Not sure what just happened to my bangs. I decided to try a new place to save some money since the website said $10 for a bang trim, though I was charged 15. I have long blunt bangs and asked her to just take a quarter inch straight off because I'm in between hair appointments. I ended up with a lot more off, and texture on one side of my bangs and not on the other. Hopefully it'll grow out quick. Not pleased. read more

I was a walk-in around 5:15pm, I waited about 10-15 min for service. I've always had a straight cut, done at home and I wanted to try something new and was nervous about it. I asked for long layers and was open to trimming off my dead ends. Ven started and finished my process with shampoo and curling at the end. Signage on door misleading. Chose this place because it said women's hair cuts 39.99 and had ok reviews. . Got my hair cut and was charged $80. I was shocked as this was the main reason I went here. I could have gone to my high end salon for cheaper than this. My hair cut was disappointing. I wanted a couple inches off my waist long hair to trim up the ends and ended up with the front half of my hair to my shoulders and back half maybe 3 inches longer. The front uneven and choppy and now makes it looks flat. I'm trying to let the front grow out a little before I have to cut it all to my shoulders. So much for my long hair. We'll, it's easy to get an appointment and a men's haircut is $25. However, I've been there 3 times and each time , despite the appointment, I've been there 30 to 1.5 hours before I've been helped. 1.5 hours was because of a wedding party slowing them down. But they will take walk ins and will make appointments wait. I can I understand not wanting to turn away business but sometimes you make an appointment because you can't wait. Pretty basic haircut. A story about how I gave myself alopecia by going to this salon My story begins a few months ago when I went to this salon for some blonde highlights. My scalp and hair were fried in the process. At the time I thought it's just hair and it will grow back; and now I'm going through a lot of trauma from hair loss. I didn't know anything about hair before this experience and now I know too much than I ever wanted. I went to this salon for some highlights that unfortunately were unsuccessful, I left the salon being more brunette than I entered. I then went home and used a color remover on some parts of my hair - my mistake! I called the salon the next day and Heidi graciously offered to fix it - that proved to be a fatal mistake for my hair and scalp unfortunately and I'll regret my whole life for going back there. Heidi and another colleague took care of me that day. Looking back, there were a number a mistakes they made: 1. Before starting, they told me they'll start applying the bleach closer to the roots - I said okay not knowing why; later I realized that it was because they were afraid my hair would break. They were so close to the scalp that the bleach and dye ended up drying my scalp and leaving me with redness on the scalp. 2. They then proceeded to apply very fine highlights so much so that almost all my hair was covered in bleach. No hair was spared. 3. They left me with the bleach for more than 40 mins in all; they came to check at one point and they said that I need to stay more; the second time they came to check they started applying more bleach but a minute into this operation they rushed me to wash my hair. The whole process felt uneasy. 4. At the end of it all, my scalp was hurting - I told them there's no need to blow dry the hair as I wanted to get out of there, but Heidi's colleague didn't care and she proceeded to blow dry me. I got back home with a huge headache, my scalp sore and red, my hair felt weightless, porous, and rigid (later I realized that was damaged hair), and with burns on one side of my face - yes, burns either from the bleach or the dye that was applied at my roots. I felt traumatized by the whole experience but kept saying that it's only hair and it will grow back. I started experiencing hair loss that month and in combination with the sore scalp, I decided to go to a dermatologist who told me it's chemical/trauma alopecia - I actually felt hopeful at that point as that type of alopecia would recover. The next two months I felt burns on my scalp everytime I was washing my hair. And then the huge shedding began for the following 3 months until May. That was the time when I realized that my scalp was itching so bad and still felt sore that I had to go back to the dermatologist. And that's when my nightmare began - I was diagnosed with alopecia (the real one) and scalp dermatitis. I'm going through a lot of trauma that will impact the rest of my life for something that could have been avoided if only these people would have talked to me about the risks of over bleaching or would have made better judgements that day on how and how much bleach to apply. They didn't tell me anything when I went back and their only goal was to achieve blond highlights at the risk of my scalp and health. I lost 80%of my hair since then. I am writing this review because I want to make sure that this doesn't happen again. Please do your research before choosing this salon for coloring especially if it involves bleaching. Also, this salon misleadingly uses past reviews from the previous owner. read more

We inquired about hair coloring for her and we were instantly greeted with kindness and confirmation that they offered hair coloring! In a short time, my daughter was sitting in the hair salon chair ready for her first hair coloring experience; it did not disappoint. The stylist was not only methodical about the process but she was also kind and responsive to our questions. Our stylist is a true master of her craft, it was an inspiration to see her at work and my daughter left the salon the happiest girl on the planet! I'm 37 years old and Christy gave me the best haircut of my life, that's not an exaggeration, it looks and feels amazing! I found this place through Groupon. I booked last minute with Christy whom accommodated me. She did an absolute amazing job. I was nervous at first because it was my first time there and I wasn't too sure what I would be doing with my hair. I went in for a haircut and balayage however, I ended up with a haircut and foils. She was so honest with me and educated me about what might be best for my hair and complexion. I'm extremely happy with the turn out and I really appreciate Christy honesty and great work. Please avoid this place if you're looking for a decent hair cut. I asked for blended layers and what I got is just terrible to even look at. My layers are so uneven and all over the place. The owner is the one who cut my hair. This is more of a barber shop than a hair salon. The owner told me that my last haircut was terrible when in fact this is the probably the worst haircut I've ever gotten. read more

I should have known something was sketchy about a salon with no reviews and nearly-constant Groupons. The Groupon has rediculous fine-print exclusions, which resulted in an upcharge that was MORE than the initial price paid for the Groupon. Best Hair Salon I used to go to Gene Juarez for years. They did a good job, but the prices were starting to get the better of me. Christy at Studio8 is a total pro and has given me the best hair cuts I have ever had. It's hard to try new places, but trust me, you will love her cutting your hair. She explains everything she is going to do before she does it, to make sure it's what you want. My sister and I had a great experience here. I brought her here for her birthday present and she went from having hair past her shoulders to a very prominate inverted bob. Sun did great! My sisters hair is very thick and course and Sun made sure to cut her hair dry (big tip for those with curly/thick hair). They stayed late for us to ensure the best service. On my hair Christine was my stylist and she did awesome. I got highlights and because my hair was damaged (obviously) by the bleach she threw in a free conditioning treatment. Also because I had let my roots grow so much and had only bought the groupon for partial highlights she added a couple highlight packs for free! Great customer service. The staff is friendly and super funny. Great sense of humors. They are good at understanding exactly what you want. I would recommend ANYONE to this place. This is the first time I've written a review on a salon. I was so thankfully impressed with the service and style given to me by Christie, that I had to share. First of all, her staff has changed, and I must say, it's for the better. Instead of walking in and feeling the super charged tense atmosphere it used to be, it's such a pleasure to walk in and feel relaxed now that Connie has left and Christie has brought in a very nice, talented, and unselfish hair dresser. But anyway, ....... Here's what I have Christie do for me on my personal beauty day: 1. Hair cut and style - prices are very reasonable, and she is very talented. She takes pride in her work and is consistently up with her education about her art. She is very knowledgeable and willing to share what she has with you. 2. Eyebrow wax....hands down, she is the best I've ever been to - and I've tried many others. I won't ever change again. She is very, very good at eyebrow waxing. 3. Color - this is EXTREMELY important to anyone.....and Christie bats this one out the park. She is absolutely one of the best colorists around and she doesn't charge you an arm and a leg. Her service, attentive and professional consideration, and manners are excellent. Her new hair dresser is very helpful, hardworking and definitely a team player. BTW, I do want to put a plug in for the nail salon next door to the Salon8: It is so handy to have a full service nail salon there! They do an excellent job, are very good & professional at their work and I just love the convenience for my beauty day! Score! So basically, the word is GO!
