Customer service that will make you cry, claustrophobia and over-priced unoriginal costume jewelry.
This has to be THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE IN OTTAWA.
Mandy, the owner is the worst nastiest most insecure snob I have seen, ripped into me after I found some earrings sort of appealing --- I walked out I was so disgusted by the snobbery. The place is TINY! It is smaller than my shoe closet and you practically trip over other patrons ... when there is equally good costume jewelry to be found at Rene Levesque's on Sussex street that didn't cheap out on renting a shoe closet so you can actually walk and see the jewelry.
Mandy lived in New York city, like a lot of her patrons, but she thinks that makes her Anne Wintour and that you are a lowly know-nothing. I do understand working in the basement of research office, never to see the light of day, but people with such serious personality issues shouldn't work in sales or the service industry.
I have never seen such a snob, and if you google her, there isn't much compared to the extensive resume of her customers who were in the store that she put down. I have never seen someone ruder and more arrogant and haughty towards customers. MPs, their staff, civil servants, journalists, corporate professionals who can afford her jewelry are humble.
Each time I or a friend who is thinner and looks younger (aka has a better botox doctor) than Mandy goes in.... she always finds a way to put down what that person is doing and how she is better. I have yet to see a more arrogant female prick! Seriously ... how does she work with people, and not in accounting in the basement?!
If I go and pay more than $10 to a street seller for jewelry, I except either service or silence (if you can't sell then just zip your lip and don't say anything so you don't mess up). I have yet to see a salesperson consistently denigrate people and ship Moet during work hours anywhere in the world. It's worse than Soviet customer service.
The owner, instead of selling you an OK not so terrible piece of jewelry that you might as well get while you are there despite the crazy high mark up (same thing, SOOO much cheaper in NYC), .. she walks up to you, to put you down to show you know nothing anything and she is superior. For all her arrogance, the jewelry at STUNNING! frankly is quite ugly. It looks like side walk sale from street vendors in Paris who sell left over-jewelry tourists weren't interested in. If you go for example to Etsy.com to find the work of the designers & craftswomen like Charlotte Hosten, you find that her items online are far more interesting.
In fact, if you want jewelry, just go to Etsy.com for something unique, & no mean prick putting you down, taking her weight and insecurity issues out on you. Shopping online - same brands + no bad customer service= win! Plus it is cheaper online. If you like unique jewelry, Etsy.com has better and more selection from the same designers and hundreds more.
Her jewelry looks like cheap costume jewelry sold in the side walks of Paris and Rome that young people buy because it is cheap and kind of cool. Except she picks the old lady pieces that are cheap on the street, expensive at her studio. But with her price tags, just go to Swarovski or Holt and Renfrew and have a good time, enjoy!
The jewelry is in nice display cases that look attractive from the outside, but at a closer glance is cheap and boring. I got better service, and very unique things minus all the attitude at the ByWard Market building, there is a shop not too far from Moulin De Provence with unique local and international art- jewelry, and much cheaper too! I don't mind paying for quality or originality, but STUNNING has boring over-priced old lady jewelry. Poised, Envied, Rene Levesque all have space, room, better selection. For quality, I'd recommend Holt and Renfrew. Originality, then the place in the old market building or go on a trip to Montreal. There are interesting shops on Dalhousie as well. There is no reason to visit that place that is smaller than most women's shoe closets, with old lady jewelry selected from young designers. Or go online at Etsy.com.
If you are Lauren Harper, she will suck up to you. If you are Lauren Harper on a weekend, not dressed up and she doesn't recognize you... or if you are anyone else she hasn't seen on television with 8 hours, she will berate you. She was putting down the work of people who I knew were on CNN, that her little shop was superior. Lady, they are saving lives while you are selling costume jewelry from the internet offline and pocketing the difference.
Each time I come with the intention to buy .... I am so repulsed by the incompetent snobby customer.... "service?" do you call it, that I leave empty-handed. I have been in the store several times and grossed out each time I am there in that shoe closet. read more
