They charged me two $50 missed appointment fees the week my 92 year old dad got sepais and we had to take him into the ICU. Mom died half a year earlier and I thought I was going to lose my Dad too (it was a difficult year). Other times there were "miscommunications" about expected charges (besides regular cleanings and fillings I've needed a few crowns and a root canal). I'd recommend ALWAYS getting a written estimate and holding on to it. Last summer a filling came out while I was out of state. I left a question on the office voicemail after-hours. I woke up the next day to find they had scheduled me for an appointment without speaking to me and they were unhappy I didn't make an appointment that I never made. They also were always leaving messages at the last minute asking me to come in earlier or later. As a caregiver who also works for the State it's really difficult to get away or change my schedule at last minute. I found out from my new dentist they also sent a snarky note along with my records. I found them really difficult to work with. I recommend trying other places first.

They were not able to see me until January 29th leaving with a hole in my front tooth. They then changed the appointment to February 2nd. I voiced m opinion in a letter written to the dentist. He then called me on February 2nd refusing to fix the bridge. I also asked repeatedly in emails to send me my records and the name of the dentist that would work on my bridge. They sent a document that was encrypted and I could not open. They refused to send me my payments that I have made. They also refused to send me the information where the original dentist is practicing. Within the past year alone, this denture has broken three separate times. This is unacceptable for work of this cost and nature. While I understand that the dentist who originally completed the work no longer practices there and that the office has changed ownership, Salem Family and Cosmetic Dentistry purchased this practice and assumed responsibility for its patients and prior dental work. I have also been told that you will not repair the denture unless I pay upfront, allegedly due to my "attitude." I am upset because I have every right to be given that I have had to deal with three failures of a very expensive denture in less than a year. My frustration comes from feeling ignored, dismissed, and treated unfairly.

I only have / had a metal retainer on my bottom teeth and only need to pop in about once every two years. Sadly, after 8ish years, my metal retainer popped off. And now that I'm in Salem, I had to find someone new. I am SO glad I picked here. First, it is the nicest dentist / orthodontist building I have ever been in. Very class, well decorated, it's actually a peaceful place. Second, every single staff member is nice. Genuinely nice. Front desk, the dental assistants, the actual orthodontist, everyone. They were able to put my metal retainer back on quickly, relatively pain free, and easy enough. This time around, the dang retainer popped off again! Only three months after getting it replaced, I called to see if they would put it back on no charge. They happily agreed and scheduled me as early as next day! I went in today and asked if it would be possible to switch from the permanent metal retainer to the evening plastic retainer. They were more than happy to oblige, and still cover it for me! I was able to get in, change the plan, have my teeth checked, and new retainer made all in less than an hour. Amazing experience, amazing people. I will recommend this orthodontist to all my Salem peeps forever!
