Fred is Undo's sensei that will help you sculpt your beach body, and lift your spirit. Don't be shy, this place is for all levels. When I started here, I was out of shape and single. Now, people mistaken me for Captain America and my ex-wife wants to get back together. This gym/studio works by appointment. There's private appointments or group classes. Ballers may be interested in private sessions, but I love the groups classes - there's nothing like breaking a good sweat with the rest of the amazing Avengers. In addition, the group classes are max 6 people, so it's still a pretty small, which allows you to have professional feedback along the workout.

I started out with private lessons for a long time, because I was simply intimidated. But Fred's natural charisma and encouragement put me at ease immediately. I progressed and looked forward to going to the studio as often as I could. As a California transplant, I was not prepared for the cold winters and I could not get outside to run as I normally could. So I hunkered down for the winter and did what Fred told me to do. And it was always fun. I mean sometimes it sucked, but in a good way. Fred is always aware of where I am in terms of ability and knows when to push, when to encourage and when to make adjustments. He Then spring rolled around and I ran my maybe 40th half marathon. After not running on my own. I beat my personal time by more than 7 minutes. It was pretty fantastic.

Sooooooo. Time to eat my words. I signed up for this gym. Turns out it isn't that bad. It's the…read moreclosest gym to my house and I think this motivates me to show up. My parents decided to get me this as a Christmas/birthday gift(ever since I graduated CEGEP I've been a real couch potato). I'm really satisfied so far. I've already made some acquaintances. The teachers are really great for the group classes. Really friendly and fun. The women's locker rooms are a bit crowded but I've always managed to find a good spot so far. It did take me a bit of time to get used to all the chaos though. The pool is also really convenient for laps. On good days I get a whole lane to myself! And this is when the pool is open to everyone, not just members. Very very satisfied with this gym :)

I believe you can get two versions of their membership, one solely for this Y (cheaper) and one that you can use anywhere in Quebec, so you can access any Y. In terms of the facilities, it has a gym, a pool, a fitness centre and several studios. There's also lockers. Everything is pretty decently maintained. The fitness centre does have a number of equipment but it's not a lot. So yes, you do need to make sure to reserve the cardio equipment. The lockers are pretty clean and I've never had an issue getting a locker even during busy hours. Their fitness classes are also very good. the teachers are very nice and energetic. I loved Rivky's Zumba strong classes but it is no longer being offered. The best part about attending those classes is that you can actually make friends with the people around you. Everyone is so nice! Overall, this is a great and affordable gym in the Mile End area.

Had been at the old location for years - and still miss it. Progym is not only one of the best gyms…read morein Montreal - but in Canada and the USA. Every time I took a friend from the US visiting - it was always stated once we left "can we come back tomorrow?". With the old location sold / demolished - it was a hard feat for the owners to find a location that could match its size/ atmosphere. It goes beyond training - it is an experience. Well, they managed to move. With trepidation the first time - could the formulae be repeated. It is a true lifters gym. You will find equipment there that is rare to find. The Legs section - come on - find me another place that has the amount of equipment / machines. Come on - 6 + different squat machines! Gym Size : I have been to gyms for NFLD to BC and many in between - nothing matches this place for size / space / equipment. It is now stretched out over two levels of intelligent use of space. Added feature : Meditation Room | Barber | Food Services with good seating (+access to microwaves if you brought something) | Supplements Shop | Kick Boxing Area + | Dentist Office | Tanning Beds | Private Closed Door Area for Women's Only Gym | Tons of Free Parking When it moved and was too far for me the time to get to - I tried EVERY other gym in DT Montreal and areas near - Sweet Dear God - throw head on table - Not The Same Thing! Pricing : Not only one of the best price in Montreal for all this equipment - but in Canada. In DT Vancouver it was $100 a month - similar hight prices in other cities with less equipment. Progym offers specials as low as $320 a year if you hit right! Hours : 24hrs /5 days- except Sat/Sun / closing at 9:00 pm + slew of Accredited Trainers (M/F) if required. Crowd : For most part - heads down - there to train and leave. From dedicated lifters to novices. Decent crowd for most parts. Go check it out. Easy sign-up, no crazy overaggressive sales tactics (like American gyms), key fob can be reactivated when you revisit or if you work remotely. Top 5 Reasons to join this gym: 1. Motivation. Everyone here is there to get fit, stay fit, and they respect the place and the equipment. 2. True training. A gym that's not just for getting in shape (e.g. gym muscles). This is a legit training facility. I haven't seen much of this in commercial gyms (only at say, college athletics training facilities). 3. Respect. No sales tactics. 4. No waiting. Multiple identical workout stations (if there's a unique machine or rack or board or bar you love and rarely shows up at commercial gyms, or if they have it, they have one. ProGym will have 4 of them) 5. Old school and latest tech. Missing an old school rack or tired of lugging your own TRX to the gym, they'll have it.
