The owner could be friendlier to the animals and the customers but people are entitled to their personalities and life choices I will not hold her to it. Fantastic experience with the trail ride here with Susan, the owner and trail leader. Most important to note- Know what you're signing up for! Susan is a lovely older woman who keeps her 3+ horses on her own on her expanse of land with love and care. She is definitely a bit gruff (as another reviewer mentioned) around the edges. Talked to her on the phone before meeting in person, and she's sweet in her own way and is passionate about her job taking care of horses and making people happy with her rides. Call to make an appointment at least 24 hours in advance, no walk-in's. Two riders at a time. Trail rides happen twice a day (11am and 1pm), lasting about an hour each. Won't be cancelled except in cases of heavy rain/severe weather. $40 per person for the hour. Can park on her property. No bathrooms nearby. Starts from the property and goes through trodden paths through the forest-y areas nearby. Susan provides the basics for getting on/off the horses, going uphill/downhill, and keeping pace. No experience needed. Just respect the horses and follow directions. The trails aren't the most picturesque, more like a neighborhood forestland. We went through narrow dirt trails and crossed a few streets with cars along the way. Wish there were more available slots per day, but I'm glad the horses get their well earned rest and hay after their shifts. This website is completely fabricated. There are no experienced people leading you on a beautiful trail ride making sure that you are on the right horse or any of that. It's one 79-year-old woman who couldn't even remember that we had an appointment today. She has two horses that we never saw because after waiting 15 minutes past our appointment time and after having spoken to her reminding her of it, we were still waiting. Then we looked at reviews and found people saying that she's rude to people and hits her horses. We will never support anyone that abuses animals. Took my daughter and niece to ride with her. They both have been on pony rides at the fair. So this was the first time they both went on a full hour journey horseback riding. The lady was nice and explained everything well about what they was going to do. She's just old school country raised lady who lives near the city now. My daughter and niece loved the experience and said they'd do it again as soon as possible. Once on the trail the lady opened up to them and shared her experiences with horses grown up. They both liked her and said she was respectful. Her calm demeanor with the horses made the ride enjoyable. Would take my daughter back anytime she wants to ride again. read more

We had a great time with Miss Su and her crew of KC, Storm, and Shianne. She did a great job giving you instructions when needed. The trail had different terrains making it interesting and fun. You can tell she takes good care of her horses. I'm not sure why the other reviews say she's rude because she was very welcoming, answered all our questions, and even made us laugh with her antidotes. Giving it two stars because it definitely was an experience. I went with my girl friend. It's ran out of this ladies house. There's three horses. Two of them don't get along. Mine was super sweet but apparently had tried to buck off our guide recently so I voiced that I felt unsafe. And that we didn't have helmets. You just sign this sheet, no waiver to read. We were taking pictures of each other of the horses and our guide got pissed we were on our phones. Yes we still decided to stick it out and try it, it was $40 each. My friends horse was super slow, she said her horse Kota didn't have two of her shoes on. So the guide and I would be going off ahead then have to wait for Kota. The whole time I couldn't talk or experience the ride with my friend, instead I heard stories about our guides life. LASTLY, our guide, the owner, KEPT saying that she was going to beat her horses for not listening to her. Then would keep correcting herself saying she's going to "shake my fist" at them... when she caught one eating an apple she said she will shoot her horse if she gets parvo... very disturbing. My horse had a bald spot from the bride being on so often I guess. And by the end of our "adventure" her horses legs were shaking and its ankles were almost rolling because it kept slipping. It was very sad to see all of this, I know I won't be back. At the end of our session our hands were filthy and she had no running water to wash them in.. again, disturbing. read more

It was my 21st birthday and my sister came to visit and I booked a trial ride with this small business seeming the website looked nice horse looked good and ignored the couple of low ratings it had. Mind you my sister and I love horse we owned some before back in the day, my sister barrel raced, jumping. I use to go riding all the time as just a activity. Horse love to be patted and loved on and we know that! When we got there first off I didn't know where to park so I just stopped in the yard till the lady came over to tell me where to park, well when she got closer I rolled my window down and popped my head out and asked where do you want me to park nicely, she then lifted her pointer finger up basically telling me to wait to she got to my window with a death glare, no word! so going on we get out she brings two horse out and ties them to the post. First thing we do is try and touch them and you couldn't, they did not want to be touched they kept jerking away, they looked very uncomfortable because their noses are rubbed raw from living in their harness all the time, they had green yellow infection goo around their eyes, they looked scared! Their saddles looked kinda dry rotten, my sister and I decided last minute we did not feel comfortable riding these horses not even for our sake but it would have been no fun to us to put those poor horse in more pain by pulling on their raw faces or getting spooked off because of how skidish they acted. We were right next to a busy freeway that we would of had to cross with those horse to ride in a tree line....., over all experience was very sad. The lady seemed very rough, inconsiderate, rude, and hard to work with and talk to because all she does is talk about was her self. Oh and when the lady left to get the third horse we tried to adjust the horse's harness to try and take pressure off and he tried to get us off him by turning his rear to us which means he would have tried to kick us if we didn't back off immediately, that is not a friendly horse to ride, and it's not their fault it's they way they are treated and kept right. I feel very conflicted about my experience here. I took my boyfriend here for his birthday. We both grew up riding but haven't ridden for years and thought it would be fun to do together. Ultimately it was a fun ride, but there were some red flags that were pretty concerning. None of the horses wanted to be touched or petted, and they all seemed agitated which seemed very strange to me. I've been around dozens of horses in my life, and while some don't like affection as much as others, the only horses I know who have had such adverse reactions to being touched are ones who have been abused in the past. There were many things she said along the ride that made me more and more uncomfortable with how these horses have been/possibly are being treated. The one I was on especially hated being touched, and Su was annoyed with her for some reason I wasn't aware of, so she said when we got back she was going to hug her and squeeze her and that would just drive the poor horse crazy. The one I rode was named Kacy but when Su introduced me to her, she said "I just call this one BITCH." The horses were fine when actually being ridden. The forest we rode through was beautiful, and Su knew every path and trail in there and was clearly a very experienced rider. She gave good tips as we were going. She talked about herself the entire time, and clearly had had a very rough life, which made my heart ache for her, but my heart aches for those horses even more. read more

The woman who runs this is extremely rude! When I arrived, she complained to me for 30 minutes about life and the horses before my kids were able to get on the horses to ride. While she was bringing the horses over for my kids to climb on, she yelled at her horses while yanking their reins several times and threatened them saying "you know what I'm going to do to you if you dont ACT RIGHT". This happened a few times, my kids and I were really sad for those animals of hers. I have a septum piercing and she gave me a disgusted look and asked me how I even wear this ring in my nose because she COULD NEVER. She didn't tell my 9 year old how to maneuver the horse or get it to move from left to right, she just puts people on these horses and hopes for the best I guess. I would NOT recommend this place, go find somewhere else that actually treats their horses right and isn't disrespectful to paying customers. We were looking for a place that provides gentle horse rides for a girls 3rd birthday. I only gave this company a 2 because it is the only horse riding company in the area and the birthday girl did enjoy her ride. 1). For starters the lady giving the ride was rude on the phone when making the appointment, and we were not going to use the service based in the initial phone call alone. We called around though, and could not find any other horse riding companies in the area that give rides by the hour so we went ahead and kept appointment. 2). The 3 yr olds young mother was provided with her own horse and the staff/owner...?? lady rode another horse with the 3 year old. The lady that gave the ride was very gruff and rude throughout the entire process she was rude to the 3 year olds grandmother (me) because of my safety concerns...and during the ride she was talking to 3 year olds mother talking of dysfunctional life stories and swearing throughout the ride. The birthday girl enjoyed the ride anyway and did not seem affected by the rudeness but I would NEVER go back to this place!!!!!! read more

Not for children, sure...but I had a great time just Su and I. The horses were ready when I arrived and the ride was the perfect outing I needed with added entertainment I didn't expect. Su told stories of her past and asked about my own as well. Behind the gruff is a kind woman who has lived quite the life. We were just two petite, firecracker red-heads from different times enjoying a horseback ride through the woods. Reviews mentioning animal abuse are a far reach considering verbal lashings towards a stubborn old horse are not illegal. (Dear God...don't let these weirdos hear me when my dog gets in the garbage and makes a mess in the house) Her horses are her children and you can see that they respect her and love her and were well-behaved on the trail. We took our 9 year old granddaughters here today for a one hour ride- their first. My husband and I rode too. All of us had fun and the horses were good ones, appeared to be well taken care of, no signs of mistreatment. The owner is just one of those people, like some parents, who talks tough a little, then smiles and nuzzles the horse. The ride took us through a beautiful wooded area. Made a same-day reservation to ride, calling at 9:00 and on a horse at 1:00. It was just Sue and I on this ride. The horses were ready when I arrived and we had a fine ride through the woods. The entire ride was over an hour and was charged for only an hour. Sue may not have a whole lot of tact but she is safety conscious. That's important around horses. It was just my sister and Susan that went on the trail and she chatted and joked with us the whole time. It was a lot of fun and worth the cost. I've ridden with Sue a number of times and found her to be knowledgeable and considerate . She cares about her horses and the riders she puts on them . Sue is a little brusque but not mean or rude , that may be a matter of interpretation though , she wants the ride to go well for both the horses and the rider nothing wrong with that and she places safety first . She will engage you in conversation along the trail and tell relevant anecdotes . All in all a good place to go for a trail ride and still be "in the City" . read more
