I've certainly experienced that, and feel as though I'm on high alert whenever walking into a dealership, expecting it to be a less than fun experience. Ty Curry and the entire crew at VW of Hartford however, were so much different than that, and I now have a new favorite dealership to turn to. I emailed an inquiry about a VW Alltrack on a Sunday when they were closed, and decided to risk it and drive from Brooklyn, NY to Hartford first thing Monday morning not knowing if the car I was looking for was still available. Ty responded to the email as soon as they opened and we spoke on the phone as well on my way up. He said he'd have the car ready for a test drive and even met outside to greet me upon my arrival. He was incredibly knowledgeable on the whole VW lineup, and jumped right in to show me a cool feature on the car I was driving that I knew nothing about. He could not have been a more genuinely nice person, and clearly had a real passion for his job. I knew the general price point I was looking at as well as the car I wanted to buy, which of course made the process pretty straight forward. Once we sat down, there was none of the BS that I've experienced at other dealerships, and the back and fourth with the sales manager was quick and easy. We made a deal I was really happy with, and drove back to pick up my car after detailing a few days later. I also received a courtesy call the next day from Ty to make sure everything was perfect. I drove from Brooklyn two solid hours to avoid dealing with another NY/NJ dealership, and I couldn't be happier with that decision. With few exceptions, I've found that buying a car outside of the immediate NYC area is a smart move, and I'd absolutely do it again and would 100% recommend Ty Curry and VW of Hartford for your next car purchase.

The main reason why I kept returning was because of the customer service and attention to detail. When I first walked in there was a M3 getting a $40k plus car audio install with the best equipment in the industry. Here I was trying to get some used subs I bought off ebay installed and wired up to my car. Right away I was thinking it would be too expensive or my job would be too small for them to even consider. Nope, they priced out what it would cost (same price if not cheaper than the big box stores) and our relationship grew from that moment on. They never once tried to up-sell me either; they just give honest opinions from previous experiences. They're a call or a short drive away and have helped me on numerous occasions. I am now fortunate to have a nicer car with very finicky electrical systems. There is no other place I would feel comfortable bringing my car to get any electronic work done. Mom's been happy with their work for years, and now I'm happy with it as well. I had to recently have some work done to my father-in-law's car and it took a little bit of time to get the first appointment in (just under 2 weeks) so that wasn't an issue. We had questions about replacing the coils, should we replace all 8, should we test and only replace the bad ones, could I buy the parts somewhere else if I found them cheaper. They answered every question and talked through the options with me. In the end, we did all the spark plugs and they tested the coils and replaced the single bad one they found. We made another appointment and brought the car back to have the passenger window repaired a few weeks later. We'll definitely continue to bring work here. They explained in detail what was needed to complete the repair and made some additional recommendations of related repairs that should be done while the motor was dismantled.
