Coming from NYC I was a little anxious about my hair/makeup, as I didn't fly down to do a trial. Robyn (makeup) and Jena (hair) NAILED both my looks, and were so amazing to work with. Can I say Wow?! I am a very type A person and do a lot of research on anything (ie travel, food, etc). When I planned my destination wedding, I did a lot of research before booking with Studio Marie-Pierre. I am so elated that I picked them!! I called them probably a few days before my Tuesday evening wedding on Sunset Key. Marie was very friendly and happily answered any questions I had. On the day of the scheduled wedding, my hair stylist and makeup artist were on time and very efficient!! They patiently waited for me while I was prepping (I had just gotten out of the shower when they arrived) and were so fast and friendly! Sean (or Shawn) and Galina are such a wonderful talented pair! After asking me what I wanted or pictured for my hair style, Sean did my hair in probably half an hour or 45 min and it looked wonderful! Galina stayed behind to finish on my makeup and I cannot thank her enough! I am usually makeup free or wear very little makeup and she was able to do my makeup to enhance my features without making me look cakey and overdone. I wanted smoky eyes and she did an amazing job! My friend was getting married destination style so contacted Marie Pierre who was to do her make-up/hair. A couple weeks before she was advsied that Marie-Pierre was not actually available but that her able assistant was. Assistant did a great job on adjusting to what we wanted ultimately (I'm not sure she was buying into what the bride and I were after, and eventually caved). However, I think it was a tad unprofessional and disappointing to have Marie Pierre cancel without explanation. Assistant, I would also have given her some caffeine so that she would have been somewhat more perky, not that we wanted perkey but some life, a smile or two here and there would have been much appreciated. Great in her talents, but could use improvement in the interaction. I would certainly recommend the Studio though, especially in light of the archaic designs on the island, their work is modern, even though slightly pricey. read more

I'm not a girl that's afraid of makeup and Marie made me up exactly how I wanted to be made up without looking too heavy. I haven't gotten my eyelashes done very often but I've been told they are not suppose to be uncomfortable. Shortly after I left my eyelids got kind of itchy. Just over all uncomfortable. I was really impressed with Marie-Pierre. I scheduled a makeup, hair, and eyelash package with her about four months in advance. She was very sweet and down-to-earth, and very easy to talk to while we were getting me ready. She did a great job and I felt like a million bucks afterwards. My hair didn't hold up as well as I'd liked, but I don't think anyone could accomplish that feat in south Florida humidity. Otherwise everything looked great. This review is ONLY for the spray tan. I was in Key West looking at wedding venues, and figured I would start the hunt for a good spray tan as well. I am a HUGE spray tanner and I wanted to make sure I had a good one picked out for my wedding. First. There was no discussion about color, it was one size fits all. This is not what I'm used to, but every solution is different so I went with it. Next, there was no prep at all. I'm used to having a little prep done on my skin before the color goes on. Some nutrient spray on the hands, feet, elbows, etc. areas that might get a little darker. This didn't happen, and it was noticeable. The color was actually good (I would have liked it a little darker). It took a long time for it to develop, but when I woke up I was happy with the color. Unfortunately because there was no prep there were some splotches. Most importantly my hands (kind of an important thing on your wedding day) both had some major issues, they looked like total spray tan hands. There were some other issues, on my feet and such but the hands were the worst. The whole reason of paying for an airbrush tan is to not have these issues It's also REALLY expensive for a spray tan. I live in Chicago and you can get a really good spray tan for $40-45, so paying $65 for an OK tan was a bummer. Still planning on trying them for a hair and makeup trial next time I am down in the keys as they have great reviews for that. But I'll need to keep trying out places for a spray tan. read more

Our hair and make-up team was phenomenal. Myself and my entire bridal party have all been in many weddings (including their own) and the make-up was the best we have ever had. The airbrush make-up was some kind of miracle make-up. It did not allow your face to melt off in the Key West summer heat. I did not ever feel one little sweat bead! The colors were perfect, the application quick yet detailed. EYELASHES - just WOW, our eye lashes were one of my favorite things. They were bold and not overbearing. They could easily stay on for a week plus if you wanted them. Our hair was fabulous as well, of course with the heat, everyone decided to do an up-do, which was necessary. Everyone was pretty easy going about the style, some had Pinterest pics and others did not. They gave everyone a unique yet beautiful style. My hair was perfection; the trial we did a few months back was identical with some extra pizzazz. We added a beautiful jeweled piece and it turned out to be just the right extra touch. After reviewing many , I chose Studio Marie Pierre from their good reviews and promise to handle beach and outdoor weddings in Key West . They required a $ 60 deposit , I quickly sent it . I also sent them a pic of the type of hair I have . I told them I had an outdoor venue very important !! Humidity is key in Key West ! Just to let you know it was not that humid at my sunset wedding . I entered the salon 10 minutes early and followed all their directions . They want your hair unshampooed unless it is greasy and very dirty . If you want it straight , you must straighten it yourself and if you want it curly , you must come with it clean but not too clean , must wash atleast 2-3 hours before . and blow dry as usual ? I was ready with a picture and followed all these directions. if you send the 60.00 deposit it will be deducted if not used for extra services or products . The girls were very friendly and excellent at their craft . My picture of what I wanted was easy to follow as my hair was perfect for the style . My problem is they did not prepare it for the outdoor wedding it started to sag shortly after and I waited 3 hours in our air conditioned condo . Then into an air conditioned car on to the ceremony outside, by then there were big issues and my future husband and I were alone with no family ( we're older second wedding ) . The wedding planners were so nice but the photographer had such a difficult time with my hair drooping in my face and whisping all over . He had to keep helping me fix it . As far as makeup and product used very minimal . The value for what I received was not equal to the quality !! My review was answered by the this business and after telling them that my wedding would be outside on the beach many times and on that day , it was never advised to me that I should wear my hair up , had I known from their expertise I would of been well informed . My professional photographer started the same issue with my hair that it could have worked out better . He had to stop and keep fixing it . Too much money , for too little effort and guidance on the details . Not allot of work for and time . I felt like the drive by bride !!!
