I would 100% recommend Styles on B. I am extremely picky with my hair and I'm one of those people that doesn't even let my hairdresser blowout my hair after I get a cut. I had the pleasure of having Laureen do my hair the day of my wedding. She is truly amazing. All the girls that came to my house to have their hair done were extremely happy (including me) and our hair stayed even with the rainy day we experienced. Laureen can do anything and everything that you want. She has a true talent and has the ability to make your inspiration come to life. On top of all this, she is a ray of sunshine that makes you feel comfortable and allows you to enjoy the day before you get married. Her energy sets the tone off right for an amazing day. I am honestly trying to think of another opportunity for her to do my hair! The manager Aubrey is a pleasure to work with as well. Overall, the company is very professional, and the people have a genuine friendly disposition. THANK YOU THANK YOU !

***Drum roll please*** And now I present to you, my 100th review! (cheer from my 62 Yelp friends) I have been torn about writing my review for over two years now because I don't want egg white yuppie b*tches filling up the calendar so I can't get my hurr did. Stingy? Yes, but rightfully so. Stacy and her "crew" know their stuff and I walk out every time feeling like a Victoria's Secret model that has wandered from her white sandy beach in Brazil. On to the review! Enter through a rad graffiti door, yes I said rad and here you will have the opportunity to drink scotch, learn Russian and listen to speakeasy music. I am the customer with hair from hell too: coming in with knots galore, coloring jobs done by myself, and broken, damaged, over-processed hair. But every time, Stacy knows what to do and how to fix my mess. I'm just sorry she and everyone else has to hear my sagas that are more dramatic than the Twilight series. Also, I secretly wish I could hang out with every person that does business here because thats just how cool her custies are- cooler than a polar bear's toe nails. But let me tell you, you walk out feelin' hotter than the oven door! PS, I'm the Duchess of this place so watch out.

This is a picture of how Sally fixed it. Clearly there is still an issue.

Years ago I heard about this place from a friend. I went once was great, went back a few times until 2 years ago when I stopped due to a less then stellar experience. At that time Sally dyed my hair and had the receptionist wash it. She washed me and then I sat back down waiting, the dye was not all out and I had to reiterate this as Sally started blow drying my hair. Not a big deal but they were super busy and I felt really rushed, it wasn't professional or relaxing experience. Two year later I went back last week. I booked 2 months in advance to finally see Stacy who I could previously could never get an appointment with. Despite the color and cut not necessarily looking like the photos I brought I was happy with her service. When she was done she saw a dark spot by my temple and fixed it. In the light there which in my opinion is poor for a salon it looked fixed. I got home and saw that spot wasn't totally fixed but I was going to let it go. Then the following day I saw another spot where the low lights I had put in bled and made a dark stripe on the adjacent very light hair. It does happen, no one is perfect and I get that. I emailed the salon and they were quick to respond and say come back in, no problem. I went back last night to have it fixed by Sally. She was nice to begin with and went to fix it, put some bleach on those spots, redid part of the color via highlights there. After she washed the first section out she saw it was still not rectified and did it again. After the second time she said I was done. I looked and saw still a little of the dark spot by my temple. I was told "let it grow out you have to expect that to happen with low lights." That is 100% not true. I have had this done many other places without issue and just tried this place because I was short on cash for a better salon. However, you get what you pay for. I am OK with my hair right now but I can't put the right side up as the brown spot is still visible. To let it grow out and expect that was not an appropriate response. From day one I felt everyone there was very cliquish and not friendly but I thought it was me. After this last time I will never be going back as their customer service sucks. I realize that this operation is run out of a studio apartment in a residential building.. perhaps illegal? I don't know. I had no problem sitting in a chair in front of what is supposed to be a kitchen sink on a little old wobbly stool. However, I did take issue with the cleanliness. Everything is very old and dusty. I would not say I feel a level of good hygiene is maintained. Perhaps this was an isolated incident but this was my 3 or 4th time there and I remember why I stopped going 2 years ago in the first place. If I pay decent money for my hair I do expected professionalism, cleanliness and friendliness. If you do not care about those things you'll fit right now. I did see all the photos on here and that is why made me think for so long I must be wrong. I did post two pictures firstly the dark stripe I found by Stacy that Sally fixed and then a picture of how Sally fixed my hair. Perhaps its a place just good for wedding do's as any time I went in there it was all basic bitches babbling about their weddings, fiances, etc. Take your money and go someplace where they care about the clients.

Appointments became rushed, started late, and lacked even basic professionalism. You're barely greeted when you walk in, and the overall tone makes it feel like you're inconveniencing them just by being there. I told them multiple times I had a head injury from a concussion and the lack of care was very concerning how abrasively they washed and handled my head. My most recent appointment was a complete failure. I asked for a warm, golden brown and came prepared with multiple reference photos. While the color was processing, I clearly flagged that it was pulling purple. That concern was dismissed, and the product was left on longer. The result was the darkest my hair has ever been, almost black with a cool, purple hue. The exact opposite of what I requested. The color job is all mismatched, the lower part of my hair significantly darker, the roots are sloppy and uneven. When I pointed this out, the response was defensive and dismissive. At one point, I was sarcastically asked if I wanted to "bleach it," which is an inappropriate and careless suggestion for already fine hair. It was mind blowing to have this handled so poorly and then be rushed through a cut that does not look anywhere close to the quality of the past cuts. I followed up requesting a refund, given that this will take months to correct and fade, and received no response for over 48 hours. It's not even about the money - it's about the severe lack of respect. What's most surprising is that this level of defensiveness and lack of accountability was unacceptable, especially after such a grave mistake. Instead of thoughtful adjustment and ownership, the response was dismissive in the moment and silent afterward. Mistakes happen. How they're handled is what defines a business. This was not handled well. NYC has no shortage of salons that can deliver both technical skill and professionalism. This is not one of them. Updating this with a pic and additional NYC HAIR SALON SEO terms so future customers are warned since the salon has decided to block me after no satisfactory resolution. The pic at the top right was me pre-hair f*** up. Only come to this salon if you'd like to come home and cry.

This was their "best advice for me" and that I should come back and get both together. I only needed a haircut and this was the only chance I got (I am a SAHM with 2 kids and minimal backup except this day) so I said I would consider it but I need a cut now. It was 6 months since my last. That must have just not been the right thing to say bc I was judged, insulted during the entire session and I got the worst haircut of my life. I can't even get it fixed because it is so much shorter than I wanted. There are huge "texture" discrepancies all over my hair, the most obvious being in the back near my neck. There's also a strand of hair far longer than the entire length of my bob cut. I don't even understand how this happened. I'm so traumatized. I would never recommend this place and will never ever come back. I really had 1 chance to get a cut as a treat to myself, since I really don't have extra time to spare. And now I have to live with this until it grows out, definitely more than 6 more months. If I could give -1000 stars, I would. Please do yourself a favor and find a salon that can do a nice cut for long AND SHORT hair. WITHOUT A PERM TO MAKE IT ALL STRAIGHT FIRST. The skill level here is just so sub par. I could have done it myself.

I haven't cut my hair in 6 months and I have really long straight natural hair so you can say it is a blank canvas. This is probably one of the worst haircut I have gotten in years compared to other places that are in different price ranges. Leaving the salon it looked good styled but when I went home to wash it and had more time to look without it curled I saw really choppy layers and the length is much shorter than i wanted. For a cut I paid $107-110 not including tips and expected a decent cut for that amount. Truly disappointing as holidays are coming up and I have been wearing a hat to cover up, cannot wait for this to grow out but will take months. Ara was really sweet and nice but I don't think the skills were there.
