Second time here ! This place is so cozy, warm, and welcoming. Very mom & pop vibes ! The food is so well made and the meats are well marinated ! Flavor is amazing all around. Everyone here is so kind and helpful as well :)

Stopped in for a pick meal ! It's been awhile since we've made it back and glad we did- Good well balanced Korean food on a cold evening. The spicy pork is yummy and selection of sides good. Lots of seating for our early dinner. Friendly helpful staff. Small menu but enough choices. Good place for a quick meal

Very impressed! I just ordered to go for my first time trying Stun Cube and it was perfect. The person who took my order was so sweet, and brought my order to the door when I came back to pick it up. I have had some different kimbaps at other Korean spots and this one is the best, in overall flavor and freshness of ingredients used, in my opinion. I also paired my kimbap with the kimchi mandu and it was a perfect combo. I'm excited to go back and try the rest of the menu!

Food was AMAZING! But the best part was the exceptional service! Oh my goodness! The owners are the kindest and most down to earth people Ive ever met! The place was clean and tidy. We are from Ogden and we love making the drive just to eat here. We always crave the amazing food and service.

This tastes like mom's kitchen if mom had a high flamed gas stove. The dishes that benefited from that smoky hot wok flavor had it. I was so excited to eat I forgot to take pics of all the dishes at the table. Green beans with garlic was so tasty, I finished the leftovers the same night, I remembered to take a photo in the takeout container. The cauliflower (I don't know the actual name but it's stir fried, spicy and comes with peppers) had wok hei and I couldn't stop eating it. Beef rolls is the sophisticated auntie of the scallion pancake. Think of it like an asian burrito with thin sliced beef, fresh scallion and cilantro, and a touch of hoisin all hugged together with a crispy tasty scallion pancake. The shredded potato tastes like the best potato salad that isn't your picnic potato salad. The shredded potatoes were quickly blanched then stir fried preserving the crunch and crispness similar to al dente pasta. Seasoning was on point. The homiest flavor came from the stewed short rib. The rib pieces were braised in a soy and star anise sauce like what you find in Taiwanese beef noodle soup. The peels potatoes were cut rustically and just cooked through and not mushy. Authentic flavors and freshness like this is so so hard to come by. I can taste the quality of the ingredients used. One tip I have for selecting authentic food is by looking at the customers. If the customers are all Asian eating at an Asian restaurant, you know the food is going to be good. Service was 10/10, waitress was super polite and stopped by to chat with us about the food and SLC. I am from out of town but I grew up eating at NYC Asian restaurants and this is as good as if not better. If you happen to stop by the largest Costco in the world, make a pit stop here to refuel after all those steps.

The shredded pork with bean curd is great if you enjoy a little spice, and goes perfectly with any type of rice. The fried rice dishes are fantastic, and less greasy than many places.

When the meal arrived, I was hit with a wall of aromatics. The broth was perfect after I added the provided chili and hoisin. Disappointing Experience - Food Quality & Service…read more I've been to Mi La Cai Noodle House before, but unfortunately, my most recent experience was very disappointing. I ordered the wonton soup, and the pork wontons did not taste right to me. I let the gentleman who was helping us know about the issue, and he told me, "Let me see with my manager what I can do for you." To be clear, I wasn't asking them to take the soup off my bill or give me anything for free. I simply wanted to see if they could provide a little more meat so I could finish my bowl. I thought that was a reasonable request, especially since I had already explained that the pork wontons didn't taste right. Unfortunately, the gentleman never came back to our table, and the manager never stopped by or spoke with us at all. We ended up paying the full bill, and no one even apologized or offered any kind of resolution. When the host later asked how everything was, I explained that the wonton soup wasn't as good as I expected. She simply said, "Oh, sorry." While I understand that mistakes happen, it felt like a very dismissive response, especially after we had already brought the issue to their attention. I honestly feel like the food quality at this restaurant has gone downhill. What disappointed me even more was the lack of customer service and follow-through. If a customer takes the time to politely bring up an issue, I would expect someone from management to at least come to the table and address it. Unfortunately, after this experience, I won't be coming back. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously because I used to have a much better impression of the food and service.

Conveniently, we are in town for a couple days and our hotel is just right down the road. It was only right to mark this joint off my SLC food list. We came in around 5 and it was empty. My MIL and I picked a booth by the windows. I enjoy seeing the buzz of this city. It's was chaotic outside but so chill inside. It was nice to have the joint to ourselves. Jay served us tonight. He dropped off a couple menus and got some waters started for us. It was my MIL's first time trying Vietnamese cuisine. It took her a minute to breeze over the menu. As much as I wanted everything, I started off with a cup of the hot and sour soup. For dinner I got the black bean shrimp with veggies. My MIL decided on the bun thit nuong with cha gio. Last minute my MIL decided on some hot and sour soup too. They were dropped off first and it was perfect for hot soup on this cold winter day. The broth was thick and flavorful. It had hearty pieces of tofu, water chestnuts and bamboo shoots. The soup had a good heat to it. The heat didn't hit you right away, it gradually got spicier the more you ate it. My mouth was burning towards the end of my bowl. It was good but it could have been a bit more sour. My plate of black bean shrimp and veggies came out hot! The veggies looked fresh and colorful. The shrimp were plump. And the sauce smelled flavorful and salty from the fermented black bean. You can tell my dish just came out fresh from the wok. The veggies and shrimp were so hot! The shrimp were perfectly cooked. The zucchini, green peppers and bamboo shoots were my favorite. All the veggies were covered in sauce, probably the best way to eat your veggies. I ate the whole plate! I'm not the biggest fan of water chestnuts and I even polished those off. My dish was fantastic. Jay did a great job serving us tonight. He was patient and attentive. He checked up on us several times even though he was so busy with to go orders. The location of this joint was so convenient. Even though it was freezing out, it was cool to walk to dinner. But it's also got to know they have parking available for their guests. Jay did a great job taking care of us tonight. And the food was spot on. I still have quite a few places I need to hit up when I'm in SLC but if we stay in the area again, I will have to hit up Red Lotus again. It was hands down a great meal and experience.

There's a small bar area too. For drinks, we had a soda and I ordered sweet tea. Had I known the tea was bottled I would've ordered something else. It has lemon in it and it's not my fancy. For starters, we had the fresh spring rolls and egg rolls. The spring rolls are pretty straight forward with fresh mint also. The egg rolls were a little different from what we'd consider traditional but they were good. I also had the sweet n sour soup which was good. The Peking wings were crispy and piping hot on the inside. Would absolutely order again. The shrimp pad thai was sweet and delicious.

For 15 dollars and expectation of tip, I got a watery salad with inedible chicken (literally chewy with a strange consistency ), flat soda, lack of friendly service, and service workers who seriously skimped on the basics of the bowl and gave me attitude when I asked for fresh jalapeño on my bowl. I feel nauseous after eating here. Sad. I've loved Zao for years but will not be back to the 4th South location. It was disgusting. Other patrons also said similar when I had to discard the rest of my large drink because it was straight syrup with no carbonation. I question food safety and if it was even chicken that I ate. Change in management or ownership? It seemed understaffed in the kitchen and the workers looked sullen and were unfriendly. We'll see if I get food poisoning. Oh, and there was hair in the salad too.
