The gentleman told me they were taking the leftovers to their next event. That response surprised me, especially since I was standing with the person who had paid for the catering service. Later, when I returned, they changed their mind and gave me the remaining tray along with a bag for the coffee vendor. While I appreciated the gesture, the initial response left a negative impression.
