Probably wasn't one of my most favorite meals. It wasn't good but it wasn't bad. The bento box was packed and filled with tons of food for $16 the pork braised and ribs was decent. The cashier was super helpful and friendly and made all the recommendations. Vibe was super clean and trendy.

Good selection on the menu. The chef's special ramen was flavorful and semi spicy. The poached egg was a perfect touch. The chicken skewer was delicious! Teriyaki sauce drizzled across the top of the tempura chicken was delightful.

Do not order. Curry sucks too. All chicken fat

Not good. Steak was the only good thing is this bento. Chicken they just think we're dumb and gave me a bunch of fat.

We went to Chinatown strip mall to finally check out the bakery my 2 fellow foodies have raved about buty boys were hungry for food while we were there so we happened upon this place. ESPECIALLY since the sign did mention a 2 meat bento type meal for around $16! We were pleasantly impressed with the presentation and the meal itself which we shared as a family of 4 since we were also trying out other food from the other eateries in this complex. You cannot choose the sides, you only choose the meats. It was very worth the price considering how many items you get. Definitely recommend.

Super fast! Very delicious! The rice was exceptional. I just want to say that first off. I ended up having leftovers and I normally don't eat my leftover rice. It was still delicious even after I microwaved it. I was amazed. I got the two item "box lunch" Bento Box. I ordered the pork belly and tonkatsu. I was super excited, and I was not disappointed. The pork belly was well seasoned and flavorful, meaty and deliciously fatty just the way I like it the tonkatsu was thin breaded, and tasted amazing with the Japanese curry. I generally do not order curry, but I do love Japanese curry. I have never made it myself so I don't know why it is different but it is. The mains were served on top of white rice. I got a small side of edamame, an eggroll, a tempura shrimp, and two pieces of Gyoza with dipping sauce. The side items that come with it change and you do not get to pick the sides. when I went the sides I got were a yummy macaroni salad, a really delicious tofu salad that had small pieces of diced up crisp apple, and a side of what I think was shredded, pickled radish. Served in the middle was also a small salad made with tomato and broccoli. Very nice presentation. Luckily it's easy to take home since I had leftovers. My husband got the braised beef ribs. It was a good size portion. They tasted great. They were kind of sweet tasting which neither of us expected. All the appetizers and sides that were in my meal were the same that came with his he got a single item Bento box "box lunch". On several different occasions, I have purchased the sushi it comes premade, so it is easy to grab and go. I always get it for my daughter and not for myself. She has told me she enjoys it very much and has never turned it down. I only tried the shaved pickled ginger from her sushi selection and it was good. I am pretty picky about the taste of the pickled ginger. This was the first time we stayed to eat. There are only a few tables available, and you go to the counter to order. They brought our food to our table. Usually there is a tall gentleman helping at the counter. He is nice and friendly this day there was a young woman. She was very helpful and sweet to me as I may have been a bit much with my excitement. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I decided to pop into Mr. rice for the first time today while picking up a couple of items in Chinatown. I've been meaning to try it for a while. Overall, I'd say the food here is just average. I got the two item bento box. There wasn't anything that was a big standout aside from the macaroni which had unique flavors. My rice felt like it had been sitting for a while and a bit hard. I got the pork belly and VIP braised beef and both of the meats were slightly over cooked and more tough than it was tender. You order from a kiosk and pick up your food at the counter. The restaurant overall is a small and casual space. If you're looking for a quick and easy option with a decent portion of food for the price, this isn't a horrible choice. Just don't expect the food to knock your socks off.

Just regretting to buy a these two dishes, fried udon and chef special ramen. For me, hot pot much cheaper and variety options.

Just regretting to eat here, hot pot better and cheaper, I was asking able to replace the food but they said no. Eat in-n-out better

So was our 1st time going to Chinatown - which is pretty much just a strip mall. So, we wanted to try a couple different spots since this isn't close to where we live. Mr. Rice was one of them and it did not disappoint. I don't know if they always had that bento box special they advertised just outside their location but it was definitely enough for 2 people to enjoy. You only pick the 2 types of meat. The rest you cannot choose-- they had a standard for sides that could not be substituted. Just a few tables in here so we took ours to go since we were going to another location to try also. But yes, surprised about this spot and recommend!

    Interior dinning space.

My family and I enjoyed this little fast service style restaurant inside China/ Asian mart in Murray. Seating area is very limited, but if you Togo your food they serve it in a little cute blue bag with your items nicely packed. Had the Earthy Hearty Curry. Consumer beware. The photos of this dish includes a pork Tonkatsu but in reality this is an additional add on for $5. I didn't know this the first time and assume it was included because the photo showed it and all I got was curry with veggies and rice. Overall I liked the flavors because I like a little spicy curry but some maybe more sensitive to it. Give it a try.

Mr.Rice is finally open! They took over the Kpop dance studio space in the Chinatown Supermarket plaza. The same owner as Mr.Shabu owns Mr. Rice. I love Mr.Shabu and am so glad that Mr.Rice did not disappoint! It is going to be one of my new favorite restaurants in SLC. The space is very clean and aesthetically pleasing. Their menu is small but has a good amount of variety from rice bowls, lunch boxes, to sushi. Their packaging is super neat, they'll package your order in their branded bag and utensils. Food: I only tried their braised beef ribs today and I highly recommend it! There are not many places in SLC that have Galbijjim and I love Galbijjim so I was stoked that they have it! The meat was tender and falls off the bone. The price was reasonable for the amount of food they gave. Short ribs are usually on the pricier side due to the cut of the meat. It was just as pictured, all the same ingredients/vegetables as shown. Note: the short ribs order does not come with rice, and you can add toppings for additional cost. The restaurant just opened recently, so it is understood that mistakes can be made. I ordered rice sticks as a topping for my short ribs. But because it is a take-out-only restaurant, I was not able to check the order until I got home and realized the rice sticks were not added. But I called and chatted with the restaurant owner, he was very nice and apologized for the mistake.

Was in the area and seen this place was contemplating and walked away. Nothing else enticed me enough to go there so came back and looked at the menu closer. For October was a different weekly special for the day so today Monday was teri chicken for $5 regular is $10 or 12. I also added a tonkatsu topper just cause for $5 more. Overall presentation is great and with it being sealed better for office etc as not to worry about spilling etc. Sides were ok little different, has taste and flavor. Can't mess up teriyaki chicken imo though. Tonkatsu on the other hand was meh for me. Very thin piece little chewy but ok to bite off pieces. I'd pass on that. If I'm wanting something like a bento to grab and go then I'd cone again next time I'm in town

Mr Rice a new restaurant in Chinatown Supermarket plaza is delicious. Besides great and friendly service, the restaurant is clean with a fresh modern look .... I had the BENTO BOX with 2 meats (braised ribs/grilled unagi) the braised beef ribs was tender well seasoned delicious... I have to mention the side salad, whatever the dressing was. it was perfect ! It's not the typical carrot ginger dressing you get from most restaurants. The fried side selection of spring roll, shrimp tempura and fried dumplings was a good. Yum feels like I'm in Japan!!! I will return

BENTO combo- beef and curry katsu

Tried this place today in China Town. It was just fine, I wasn't blown away by anything but nothing was bad either. My husband thought there was too much meat tenderizer in the beef and the idea of the katsu curry is good, but not as ideal in reality. We were starving and have been meaning to try it since it opened awhile back and it was the first thing we walked into when we entered China Town so decided to give it a shot. We got the bento boxes with 2-options and both tried the beef and curry katsu. The Mac salad has a very unique Asian spin to it and was actually great, everything else was good enough if you're looking for Asian fast-dining options. We enjoyed our meal, it's probably not something I'd get all the time but it's convenient if you're looking for a quick and maybe even a little healthier option.

This tastes like mom's kitchen if mom had a high flamed gas stove. The dishes that benefited from that smoky hot wok flavor had it. I was so excited to eat I forgot to take pics of all the dishes at the table. Green beans with garlic was so tasty, I finished the leftovers the same night, I remembered to take a photo in the takeout container. The cauliflower (I don't know the actual name but it's stir fried, spicy and comes with peppers) had wok hei and I couldn't stop eating it. Beef rolls is the sophisticated auntie of the scallion pancake. Think of it like an asian burrito with thin sliced beef, fresh scallion and cilantro, and a touch of hoisin all hugged together with a crispy tasty scallion pancake. The shredded potato tastes like the best potato salad that isn't your picnic potato salad. The shredded potatoes were quickly blanched then stir fried preserving the crunch and crispness similar to al dente pasta. Seasoning was on point. The homiest flavor came from the stewed short rib. The rib pieces were braised in a soy and star anise sauce like what you find in Taiwanese beef noodle soup. The peels potatoes were cut rustically and just cooked through and not mushy. Authentic flavors and freshness like this is so so hard to come by. I can taste the quality of the ingredients used. One tip I have for selecting authentic food is by looking at the customers. If the customers are all Asian eating at an Asian restaurant, you know the food is going to be good. Service was 10/10, waitress was super polite and stopped by to chat with us about the food and SLC. I am from out of town but I grew up eating at NYC Asian restaurants and this is as good as if not better. If you happen to stop by the largest Costco in the world, make a pit stop here to refuel after all those steps.

I couldn't tell you what they put in it other than to tell you, it doesn't matter. Well I could tell you that it has green onion and char siu. The thing I order every single time is the beef roll. It is an onion pancake wrapped around beef, cilantro, and green onion with a delectable sauce. I can't stop tasting it. I feel like you can't go wrong with any of the noodle dishes. Be prepared for a culinary adventure, you won't be disappointed.

Conveniently, we are in town for a couple days and our hotel is just right down the road. It was only right to mark this joint off my SLC food list. We came in around 5 and it was empty. My MIL and I picked a booth by the windows. I enjoy seeing the buzz of this city. It's was chaotic outside but so chill inside. It was nice to have the joint to ourselves. Jay served us tonight. He dropped off a couple menus and got some waters started for us. It was my MIL's first time trying Vietnamese cuisine. It took her a minute to breeze over the menu. As much as I wanted everything, I started off with a cup of the hot and sour soup. For dinner I got the black bean shrimp with veggies. My MIL decided on the bun thit nuong with cha gio. Last minute my MIL decided on some hot and sour soup too. They were dropped off first and it was perfect for hot soup on this cold winter day. The broth was thick and flavorful. It had hearty pieces of tofu, water chestnuts and bamboo shoots. The soup had a good heat to it. The heat didn't hit you right away, it gradually got spicier the more you ate it. My mouth was burning towards the end of my bowl. It was good but it could have been a bit more sour. My plate of black bean shrimp and veggies came out hot! The veggies looked fresh and colorful. The shrimp were plump. And the sauce smelled flavorful and salty from the fermented black bean. You can tell my dish just came out fresh from the wok. The veggies and shrimp were so hot! The shrimp were perfectly cooked. The zucchini, green peppers and bamboo shoots were my favorite. All the veggies were covered in sauce, probably the best way to eat your veggies. I ate the whole plate! I'm not the biggest fan of water chestnuts and I even polished those off. My dish was fantastic. Jay did a great job serving us tonight. He was patient and attentive. He checked up on us several times even though he was so busy with to go orders. The location of this joint was so convenient. Even though it was freezing out, it was cool to walk to dinner. But it's also got to know they have parking available for their guests. Jay did a great job taking care of us tonight. And the food was spot on. I still have quite a few places I need to hit up when I'm in SLC but if we stay in the area again, I will have to hit up Red Lotus again. It was hands down a great meal and experience.
