The women at Soothe are wonderful, and have always gone out of their way to help me. I've been there for two facials so far (both times with Dana), and even though there was a few months in-between my appointments Dana still remembered me the second time I came in. She was very sweet, and very helpful. But my other encounters with Soothe have been just as great. I unfortunately have very acne-prone skin (and so a facial cannot fully solve my problems), and was considering getting a peel. I called to ask some questions about the procedure (since I had never had one before) and London spent about 20 minutes on the phone with me talking about different suggestions and approaches, was completely honest with what a peel/more facials could do, and gave me a host of other information. Not only that, but she also followed up with an extensive e-mail detailing everything we talked about so that I could remember and take further action from there. I'm so impressed with this service! I will be stopping by again soon to meet with them and discuss in person the next steps to take. It feels so good to know someone cares about my skin issues and will take the time to really help me find a solution (instead of just forcing their products and procedures on me which may or may not even help). I love Soothe, and highly recommend Dana. I've had facials all over the city. But as soon as I found Dana at Soothe I only go here. My dermatologist first recommended her and I'm so happy he did. My skin has improved and my whole home skin care regimen is vastly better. The products Dana uses are the best, especially In Fiore and Astara. I can't say enough glowing things about In Fiore. They're a local company and WOW. Unreal. Astara is great too, and afforable--I use their blue flame mask religiously. Go see Dana, use these products, buy the Clarisonic (it's like the Sonicare toothbrush but to clean your face!) and you will have clear, healthy skin. And it's a great value so won't break your wallet. I have to add that the bed at Soothe is heaven. It's heated perfectly. And my favorite part of the treatment might be when Dana points to the bed and lets me know that "my chariot awaits." I went into Soothe for the first time as it was highly recommended by a friend. My appointment was scheduled for 7 pm on a Friday evening after an extremely stressful work week. I was happy to meet Briann, who I found out was a little newer to the salon. When I walked in, I was already relaxed! The facial/massage room was nice and dark and relaxing. The room was so clean and smelled so fresh... ...then it began...the BEST facial of my life! Briann was so attentive and asked how I was doing but not in an annoying way, more because she wanted to gear the facial/extractions exactly to my liking. I found myself telling her at one point that she was made to do this! She massaged my face, shoulders, and upper body. I liked all the products and my skin was seriously shining for about 2 weeks. I made my appointment for my next facial with Briann as soon as I finished. It was a great way to pamper myself! I didn't feel like Briann was in any rush to finish up and told me take my time and relax when I was getting ready to go. She was professional and so attentive, not to mention funny and sweet. I had a facial done on Tuesday with Jeska Manuel. It was amazing. The experience was really relaxing and she made me feel super comfortable. She also had the softest hands. She recommended products to use but was never pushy about purchasing their products. My face still feels super smooth. I would definitely be back for another facial with Jeska again. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves to get pampered and feel beautiful. On April 29th, I went to soothe again for a massage and a brazilian. I had a massage with Mandi. I fell asleep on the massage bed and I think I even started snoring a little. She was gentle and released all the tensed area on my shoulder and back. Oh I love her! Definitely will see her again. Dana did my Brazilian and I have to admit, she's wonderful! She made me feel comfortable and was really patient. She took her time and did not rush (it's a senstive area). I can't say enough great things about Studio Soothe! I've been coming here for over 2 years now consistently for Brazilians, and have had both Sally and Natalia. I went to Soothe about 6 months ago, when I first moved to the Bay area. I meant to Yelp it then, but life always gets in the way. Anyways, I went solely on Yelp reviews and recommendations from the few locals I had befriended. As a budding entrepreneur and an advocate of small business, I wanted to give one of the little guys a chance instead of heading to one of the bigger spa chains. WOW. London has the personality of a goddess. She is so nurturing and relaxed that you can't help but forget every worry in your brain and every tense muscle in your body. And this is even before the massage starts. The heated massage chairs and plush blankets almost put me to sleep. The aromatherapy used is incredibly effective and never overpowering. I usually make massages a yearly occurance although I probably should go more often as my back becomes a brick wall around stressful times. I get so wound up that on occassion I've been known to ask people, friends, boyfriend, coworkers and the like to punch me in the neck. Repeatedly. I hold so much tension in my neck and shoulders I'm surprised my shoulders aren't coming out of my head instead of my body. I scrunch myself so tight I wouldn't be surprised if you could see veins popping out. Tori was very welcoming and the space itself is very comforting, not unlike my love and review of the Yoga Loft. Nothing about the space is pretentious. I instantly felt at easy and safe. I got a chance to explain the whole neck/shoulder thing and also note that my arms and calves tend to be sensetive to pressure. While I had an excellent massage at Kubuki Spings for my birthday a couple of years ago, my legs and arms were bruised. Please don't be like me and speak up whether your too hot or too cold. I was neither, but did feel a bit chilly and then got all caught up in my own brain about whether I should say I was getting cold or not and while I was arguing my doormat kinda self, Tori turned on the heat. Because she knew. And it was a relief. I trust more of you out there are more outspoken then I am. After that, I sorta just drifted off. Not quite asleep, not quite awake. The pressure was just right, not too much and not too soft. I was in such a daze when I left I forgot my debit card on the counter and Tori had to chase after me to give it back. I decided to try Tori since London is booked until next century. I was in horrible pain from heavy lifting form my job and needed immediate relief! The spa is tiny, and not glamorous, but it is welcoming and private. Tori has a sweet calming personality, unlike some practitioners I felt she could really sense what was going on in my body and adjusted her pressure and technique accordingly. Several times I've gone to larger boutique spas and felt the therapist was just going through the motions, Tori was very present. When the message ended I felt taller and looser, just what I wanted. My only disappointment was that both the room and table were a little cold for my tastes which was not relaxing. Next time I will request it to be warmer, but it wouldn't discourage me from going back. update 2/26/07: In keeping with their excellent service, London Elise contacted me about my complaint and assured me that my next visit will be warm and cozy. When I got there, the staff were friendly and offered me some hot tea. I was scheduled for a facial with Kathleen. She was an expert and very professional. She asked me numerous questions to ensure that I would get the experience I wanted. My face looked a million times better after she was done. My treatment included a hand/foot/neck massage. Overall a good and relaxing time. The only disappointment was no foot massage. I guess there wasn't time? They use dermalogica products and they're into aromatherapy. In one week I got the integrated massage from Tori, and a mini facial from Ellen. Both of them were incredible! Tori was pretty much amazing. Yes, that sum up everything I had to say about her. The pressure was perfect. It wasn't too hard and wasn't too soft. This particular massage you will get a little bit of everything. Aromatherapy, hot stone, and swedish. It was my first time getting a hot stone massage and it felt sooo good. The stones were a bit hot when it first touches your skin but soon you will get used to it and you will feel this warm sensation all over your back. The best thing about this particular massage, it's not only you do a good thing to your body, but you're also helping others. 10% of this massage will go to cause of the month. I decided to try the mini facial (30 minutes) since I've never got one from here before and I have to be so very careful who can touch my face. It was my mistake for not getting the soothe facial (60 minutes) instead. Ellen was very kind and knowledgeable. She did this massage on my face where she gave a little bit of pressure on my temples, which amazingly felt very good. It was so good, I even started falling asleep. I had a great experience here. It was my first time going and I was made to feel very at ease when I entered. The staff was quick to get me in my room and off to massage-land. My masseuse was very attentive and asked me all the right questions. Considering I opted for a one hour massage, she didnt miss a thing. Earlier this year, I was given a generous gift of a facial at a big, fancy downtown spa. While the service was fine, I was happy to have used up my gift certificate and get back to Soothe for my next facial. The reasons: 1. London is a pro. She listens, makes recommendations, and takes care of you. When figuring out your treatment, she takes into account external factors such as weather, habits, even your stress level! She also knows how to deal with very tempermental Filipina skin. 2. She doesn't push products (the person at downtown spa did, which seems to be par for the course). 3. Soothe is not a slick, pretentious place--it's small, but very clean and pretty inside. Their investment is in providing great service, not in renting a huge space just to create an impression. 4. I know that the prices for their services are reasonable and fair. Spa services are a still a luxury for most of us working people, and I feel that I'm getting my money's worth each time I go. 5. Soothe is in my neighborhood, so I am able to walk there. (But if I had to move, I'd take whatever transport necessary to get there). read more

The best facial I've ever had has been at Soothe with Sally! I'm in my mid-20s but my skin looks older than that--I have really dry/oily combo skin, lots of redness, and large pores. Sally did a great job addressing my skin's problems, using sensitive products during the facial and making great recommendations post-treatment. I ended up going home with a lovely moisturizer with rose in it from Birdy Botanicals, which has helped with my redness and dryness. Overall Sally was exceptionally warm, welcoming, and professional, and I plan on seeing her again. Also, I have to reiterate what everyone else has said about how relaxing the facial itself was--the studio really lives up to its name. I have not even met London Elise in person yet but she is already one of my favorite people. I actually didn't find out about her through Yelp (GASP!). My super sexy and hot hot hot friend, Mark, who works at The Film Yard, mentioned me to London in hopes that she might want to donate to Rocket Dog Rescue and Mark told me she was ecstatic at the idea. There are 3 things a woman needs in her life to look hot: Red lipstick, 4 inch stilettos, and Dana. My face hails from the land of cystic acne, flakey dry patches, and the occasional spread of blackheads -no antibiotics and dermatologists have been able to conquer it. I almost resorted to a lifetime supply of foundation until I swallowed $120 and booked Dana. The spa is small and the parking is on the street-but everyone makes you feel welcomed from the moment you step in and as you step out. Initially, I was skeptical about the "all natural" products. What can brown sugar do that chemicals can't? But Dana was so attentive -she respected my needs to just lie there and be pampered while keeping me informed about what she was putting on my face if I asked. She made sure I was comfortable-during the treatment as well as before and after. "If anything burns, let me know and I'll take it off." She mixed a lot of the products together to best suit my face. Her extractions were the least painful I've had. Upon leaving, my face was red, a tad oily and I wasn't sure what to expect from this tiny spa. But lo and behold -she really is that nice and welcoming. She's also located right near my house, which is slightly dangerous for my bank account, after my treatment yesterday. I had a back massage and back facial (London is not only a liscenced massage therapist, but a highly qualified esthetician) Since her practice is small, she has alot of time to dedicate to each client, and she really takes her time, listening to everything going on in your life, what skin ailments you've been having, and where you're really needing some strong back pressure. But moreso - she's an exceptional person, who not only exceeds at giving a great massage and skin treatment , but who really takes the time to listen to whatever issues you have. Actually - she has the right idea - back pain and itchy skin are often caused by stress. Stress we build up inside us. Go see Dana. Period. Her facials are incredible. She is very intuitive and I have always left with incredibly clean and smooth skin! Her facials are very relaxing and the only time they're not is when she's doing extractions - but she's very good and fast with extractions. I have incredibly sensitive skin and have never reacted to the products that she uses. The only trouble with getting a facial from Dana is that you'll never want to see anyone else and her availability reflects that! Since it was my first facial ever, I really have nothing to compare my experience with Dana to, but it was a fantastic introduction and I'll definitely be back. Approaching my 36th birthday, I decided to treat myself to a facial. I had heard through a friend that Soothe was excellent so I booked an appointment online. Dana and I discussed what products I am currently using and advised me to take one harsh scrub out of the mix and offered a sample of a more gentle scrub. The setting was calm, relaxed and perfect for a late afternoon facial. She described what she was doing and prepared me for the "pain" of the extraction process, but I was so at peace I hardly felt anything. The music soothed, the table was comfy and I easily could've fallen asleep. We discussed how often I should come back and some tips on shaving as well. For our anniversary, my boyfriend bought me a gift certificate to Soothe SF. I had never heard of Soothe before, but he did some research (yes, on Yelp) and must have come to the conclusion that Soothe was the best option out there. After my visit to Soothe, I now know why it's an award-winning spa! First off, Soothe has an online booking system. I was able to easily set up my facial appointment at the tip of my fingertips. I booked my "Soothe Facial" with Dana Craft, who seemed to have exceptional reviews everywhere. You also have the option of adding-on extras such as a face wax and hand/feet massage. Soothe is a really small, cozy 2-door spa located on Hayes. I arrived at my appointment really early, and the friendly receptionist greeted me promptly. She offered me tea, water, and told me to make myself feel right at home. When it was time for my appointment, Dana introduced herself and gave me a thorough explanation on my facial process. Dana is amazing! She is not only friendly, but she knows exactly what her clients need and want. My skin felt like it was reborn and I felt so rejuvenated after getting my facial. She tailored the products according to me and my skin. If you're worried about your sensitive skin getting irritated, don't worry they have a TON of products that can be used on many different skin types. Extraction can really hurt, but Dana walks you through everything. She is very down to earth, and she is the most honest esthetician I've ever met! She's not afraid to tell you "this is what you're doing wrong" and "this is how you can treat your skin better". I HIGHLY recommend Dana Craft for facials, and I definitely recommend Soothe Spa! I came here for my first facial ever and it won't be my last! I was impressed and left with a happy and glowing face. The studio was warm and had plenty of welcoming vibes. I appreciated the hot tea that was offered before we got started and the facilities looked squeaky clean. When I got into the room, I changed into a robe and got into the bed, which was nice and cozy. Dulce did a great job and had me feeling super relaxed, to the point where I wanted to drift away into a slumber (which is really great because I have trouble falling asleep, so this means a job well done!). She always kept me informed to what she was doing and asking if I was okay, which I was super! Afterwards, Dulce answered all of my questions I had about my skin, which was great and I am motivated to keep hydrated and eat better--for the sake of my skin! I had such an emotional stressful week at work. Thank goodness there was an opening after work this past week! I walk in and the smells were just marvelous. Great people great service. You'll be welcomed with a beautiful smile, a modern sitting area with tea and or water. Be ready to fill out a short easy form of any allergic reactions and the sorts. Then once you are set you'll be escorted to the room you will begin to be pampered. The rooms are so zen full. Nice calm music will be playing. After you're set and are between a nice thick cover and a heated bed, your specialist will re enter the room and start the magic. Not sure if the name of the machine they used but it blows out a mist of nice aromas. I went in for a mans facial so my specialist asked me questions about my skin and treated my face as needed. The products she used smelt great. She explained what and why on each product she used. And I also received a nice hand arm and neck massage. Who wouldn't love that. I booked at appointment at Soothe because I got a gift certificate for the 75 minute hot stone massage for my birthday. I had no expectations. I thought Joan did an excellent job. She fully explained the hot stone massage process (this was my first) and I felt very comfortable the entire time. She did a really good job of working out the knots in my shoulders and staying attune to my needs. I will definitely be back, but probably for a regular massage. read more
