I joined SUBU three months ago, after just moving to the area. A lot of people said this was the gym to be at, and they were right. The community is awesome- super friendly, welcoming, and just a great vibe overall. Everyone I talk to has been here for 4, 5, 6, even 7+ years, which says everything about how special this place is. The coaches are amazing, focused on correct form, building skill, and making sure you get the most out of every workout. They have scaled options for everything, so no matter where you're at, you'll feel like you can do this and grow. I love walking in, seeing the workout, and thinking, I'm going to do that?! The "during" is always challenging, but walking out feeling proud and accomplished makes it all worth it. I've made this part of my daily routine, and I'm already seeing results. If you're thinking about joining- do it! You won't regret it. read more

Joining SUBU CrossFit has been one of the best decisions I've made for both my physical and mental well-being. From day one, I felt welcomed by the community, and now I've made some amazing friendships with people who share the same goals and interests. There's something really special about surrounding yourself with others who push you, support you, and genuinely want to see you succeed. One of the most inspiring parts of SUBU is the incredibly strong and supportive group of women here. The energy is empowering--everyone celebrates each other's wins, lifts each other up, and motivates one another to keep showing up and getting better. Being surrounded by such badass women has pushed me to go further than I ever thought I could. Since starting, I've seen a huge improvement in my gymnastic skills--movements that once felt impossible are now part of my regular workouts. My body composition has also noticeably changed for the better; I feel stronger, leaner, and more confident in my own skin. But above all, what keeps me coming back is how fun it is. The coaches know how to challenge us while keeping the energy high and the workouts exciting. I actually look forward to going to the gym EVERY SINGLE DAY! SUBU isn't just a gym, it's a community, and I'm so grateful to be part of it. read more

Just had one day at Subu and I'm in love! I've never done Crossfit before but lift weights everyday and am very active. Upon entering I was greeted by multiple different people including the owner, Miguel. He made me feel confident that I will be capable of doing everything that they do during class. Miguel and another instructor had an eye on me through the entire workout and gave me instructions for proper form. Upon entering into the initial workout, I was taken aside with another new girl and they broke down the movements for us and allowed us both to practice with low weight in order to get the proper form. We then increased weight slowly and kept practicing the movements. The next workout was pretty simple but they still made sure we knew what we were doing and completed the movements properly and safely. I had a great experience at my first day of Crossfit! It is extremely important that they took me aside and made sure I was using proper form the entire time. Then even kept an eye on me after I already mastered the movements. I definitely lucked out that there was another new girl who seemed to be around the same age as me. But I am going back tonight by myself and very excited to continue learning Crossfit. They made me very confident that I am always welcome there and can ask any amount of questions that I need in order to be safe in my workouts. I can't wait to keep going and become a real crossfitter!! read more

If you walk into the office of this box you'll see a photo of these guys coaching and working out in the back yard of their house. It's quite fun to see where they came from. A bunch of passionate people working out wanting and sharing fitness. This is exactly the kind of attitude that they brought to their box. The community is amazing, great friendly people excited for you to hit that PR, the coaches are excellent and fun without being pushy or "army bootcampy" as I like to say about certain coaches in other boxes I've come across. I was dropping in for two weeks while in town for business and these guys welcomed me and my friends with open arms. They pay attention to everybody, if you're a regular or dropping in, they make sure everybody knows how to do the movements, and keep a safe and friendly environment. This is a family box. You may walk in being a stranger, but you walk out having made new friends and being part of this fitness bond that bring us together in the sport of CrossFit. Come here and get your WOD on with these great bunch of people. You won't regret it. read more

I didn't have a great experience but it was an isolated incident. Thanks for following up and making it right.

Highly recommend it for out-of-town visitors! Easy drop in process. Very friendly athletes. Extremely nice coaches. Corey was great!. read more

I travel quite a bit for work and always try to find a CrossFit box so I can do a WOD with other folks instead of doing a WOD in my hotel. I found Subu CrossFit and am happy that I did. It is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Orlando. They only opened about a month ago (as of July 2012) but they are off to a great start. It's the prototypical CrossFit box...CrossFitters becoming box owners. One thing stood out for me vs. some other boxes I've visited. Larry and Miguel paid a lot of attention to the members working on the fundamentals of the Snatch prior to the WOD and then again during the WOD (Isabel). You can tell they care about what they are doing and aren't just hopping on the CrossFit bandwagon trying to make a buck. Very welcoming to out-of-towners. read more

Had an opportunity to drop in from out of town today... coach was super friendly and got me squared away quickly. Interesting enough they do the WOD first followed by the Olympic lifts / training which I found interestingly different. As a side note, the WOD was challenging and as the norm I had to hang on for dear life. As a final side note, the coach said they normally turn on the AC in November! read more

We dropped in during our stay in Orlando and had a great workout. The staff were welcoming and friendly. This was the second box we visited during our stay and much further from our hotel but it was totally worth the drive. Highly recommended if you are visiting the area . read more

Affordable and great coaching! Helped be get through the basics and understand what a good base for Crossfit is (it's your core). They always have 2-3 people there willing to help you learn. Also, they love burpees.....which is a bittersweet workout for me for sure lol. I would say they have great workout planning. They do not overwhelm muscle groups like I have seen. Also, the epitome of a judge free zone :) all are welcome! I would encourage to do the free week trial, you'll most likely sign up! read more

I was in from out of town and I dropped in at SUBU CrossFit and was welcomed like I was part of the family. Coach Chris did a great job getting us familiar with the box and ensuring he knew our experience and skill level. Had a tough WOD with a great crowd of folks. Will definitely be back next time I am in Orlando. read more

The SUBU trainers are amazing, they get to know you by name well and treat you like family. When I started I didn't have a clue of CrossFit so these are several things that I really like about SUBU CrossFit. 1) the convenient schedules for classes. So you can join at anytime to any class 15 minutes prior. 2) The SUBU trainers will teach you every movement you will do during the class always making sure that you maximize the efficiency of exercise and avoid injuries. As well they're constantly checking upon you to make sure you're doing it correctly. 3) Last but not least, the SUBU CrossFit community is awesome. Everyone supports each other during the workouts. I've never had that experience before. They push you to become the best version of yourself. read more

The instructor are super nice and very hands on. They takes good care of me and my friends that tries the 1 week free pass. Must try out this gym :) read more

I dropped in during a stay in Orlando. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. If you're staying nearby, I definitely recommend checking this place out. The vibe is amazing and I loved the decor. Definitely will check out again if I'm ever in the area! read more

Great location, friendly people, all the equipment you would expect and need to get a quality workout. The folks at SUBU made me feel at home and gave me the space to perform my own training plan while in the road. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Orlando. read more

Just finished my work out at SUBU. Miguel et al, thank you! Our workout consisted of hill runs and rope climbs for a warm up followed by a partner wod of Double Fran and Double Elizabeth. Needless to say we all left happy and exhausted. Please note that drop-ins are $20 and come with a shirt. Also, it's a 5-10 minute run from ALoft so no excuses. read more

Was in Orlando visiting family for the holidays and wanted to drop in at a local box. Had an awesome workout at Subu - it was appropriately themed 12 Days of Christmas - and was 35 minutes of tough work. Miguel was a great coach providing good instruction throughout, and the community seemed great. The facility is also top notch - great equipment and everything you need for a crossfit workout. Definitely will be back next time I'm in town. read more

This was the most insanely brutal workout I have ever had in my entire life. I couldn't even breathe afterwards and was unable to walk for 4 days. I got plenty of individual attention though and they definitely know what they're doing. It was just way too intense for me so I didn't sign up. This place is for the gladiator, hardcore type of athlete...Which I'm not lol read more

I dropped in for a week while I was in Orlando for work and I can't recommend this gym enough. I felt welcome and at home with the staff and members. Everyone was so friendly!! The programming was well developed and the warm-up was thorough. I love my home gym, but if I ever have to relocate to Orlando I already have a gym picked out. read more

Just arrived in Kississimee Florida Monday. Went to SUBU CrossFit via reference from my friend, who had dropped in there previously. This place is great! The atmosphere reminds me of an old school gym. Not one time have I felt like an outsider here. You instantly feel welcomed here. Highly recommend stopping in. read more

Terrific experience at Subu today. Maddy and Miguel were very welcoming and I enjoyed the people and the programming. Highly recommend it!

Was in Orlando for baseball and looked up CrossFit boxes near my hotel. Saw Subu and had heard of it through word of mouth. The place is awesome! I have been doing CF for about 6 years and this place is legit. No BS--just hard work and good workouts. Coach Miguel was super nice, accommodating, and constantly asked how I was doing. Had some nice convo with a few other members. And the workout was a ton of fun. This place reminds me of my home box--functional and gritty. Will 120% be dropping in here again next time I'm in the Orlando area, and suggest anyone else around joins and drops in too! read more

Awesome gym! Coaches are on point and the people are friendly. I felt right at home. Perfect amount of equipment, no one was crowded, programming was intense!! Loved every moment of it. Will be back soon read more

SUBU CrossFit is exactly the motivation I need to workout and remain dedicated. The owners (Miguel & Larry) do an excellent job in making the gym a very friendly and welcome environment, and they make sure everyone is maintaing form and performing at their own level, while pushing others to their limits when they see capable. It's a great way to challenge yourself and see results as the WODs become more of an opportunity for you to find a new PR in any activity. read more

I was skeptical of starting Crossfit, I was set on my regular gym routine but I also didn't really feel challenged any longer from it. Subu lets you try out their program for a week for free (great deal if you're unsure on whether or not Crossfit is for you). By day 3 I was 100% certain I'd join. The place is incredible. Every single coach I've interacted with goes out of their way to help you out. If your form is bad, they'll help you improve. If your form is good, they'll let you know. If you need to scale any of the exercises, they'll work with you to make sure you're doing good and getting the most of your workout. That alone makes for a great box and a fantastic workout every time. I've also made so many friends since joining Subu. Every one is incredibly friendly and it's great seeing familiar faces every time you go (and don't miss too many classes, your coaches/peers will notice ) read more

I dropped in here while visiting Orlando. The gym has a cool, gritty feel. The owners were welcoming and didn't charge me a drop in fee since I bought a t shirt. The members were friendly and the coaching was good. Great place - great workout read more

I tried to get information about coming in and was never called back(called four times). I read the reviews and thought it was a good choice but sadly was let down. I did a drop in here on 5/13. Enjoyed working out with the 5:30 pm group. Miguel was encouraging and checked in on me multiple times. I didn't feel like an outsider and will definitely return when I am in town. read more

Dropped in at SUBU while I was in Orlando for work. Super easy to get to if you are staying downtown. Greeted by all as soon as I walked in the door. Only took a few minutes to feel right at home. Solid workout and great coaches. I will definitely be back. read more

I love SUBU. Why? When I was looking for a box I was seeking a box with a set of coaches who had great experience and different coaching styles. I wanted to be a part of a crossfit family who has passion and respect for the sport. I wanted to be surrounded by amazing athletes who pushed and supported each other. That's SUBU. It was built from the ground up (check out the video on the blog). The coaches all have great experience, awesome athletic backgrounds and so much passion for people and the sport. The athletes all "show up and blow up" daily. SUBU gives back to the community. SUBU supports their athletes with their goals and provides great technical training that can be humbling, but it ensures that the athletes are safe. Crossfit can be terrifying for people and I feel SUBU does an amazing job of making sure everybody realizes that they can crossfit. Honestly, I could go on but these are huge reasons as to why I love SUBU!!! read more

Awesome facility, amazing coaches and even better athletes. Felt like home the first time I walked in the door! Show Up and Blow Up!

It's not for everyone. If your main goal is to focus on fitness and not fit into a clique it's probably not the place for you. If you are lacking a social atmosphere and need that I would say this is the place for you. I agree the people were friendly but it feels more like high school kids trying to be cool than a family community and place to improve your fitness. read more

When traveling for work I try to find local Crossfit gyms. I was staying in Orlando and SUBU was 3 locks from my hotel. I called to let them know I would like to take an evening class and they were so pleasant on the phone. Miguel and Larry were wonderful and so nice and accommodating. I took a great class and they have a great spot. Thanks for having me! If I'm in Orlando again I'll be back! read more
