinion for me. When i met Dr. Freedburg I knew he was the one I wanted to perform my surgery. I had a meniscus tear and had been suffereing for about a month. They were able to get me into surgery right away and it went great. Afterwards, I was lucky enough to be able to go to Physical Therapy there also. My PT Katie was so awesome!!!! After 6 weeks of therapy my knee started to hurt again. I was able to get an appointment quick with Dr. F. I was very upset so, Katie my PT came with me to my appointment (who would do that!). Dr. F was really concerned about how I was feeling and came up with a solution immediately, He drained my knee and gave me a shot of cortizone and within 24 hours I was feeling no pain. I feel as if they really cared about me and my well being. I would definitely recommend Dr. Freedburg!!! read more

Do not recommand this office at all!! I have to wait more than one and half hour before seeing a physician assistant. Staff was very rude, never apologized the long waiting hour, and the nurse did not even bother to greet us. This was the most horrible experience for a doctor appointment. Stayed in the office for more than 2 hours, only got to spend less than 5 minutes with the PA. Do not go to this doctor office unless you want to get upset. read more

Office visit was completely screwed up from the get go. Nurse took my history and wrote foot injury when I was actually there for a knee injury. Dr. came in too one look at xrays I had in emergency 2 days early, said he didn't like them ordered new xrays. Didn't like the knee imobilizer emergency gave me and ordered a new one, of course from their PT department. Ordered an MRI and that dept insisterd I can only get it done there and not at an outside MRI center, but wanted me to wait a week before they could fit me in. I opted to go to a center closer to home and got in the next day. A prescription for pain meds was called into the wronf pharmacy. I have NEVER gotten to speak to the Dr about my MRI results. 2 office staff personnel told me he will not talk to me over the phone, I need to make an appointment. Yeah, so I can pay another co-pay and them bill my insurance another outrageous amount. Oh, have I mentioned that said knee brace above got billed at over $1000. I've had 2 other doctors confirm there was NO need to put me in that type of brace until AFTER my MRI results IF the results warrented it. The second set of xrays should not have been done because an MRI was going to be ordered. Oh, and what about the charge of $170 for putting the brace on me knee???? I would NEVER recommend this office to anyone and am working on a formal complaint. read more

I had a L5 S1 spinal fusion done by Dr. Thomas McNally in July of 2015. It was honestly, one of the best things I have ever done! Previously, I had a laminectomy performed a year ago, which did not solve my terrible pinched nerve problem. My mom recommended Dr. McNally, as she had a double spinal fusion done by him 5 years ago. I will say the waiting room can be a little crowded and the wait can be tiresome, but it is seriously worth every minute! The office staff is VERY thorough and friendly and Dr. McNally is top notch, spending as much time with you as you need - I've never felt rushed. Please don't be discouraged by other reviews with negative feedback. You will be highly satisfied with the care provided by Suburban Orthopaedics. My surgery was just 3 months ago, and I am thrilled to say I just started running again!!! :D The pain I had carried around with me for the last 3 1/2 years is totally gone! My advice: Make the appointment, deal with any wait there may be (make an early appt. if possible) and get your life back! read more
