Title: Deceptive Sales Practices at White Plains Subaru Not long ago, I was shopping for a Subaru Solterra. There was a lease promotion available, and the only dealership that initially confirmed they had the offer and would honor it was Rye Subaru. They provided excellent service and were transparent throughout the process. Meanwhile, White Plains Subaru contacted me and stated that they would honor the same lease terms. The salesperson went further and promised that, if I brought a written offer, they would upgrade me to the next trim level for the same monthly price. I obtained the written offer and went to White Plains Subaru. The salesperson showed it to the manager. Instead of honoring the promise, I was offered the same vehicle for an additional $50 per month. The salesperson acknowledged that he had promised the higher trim at the same quoted price but said they would not honor it. This experience left me extremely disappointed. A dealership's word should mean something. I will not return to White Plains Subaru, and I believe consumers deserve clear, honest, and consistent communication when making significant financial decisions. read more

The absolute worst car buying experience in 40 years of buying new cars. Tried to do it online and 4 different people in 3 days messaged me with nonstop emails. They didn't read the string. They didn't give me the simple answers I needed. Run-around does not begin to describe the amount of drama here. Why do we need dealerships? Would not answer my questions directly. Went for a test drive. Still could not get direct answers. Finally got a written piece of paper. Refused to come down in price. Found the same car at Toyota for $6K less. Worst dealership I've ever been to, they make promises that they don't deliver on .. unless you hound them and hold their feet to the fire, absolutely no follow through in regards to call backs or communication, and availability of key personnel is non existent ..unless you are new money walking through the door, absolutely no emphasis is put on serving existing customers , sales department is a disorganized joke , and also dishonest, it's all about the money at this place, will never do business with them again and I have called corporate and started a case regarding this dealership. This is my 6th year with Subaru White Plains and into my 3rd car lease with them! I have always been treated great with the returns of the old lease to begin with a new one. It's stress free dealing with them. And should anything arise that wasn't at first done correctly, they do their best to rectify it. I take that as wanting to keep their customers happy and of course coming back. I also recommend their service center. Again always treated fabulously. I take my car in for all of the scheduled maintenance without fail. It's always easy to make an appointment and stress-free. Do not trust anything they say. Be warned. They "allegedly" take kickbacks for running your credit through certain lenders. i was told they tried Cap One and cap one said 15.9% APR. I called cap one myself and got 6.04%. Further cap one, and bank of America stated they never received anything. Do your due diligence. I'm sure they have lied to many. read more

As a lifelong fan of motorsport and Subaru racing heritage this place does nothing but disrespect to the Subaru name. Workers here are spineless, practicing shady business with no regards to customers who have purchased multiple Subarus, not to mention 1 previously from this dealer. Multiple sales people and "Leaders" gave a quote and signed off on a price, then 1 day before picking up the car they proceed to say they messed up by multiple thousands of dollars. No compensation, took no accountability, and no negotiation off their mistake. Their whole staff lost a customer who already purchased 1, was in the process of buying another, and was planning on potentially buying multiple other Subarus from here. I have the upmost respect for Subaru as an automotive company, but it is these practices where they lose loyal customers and true members of the car community, at the minimum I will never step foot back in this dealership, but I also need to rethink the brand if this is who they have representing their name. read more

I highly recommend that you steer clear of this dealership. They typify every stereotype about dishonest car salespeople. My wife and I went to purchase an outback touring, but they did not have the requested trim in stock. They told us they could order one, and it would be there in no more than 4 weeks. We explained that 4 weeks was the absolute longest we could wait, and if there was any chance it would not arrive, we would get another car. Needless to say, 4 weeks came and went. The salesperson would not return my voicemails or emails (at one point, all emails were bouncing back because his inbox was full). Finally I spoke to the manager, who promised to "make things right" and deduct a $1000 from the price. When the car finally arrived, 8 weeks after we first ordered it, the $1000 price difference conveniently matched certain add-ons we had originally ordered and which were not included. Even after we signed the lease, the disrespect continued. The leasing agent upsold us on prepaid maintenance, and then we received a letter from Subaru saying that the limits were actually much lower than the agent had promised us (without any refund). 10 days letter and voicemails every single day and I still cannot get a response. read more

They are not responsive, and don't try to fix problems for customers. I bought a "pre-certified Subaru Impresa" after two year's of having it. The car started giving me problems. I took it to my trusted mechanic and they explained that the dealer should be dealing with a few problems the car was experiencing since it's a certified pre-owned. He was upset he couldn't get the deal done on the spot but I told him I just needed a couple of days to think it over. Monday comes and I tell him I decided to go through with the deal , I fill out a credit application and do my part, what does Chris tell me?? His manager doesn't want to do the deal because I walked away and didn't take the car on the spot. Chris is Great, but his manager ( the owner of the dealership I believe- he was the finance manager) is a piece of pompous garbage. Finally the opportunity came for us to purchase a slightly used Ascent. My husband drove it from SC yesterday. However my full experience was dampened because somehow the memory feature for the rear door was not working causing a non stop bell. We drove to Subaru and the production specialist team was soooo helpful. They worked on it for almost an hour. Five different people tried to help us. I made an appointment to talk to someone, when I got to the dealership, the receptionist had to ask about 6 guys (who were lounging) to see if someone could help me, but they all said they were ready to go home, why make an appointment then?? Finally a young kid helped me, gave me some numbers, i left and that night, I emailed a couple of questions and asked to see the vehicle i wanted, but After waiting two weeks without any response I gave up. They can't even credit the correct account when paying off my old lease, nor can they give the correct amount of the new lease to Chase. 3 months later and I'm still wasting my time for their ineptitude! They just wanted to move what they had, so did not explain what the different packages had. Ended up with an Outback that does not have blind spot detection (said didn't need a moonroof but they didn't explain the 2 connected). They are like what you imagine old slick car salesmen to be. This was my first time at this dealership and I want to start by saying the staff was kind and professional. I didn't have any negative experiences with their personalities as I've seen in some other reviews. I called to schedule bringing my car in for a recall, and once scheduling the date was told I'd also get a rental car from them since it'll take a few days to complete the recall repairs. Upon arriving the morning of dropping my car off, I was told it was now going to take 2 weeks. Annoying, but that's not really my main concern. Side note: the day prior to bringing my car in, both my headlights went out. I purchased the bulbs, but didn't have time to change them (which I always have my regular mechanic do; I normally change lights myself, however in my car one of the headlights is hard to change because the battery is in the way, so I always have my regular guy who also does my oil changes, etc change that). I also needed to get an oil change, so I left the bulbs in the car and figured I'd bring my car to my regular mechanic for an oil change and to do the lights when I got my car back, as well as my annual NY State Inspection (which was expiring the day after I dropped my car off at Subaru). So, when dropping my car off, they confirmed I was here for the recall and if I needed anything else. I specifically said nope, just the recall please. I pick up the car 2 weeks later, and was told that in addition to the recall being completed, they also did my NY State Inspection "to prevent me from getting a ticket." And, one of my tail lights was out and therefore to pass the inspection they had to change it because "it is a safety issue." Now, I appreciate the thought of me not getting a ticket - but specifically said I was there just for the recall and like to give business to my local mechanic. But, my biggest issue is that they just did this repair and didn't call to ask or even confirm. Yeah, it was only $40, but that's $40 I wouldn't have needed to spend otherwise (I change my own tail lights and think paying $35 for labor on something I didn't give them permission to do is absolutely obnoxious). My favorite part, though: they changed the tail light for "a safety issue," but didn't change my headlights, which were clearly out? I mean, it's good, since I didn't want them to, but it doesn't make sense when they gave their reason for changing the tail light to be safety. So, while I went into my first visit at Westchester Subaru thinking all the reviews were nothing to think of, it turns out you left a bitter taste in my mouth for doing work I didn't approve or know about. Literally could not find a soul who worked there to even ask if we had an appointment, seemed staff were more concerned sitting in their offices and socially chatting with each other. TL;DR- Subaru White Plains totaled my vehicle, gave me the run around and now expect me to pay over $9,000 out of pocket to replace my car. On July 5th, 2022 an employee of Subaru White Plains totaled my car while driving it to the dealership's service center where it was going in for a regular servicing. No one from Subaru White Plains called me to inform me my car was in an accident. I found out over 30 hours later when the tow truck driver called me. I called Subaru White Plains to figure out what was going on and they apologized and said someone would call me to explain and give me next steps. No one ever called me, so I finally went in person to get answers. I was set up to work with Tariq Muhammad, an assistant service manager, to deal with the problem. In the meantime, I spent countless hours calling insurance and the DMV trying to obtain the police report. No one at Subaru White Plains helped me. I obtained and paid for the police report myself. The police report revealed it was completely the Subaru employee's fault as he failed to notice slowing traffic and rear ended the car in front of him. For weeks Tariq wouldn't call me back. So I ended up going in person again to demand a meeting with a supervisor. I spoke to service manager, Frankie Torres. I explained the situation. He scoffed and said "accidents happen" and I would receive the insurance money. I explained to him that I had owned my car since it was new and had been taking care of it and there was value in that. He dismissed my concerns as having an "emotional connection" to my car. I demanded a meeting and on August, 12 met with Vice President Jeremy Abramson, Director of Fixed Operations John DeAngelis and Frankie Torres. I explained the situation that is described above and provided them with copies of the police report. I was again told I had an "emotional connection" to my car by Jeremy and he said they would go above and beyond what insurance was giving me to get me into a preowned, "new to me" car. They also agreed to reimburse me for parking fees at work due to not being able to use my parking permit while in the loaner vehicle. Weeks passed while they put the claim into their insurance (something Tariq told me he had done a month prior). The decision was finally made that I would get the insurance money plus $3,000-$4,000 from the dealership to get me into a used car. I did not think this would be possible, knowing what the current car market is like, nor did I believe I should have to now get a used car, when I had originally purchased my car new. I emailed the CEO of Subaru White Plains, Sean Coughlin to again describe the situation and how their solution was unsatisfactory. He replied to my email telling me again that he knew I had an "emotional connection" to my car. This claim, repeated over and over by upper management felt disconcertingly close to an attempt at being dismissed as an emotional woman. He also stated in the email that asking for a new car is more than he should be reasonably expected to do. However, he expects me to be able to do that even though it was his employees fault. During this time I continued to reach out to Subaru of America for help. They ended up giving me $1,000 towards a new car. I decided to meet with the salesperson they agreed to set me up with to see what my options were. It turns out they have very little inventory. They have absolutely no pre owned sedans. So my "options" would be to lease a new sedan from them (paying approximately $11,000 out of pocket), to buy a preowned SUV from them (inheriting a used car and paying approximately $10,000 out of pocket) or buying a new sedan from them (paying over $9,000 out of pocket). Now I feel like I am being forced to buy a new car from them because this is the most "reasonable" of the options, which is infuriating as I did not cause this accident, was not involved in any way, it was their employee's fault and considering how I've been treated this whole time. I gave them three months where I waited patiently for them to do the right thing. read more

Ed Herman is an absolute gem: He was helpful, kind, generous with his time and always reachable via text and phone for every little question. Their pricing was exceptional, their service was impeccable, and critically, their Covid protocols were tremendous - we felt safe every step of the way. This place is a joke. I know car salesman are generally shitty people to begin with but the employees here are next level. It has been an absolute nightmare doing business here. I feel like this entire experience has been an episode of punk'd and someone's gonna jump out any minute saying "gotchyaa". So unprofessional and cowardly. Around October of 2017, I was looking for a Subaru Crosstrek to purchase so this was the first choice of dealership since it was the closest to where I lived and it had good reviews. I went with my family and looked around on a Friday morning. The guy helping us showed us a basic Crosstrek and said that the starting price is $30,000. WHAT?! I couldn't believe my ears when he said that since I have been researching Crosstreks for the past three weeks and have seen $23,000 as starting price for a basic Crosstrek(automatic). Even the main website's starting price is $22,000+. We ended up driving farther to Rye and got a better deal for $25,000+ with the extras that I wanted for my car. Very disappointed with the service department and dealership overall. My wife and I have purchased three vehicles from here over the past three years. Until recently, I've had nothing but praise for the service I've received. When I had to get all season tires for my WRX, I brought the car here without hesitation. Upon receiving the car back, my clutch is acting up and the dealership refuses to own up to the issue. The fact that I witnessed the same kid who brought my car to me stalling out another WRX multiple times when asked to move it certainly explains how this may have happened. My car has been sitting in their lot since October 17th waiting for Subaru corporate to handle the mess the dealership created, and with the exception of their calling me to swap out my loaner vehicle for another, there's been ZERO communication or follow up on behalf of the dealership. Needless to say, looks like another case of the sales group being very attentive until the point of sale, but you're taking a risk with the service department. Buyer beware. read more

Sept 2018 - brought my 2018 Crosstrek in because my Starlink Radio kept freezing up. And this was the second time I had the issue. I Googled this problem and lots of Subaru owners are having similar issues. Subaru Of America will be getting a letter from me about this especially since the car has only 8,800 miles - Crazy, my friends told me I should have purchased a Honda. Come to find out that my car required a software update, and hope that will fix the issue. Anyway, Tom Chominsky who works for Westchester Subaru is very professional, and always calls you with information on your car, so you are not left in the dark. I have been dealing with Tom since I had my 2007 Subaru, and he is great to deal with. I took the Extended Warranty because all the electronics that are now built into the new cars, I am afraid to bring the car to a local Service Station. All and all, I would bring my car to Westchester Subaru for service. read more

This may be 6 months late, but that has given me time to also experience their Servicing. I HIGHLY recommend White Plains Subaru. I presented them with a difficult situation in getting me out of my Audi trap - they did it. I was also greedy enough to demand a particular model with a particular build - they located the unit. I had to wait a week and a half for the unit to be negotiated and shipped from the West Coast and in that time I tortured Evrol, my sales rep and Michael the financial manager - they were forever calm, informative and understanding (and yes I am quite capable of working a nerve). In the end my car arrived - and was better than I expected - MUCH better. This is the THIRD Subaru I have bought with Michael's (the financial manager) help. I've know him for a decade and he's still incredible. To end, the first servicing of my car: fast, efficient and painless. She was polite and maintained her dignity, but sadly I suspect her maltreatment was because she is a 70+ year old woman. I highly doubt a male customer would have been the recipient of such blatant rudeness. He was attentive, friendly, and thorough. He really took the time to make sure we got everything we wanted in our new Subaru Ascent. We would gladly work with Jimmy again and again. I purchased a car from them in March and decided in July to trade it in for something bigger. I did not go back to them for the trade in. That should give you an idea of what I think of this dealership. It's more like a nightclub than a car dealership - the men looking sharp with their spiky hair and sleek clothing - seem more interested in flirting and socializing with the women who work there than selling a car. My sales rep knew very little about the car I was buying, could answer very few questions and didn't even answer my text messages. He also made sure to tell me that if I decided I wanted the car over the weekend that was coming up, not to call him because he'd be very busy. Rude pressure tactic. There was positively no follow through on my purchase which was my very first Subaru. No follow through from Subaru OR the dealership. I took my business to Rye Subaru and WOW, what a difference. NIGHT AND DAY. I got personal attention, answers to all my issues and then some and purchased the upgrade the very day I went to see it. Servicing my car wasn't much better at this dealership. I made the appointment, carefully giving all the details to them and when I called to confirm, they couldn't even find me in the system. Thank goodness I had a confirmation number. They had my address wrong in their system despite me giving it to them specifically and although I called twice to make sure it was corrected, they STILL sent the tech to the wrong address to pick up my car. They had it for 5 days for some simple recalls and checkups (it's basically a new car) and then couldn't reach me to tell me it was ready because they had THE WRONG PHONE NUMBER in their system despite my giving them the correct information countless times. Never again. I must say however, that the valet service that they offer for service is excellent. I had a loaner for 4 days and loved it so much, I ended up buying one from Rye! read more

When I finally get my car in they tell me it's past the 90 day wattery. How about this due the honorable thing and service my car. Insulting and waste of time experience! We were sent a letter by this dealership indicating they were highly "motivated"to buy our 2018 Crosstrek. We made an appointment in order for them to "appraise our vehicle to provide an accurate trade in value" as indicated by their Business Development Manager Laurel. Our salesperson Stephen spent more time talking to his manager than us. They NEVER looked at our car! We were presented with an unreasonable trade in offer against a selling price of a new crosstrek that didn't even reflect the options we wanted like a moon roof. Stephen seemed surprised that our current car had a moonroof...well I guess that's what happens when you spend more time talking to your manager and don't bother to actual look at the trade in car. I proceeded to show him a written trade in offer from another dealership which seemed to surprise him. His manager didn't even have the guts to speak with us. I purchased a Subaru Forester on 1/30/18 and took delivery the same day. My salesman Mr. Oliver Buckle is a gentleman and very professional. He went out of his way to compare the differences between the above car and the Crosstrek. He went over the entire SUV with me, paired up my Apple i6 to the car radio system. He even drove down to Eastchester to pick me up and bring me up to the dealership as I had sold my old car and had no transportation. He could of had me take a Uber car. The only thing that took way too long was the financial guy due to a girl being in his office ahead of me. This dealership is a great place to do business with and gave me a fantastic deal and also the sales manager Mr. Tracey Keith was very professional and made this sale happen! read more
