    Daughter and niece horseback riding.

Took my daughter and niece to ride with her. They both have been on pony rides at the fair. So this was the first time they both went on a full hour journey horseback riding. The lady was nice and explained everything well about what they was going to do. She's just old school country raised lady who lives near the city now. My daughter and niece loved the experience and said they'd do it again as soon as possible. Once on the trail the lady opened up to them and shared her experiences with horses grown up. They both liked her and said she was respectful. Her calm demeanor with the horses made the ride enjoyable. Would take my daughter back anytime she wants to ride again.

It was my 21st birthday and my sister came to visit and I booked a trial ride with this small business seeming the website looked nice horse looked good and ignored the couple of low ratings it had. Mind you my sister and I love horse we owned some before back in the day, my sister barrel raced, jumping. I use to go riding all the time as just a activity. Horse love to be patted and loved on and we know that! When we got there first off I didn't know where to park so I just stopped in the yard till the lady came over to tell me where to park, well when she got closer I rolled my window down and popped my head out and asked where do you want me to park nicely, she then lifted her pointer finger up basically telling me to wait to she got to my window with a death glare, no word! so going on we get out she brings two horse out and ties them to the post. First thing we do is try and touch them and you couldn't, they did not want to be touched they kept jerking away, they looked very uncomfortable because their noses are rubbed raw from living in their harness all the time, they had green yellow infection goo around their eyes, they looked scared! Their saddles looked kinda dry rotten, my sister and I decided last minute we did not feel comfortable riding these horses not even for our sake but it would have been no fun to us to put those poor horse in more pain by pulling on their raw faces or getting spooked off because of how skidish they acted. We were right next to a busy freeway that we would of had to cross with those horse to ride in a tree line....., over all experience was very sad. The lady seemed very rough, inconsiderate, rude, and hard to work with and talk to because all she does is talk about was her self. Oh and when the lady left to get the third horse we tried to adjust the horse's harness to try and take pressure off and he tried to get us off him by turning his rear to us which means he would have tried to kick us if we didn't back off immediately, that is not a friendly horse to ride, and it's not their fault it's they way they are treated and kept right. Recommendation 0 DO NOT GO!

So when I purchased Hawk I was so excited to back into horses once again. I thought I had done enough by taking lessons a couple of years before I bought him to prepare myself for having a horse of my own. Although Hawk unfortunately was not as trained as I was told, I still believed he was the horse for me. The timing was really Good for me too. My dad just met Hawk just two days before my dad passed away. Having Hawk in my life at this time was very special and healing. Before I met Ann, Hawk and I while getting to know each other had a bad accident. While out riding early spring some sprinklers came on near us and spooked Hawk which resulted in both of us falling over and my ankle getting was crushed underneath him. After all of this Hawk and I really needed help. I needed to regain my confidence again and Hawk was still pretty green and needed some help as well. Before Ann I had been told by a couple of trainers here in Davis that Hawk may be to much horse for me, and to think of getting a horse more calm, older and experienced. I was devastated. I found Ann searching online in a desperate attempt to find another answer. I found Ann and she really is incredible! She was patient, listened to me and made me feel that with focus, dedication and time Hawk and I were not a wrong match. Ann is so professional. She is honest. Her approach to horse training is kind and assertive. She helped me regain my confidence. Everyday is still work and Hawk and I are doing well, but I feel confident knowing she is always there to help me when I need it. Sense I have been at the barn we're she teaches I have enjoyed watching her train other green horses. She is awesome to watch. Ann has also been giving my daughter riding lessons in hopes one day being able to ride Hawk as well. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for an honest person who really knows horses and has a lot of experience. Ann is really awesome and I am so grateful to have found her. Thank you Ann :)

I'm not too familiar with the whole horse stable/training/riding/etc thing, but this place seems pretty reasonable. It's $70 per client for a one hour Equine Therapy session. They (the client) learns how to take care of a horse, from walking and running it, to cleaning their hooves, to brushing it, to making the horse run laps and eventually riding the horse. It is a pretty cool process and I have learned a lot about horses myself just by showing up. The people that work here are very knowledgeable and helpful. The stables also seem very neat and clean and the horses seem happy enough. Pretty cool place to go if you're into wanting to learn to horseback ride or learn more about horses in general! Cheers!

The issue began to arise when I started needing slightly more complicated things such as bits and blankets. First, I needed a very basic slow twist snaffle, which they did not have. The store in jam packed with all sorts of things, but their selection is old. Then I decided to buy a blanket through them, but they will not allow you to return a blanket no exceptions, no matter what. They also will not allow you to return bits. If any item has ever touched the horse, you cannot return it and that is enough to take my business away from them. As most of you know, when you have horses, sizes are always subjective and you might get a medium sized boot on your horse and find that you need a large. You might get the right sized blanket, but find its too small through the shoulder. All sorts of things can happen with sizing and if you can't return it, well than its not worth me chancing the couple hundred dollars I might spend. I'll take my business to Tack Room, Too or Stroh's.

However, the best part for me is that I was able to trailer my horses there and try on saddles. The one I was originally looking for did not fit, but the staff found me 2 others to try (I needed a gaited saddle which can be hard to find) and one of those was a beautiful fit for my horse, and fit me as well. You can also try on blankets I believe (not 100% positive). They do consignment there, so you can find great prices on used items if you don't have the money to buy it new. You can also bring in your items for them to sell. They have a lot of tack in there, so might take awhile :) They also have new items. I love this place peronally. It is a little cramped, but they are wonderful to work with.
