After many years with the same hairstylist, due to her schedule changes, I recently made the…read moredecision to search for a new one. Driving to Franklin for my appointments was making for some mighty long days, and Saturdays are coveted and sometimes unpredictable. So I knew I wanted to find someone in the Boro if nothing else. I learned about Studio L through a friend of mine...but we weren't friends yet. In fact, it was the first time I had ever met her and instead of saying the usual "Hi." or "Nice to meet you..." I just excitedly exclaimed, "Oh. My. GOSH! I love your hair!", then asked, "Where do you go?" Who knew almost a year later I'd need a new stylist? Bam. When I called Leanne (owner of Studio L), we discussed all the details about my "move", my hair, and set up an appointment for the following month. I learned that while it's not posted, she does have rather flexible hours. So when I said I'd prefer weeknight evening appointments over Saturdays, she said she is happy to work with me on scheduling. The studio is in a beautiful space just off of the Sqaure. There are two street parking spots directly in front of the salon with more street parking nearby. I maintain my hair color through root touch-ups about every 4-5 weeks. Since Salon L is a Paul Mitchell salon, and previous color applications were from Davines, I wasn't sure how it'd go with color matching. I'm happy to report it appears to be flawless thus far. Leanne finished my first appointment by styling my hair with a curling wand manufactured by Paul Mitchell. It gave my strands a nice beach wave. She even took the time to give me some instruction on how to use any wand to create the look, then allowed me to try it myself with her there to instruct/assist as needed. It was very helpful and much appreciated. (I'm a tomboy at heart, so I'm a little late to the hair and makeup party in a woman's life.) I feel as though the service and the pricing I received today were fair, and I look forward to going back for my next appointment.

Cut was good, but to root touch up was definitely not. I got home and looked closer in the mirror and noticed my forehead, ears, eyebrows, and scalp all had color stains! I spent the next 30min trying to remove stains from my skin! I rubbed a Qtip on my scalp and removed excess color. I had a feeling it would be bad because when rinsing my head, she barely touched my scalp. This cost me $160 PLUS tip!! Aside from the stained skin and excess color left on scalp, I still have gray hairs showing. Obviously this salon is an expensive lesson learned for me. A one and done. Next!

I did…read morenot share my real thoughts at my last hair appointment as it took everything in me not to cry at the hack job of a cut. I had a few decent cuts here but started to get invasive and prying comments and questions each time I went in. My hair was never quite even and it was blamed on my styling technique. Thats not true because I've styled my curly cuts for years with another stylist from another salon and it was never uneven. I was unable to find a different stylist in the interim so I stuck with her for a few cuts despite my instinct to not go back. My final visit with Tammura was more uncomfortable than usual. Of course, stylists ask you about your life. However, upon hearing news of my recent engagement, I received comments such as "Well, I hope you have plenty of savings." I received other inappropriate and judgmental comments previously and afterwards but you get the idea. I might be able to look past it for a stellar haircut but Tammura was so preoccupied with judging my personal life that she rushed through my cut and butchered my bangs beyond repair. She had previously cut them well and, after asking for the same thing this time around, she cut them to about two inches long. Thats right, my bangs one month before my wedding (which I had made her aware of from the beginning) were cut to look like Lord Farquad. They stuck straight out without the help of a flatiron and hair oil. Overall, I found her increasingly rude and careless and she does not take pride in her work. If you're picky about your cuts, use someone else.

Little did I know God blessed me with an amazing stylist. If anyone else in the world is like me, finding a hairdresser/stylist takes a lot of work. It's truly a committed relationship. Ok that may be a bit excessive, but seriously you really do have to see Riki if you want to jazz up your life with some color in your hair. I made the mistake of seeing someone else for color because I couldn't get an appointment with Riki. BAD BAD BAD idea. I looked like a goldfish! Riki is my saving grace. We salvaged my hair to a mushroom color for a few weeks then I have recently gone silver. I LOVE IT. I get tons of compliments on my hair everywhere I go. I actually hate brushing my hair and I still get lots of love for my hair color. Here are some tips: -Know what you kind of want. This way when you make your appointment they can schedule you in appropriately. Color takes time. Bring your patience. Make sure you eat before coming in. -Take some before and after pics! -Know in advance it does take some time to get an appointment for color. They are pretty easy to get you in just for a cut. -Everyone here want you to look good! -They do more than just hair here! I believe they do manicures and makeup.

My face feels AMAZING thank you Christie Brown!…read more Calla Lily salon is VERY CLEAN, it's pretty but not overly done, the front salon staff is VERY nice, their prices are very reasonable, this was my second time here and found out they also do nails! (Not gel at this time of Covid). They have hairdressers as well and the hair being done looked pretty. I just took their only appointment for the day, and fortunately I got Christie Brown is both a hair dresser and aesthetician- the other aesthetician I saw in Feb 2020 (Jennifer?) was great too! I'll be coming back to Christie Brown. She's super fun and jumped in on my zits with both feet - she really LISTENED to me! I asked her to do a lot of extractions and 15 min light therapy. I said "I am here to work and not relax" and she was happy, she said she liked doing that because it makes a difference and is not just temporary. I wear a lot of headsets and ear pieces for work and it's caused reoccurring zits behind my ears and around the front of them that fill up. One I will have to have a derm take those out but it helped to empty and shrink them but she really went as far as my face would allow and I have a very high pain tolerance. She was concerned she was hurting me to squeeze and I just was glad it was all coming out! Christie is an educator and has a very nice touch. Funny to boot! I have hormonal acne and am 49, I get greasier as I age and after Covid masks, summer weather and not having a facial in 3 months there was plenty to extract. She educated me on something called Sunray blackheads and 3x a week exfoliating to solve most of my problems. The dead skin just sits in my pours so I have a light pumice scrub I can use by Skinceuticals. I sit next to a window at work which is nice but I don't wear sunblock because I am indoors. Turns out all the harmful rays get thru and the left side of my face is worse because I'm driving all the time. She gave me a sample of the SPF50 Image they sell there and I really like it so far! So I have a good plan, I also threw away my magnifying mirror as I'm a picker - so as long as I do those things, I'll be in good shape! I recommend Christie if you can ever get on her schedule, do!
