When I walked out of the salon, I was so unhappy I could not even speak-I have been growing my hair out for over a year, trying to achieve the same length all around-had a conversation with the stylist told her I wanted to keep it long just to trim it so that it can continuously grow to the same length but I still want to put it in a ponytail-she seemed a little distant, but gave me a good hair wash and I got in the chair. Next thing I know she cut my hair at the chin. She gave me a short bob- after she made the first cut I said I wanted to keep it in a ponytail. Why are you cutting it so short oh don't worry it'll grow in. It'll grow in nicely. She cut 4 inches off the side. There was nothing else I could do about the rest of it. I will never go back there, and I will never recommend them to anyone. Came here because my friend selected this place for the bridesmaids....Staff was exceptional, and extremely hospitable. Served all the bridal party fresh Mimosas. Drank 3 so I guess I got my $ worth. It was a bit pricey but worth it. $85 hair do $15 nail polish change for my feet $35 eye make up $135.00 not including tip. I recommend! read more

The owner Nancy at Headlines Hair Solon in Key West Florida is a thief! I called to see how much it would cost to have my daughters hair washed and blow dried. And Mia told me it was $47. When I went up to pay, Nancy, the owner said that it was $67. Then she asked about a tip. She would not honor what Mia her employer told us earlier that day. That is ridiculous! When I travel I always get my hair cut as it is the only time I get to do it. So glad I found this place. Carla did a wonderful job on my hair! It has been 4 months since she cut it and only now is starting to look messy. Her cut was that good! She took the time to make the style and shape appropriate for my age and lifestyle and shaped it so beautifully. She even offered to do my brows and did an amazing job. Really appreciate a stylist who is not only friendly and skilled but who helps a customer make the most of their time. This place was extremely overpriced! The bride booked the appointment for hair and makeup because it was in a convenient location. For some beach curls on a short bob and makeup the total was $180. $80 for hair and $100 for make up?! That's crazy! They could have at least offered us something to drink while getting ready! The hair stylist was subpar, I could have done my hair better. It only took him about 10min to style. I only gave this place 2 stars for the makeup because it did look nice but not $100 nice. Very disappointed! Wish we would have done more research on other places because this place was a SCAM! read more

Unfortunately not worth the price. While just about everything in Key West is expensive, this was over the top. $90 for a pedicure & acrylic fill - really?! And they don't have the comfy pedicure chairs - you literally sit at the nail table with your feet in a portable foot spa like you'd get at CVS, then the tech works on your feet in her lap. Not exactly the height of relaxation. If only the work had been incredible, I would feel much better about the price, but I could have done this level of work myself. One plus - the employees were friendly & easy to talk to. Other than that, not a great experience. read more

Only getting two stars because the lady was nice... I can only comment on pedicures because that was the only service. It was really not good. Made my boyfriend bleed a little and absolutely nothing special for spending $100 on two. I would pass. Very nice staff though. I had the worst experience at this salon with professionalism, hair cut quality, lack of customer service, and overall experience. I had been looking forward to cutting my hair off after my wedding and tried to engage with my hair stylists who clearly was in a hurry. I tried to warm her up to me, but she was non responsive. After asking her to cut my hair just longer than shoulder length, she started cutting without checking with me. Since you can always go shorter, I was shocked she didn't gradually trim and check for feedback. My hair is now 2" or so shorter than I had wanted. Somehow she trimmed my hair in such a way that my bottom "layers" are shorter than the outermost layers of my hair. This is hands down the worst haircut of my life. I'm devastated because this will take MONTHS to grow to the length I wanted, or just a length that hair can be fixable by another salon. The stylist did not check with my satisfaction during the process and clearly wanted to just be done with me. After two days of pondering what to do, I had to leave for my flight and called to see if anything could be done. Nobody should be paying $70 for this... I should not have left a tip. This was a $5 haircut at best. I called to provide feedback just now and the person who picked could not have cared less. Did not ask who saw me, didn't ask when I came in.... from a business owner perspective or management perspective or customer service perspective, any logical person should want to improve their customers experiences and get to the root of the problem. I'm devastated, angry, and feel helpless. Hoping this review saves other folks from the same experience. read more

Make-Up by Rebecca Schilling was absolutely fandamntastic; application beginning three hours before my destination wedding ceremony. The appointment was scheduled through some inquiry website I found while researching an alternative to eyelash extensions. I had just paid $300 to try them out thinking I would do my own make-up, but the results of the lashes were extremely disappointing, not that I wanted to look like a Vegas showgirl. Rebecca's rates were reasonable, a tiny bit less than what others were quoting, but her consistency in communicating reassured me that setting a date 6 months in advance might be safe to count on. Her work shown on the website was quite nice, too, more elaborate than what I was looking for. I arrived early, the staff was wonderful, Rebecca arrived on time, started promptly and worked her magic. I'm sixty-one, she brought out a youth I didn't know existed, simply restored life, vibrance and perfect color to my face that I haven't seen in awhile. Later, during the ceremony, my groom was smitten... repeatedly he would whisper to me how beautiful I was. WOW! Thank you, Rebecca, for the beautiful words from my husband and the beautiful photos that you made possible. It's greatly appreciated for the only 'real' wedding I've ever experienced. read more

WARNING. I took my 12 year old daughter for a manicure today at Headliners. I was quoted a price of $30. When I went to check out the lady that runs the place told me it would be $60. When I told her that was ridiculous and that I was quoted $30 she informed me that they did a shellac manicure (which is in their brochure at $50). The polish my daughter selected was apparently gel. She didn't know and I did my know that meant shellac. I was sitting right there and no one asked me or told me they were doing this process. I would never have agreed because it has to be removed and was double the price. We own a home here and based on other reviews I think she assumed we were another unsuspecting tourist. There is a great nail place in the same complex. Headliners has a horrible reputation based on reviews. Don't go to this place. read more

TOURIST RIPOFF!! I have never written a negative review, but I couldn't ignore what I experienced. All I wanted was to have my hair washed and blown out. I am a frequent traveler and get my hair blow regularly. I wanted a late afternoon appointment and called around. I know it's a tourist area but come on!! More expensive than New York or Boca Raton. The finished product was just average. I said nothing. I went to pay and was told it was $72.00. I said what? I said it was a blow dry. Ohh thought you had your hair cut too. So she said its $62.00. I know I don't live here, I've been here many times. Never have I ever paid this!! Oh so it's a sliding scale. I was told they have high rent to pay. Shame on you!!!! I was visiting from out of town and stopped in for a desperately needed mani-pedi. Cissy was fantastic, and did a great job. Very professional and relaxing. Plus she had some really amazing tips on some local finds. We followed almost all of them and were thrilled with them all. Staff very friendly upon entry too, which wasn't always a given at some of the other places we tried. I would absolutely come back here if in Key West again. read more

I was recommended here months ago for my wedding. I made the apt months prior and when I called I asked if they could do hair tinsel. this is something I really really wanted for my wedding. I could do it myself but takes time or I could of had it done prior here in boca if they couldn't. But they reassured me they had someone to do it. Even when I called a week before our arrival to confirm apt I asked again and they said yes someone was there to do it. Now my trial for hair and make up was on Thursday and my wedding was on sat. They NEVER said I would be paying full price for the trial either. I get there and showed the hair dresser several pics of what I wanted. I also asked, would you be the one doing my hair tinsel? and he says, whats hair tinsel? NOONE KNEW HOW TO DO HAIR TINSEL AT THE SALON!! I feel bad bc he was very very nice but I told him I curl my hair every week using a wand and never use hair spray and it stays perfect. So he uses a curling iron and uses hair spray... the complete opposite... curls fell and my hair wasn't really exactly what I wanted. Then on to the make up. again Rebecca the makeup artist was really nice... but she barely put any make up on me... it was crazy... I go up to counter when done, so sick to my stomach with this all and Nancy tells me $75 and $85!!! WHAT??? I'm paying $75 for some foundation and $85 for trial hair that I hate?!?!?! AND you didn't even do the hair tinsel... you lied... plus tip... place is a MAJOR MAJOR rip off... needless to say I canceled my whole parties apts for sat. I had to do everything myself for the wedding. my gf to an excellent job on my make up. but so sick to my stomach that I wasted $$$ on nothing... and that I have to write this review bc this is usually not the type of person I am... and honestly they were nice people but this just wasn't great service :-( read more

DO Yourself a favor and listen to the prior reviews. This salon is not worth the price at all. It is not an attractive salon to begin with. The service rm I had a treatment in had a sheet on the bed that looked so nasty. Not your usual clean white sheet or even roll paper that is changed with every client. I was hestitant to lie down. The esthetician was lovely, did a great job, but should not be here. She belongs in an upscale place. When it came time to check out, the price I had been told on phone was not even close to what I was charged. When I asked to see their price list, I was chrged even more than what was listed. When I asked why, I was told they have a range for that wax. Even though it was listed at $40, they charge between that and $57.(. I paid $47). What, is cost based on how much hair a person has, the size of person??? who knows, but in all my years of waxing , I have never heard of that. Also, the person cutting a friends hair complained pretty much the whole time. Not a very relaxing time. They don't even wash your hair before cutting. Must be extra. There are plenty of other places that you would feel much more pampered at. read more

Awesome experience. Me and my wife planned a day trip to key west from islamorada. On the agenda were pedicures, and fun. We got both here at Headlines. After making our way to Duval st. We stopped in this wonderful shop without an appointment, and got seated right away after juggling a few things. The technician that did my wife's feet actually was off, and just stopped in to say hi and make a phone call. Saw the predicament her fellow employees were in and stayed to take care of my wife. Now that is above and beyond service. Not only that we all had to he best time laughing and joking like old friends even though we were complete strangers. Just wonderful. Spend the rest of the afternoon walking key west with rejuvenated feet. Thank you all at Headlines. read more

My daughter and I went for day-of family portrait blow-outs. We both have long, color treated hair NOT used to the Key West humidity. Both of us were pleased and our styles lasted through the shoot. Fairly regularly, I use a salon to blow my hair out when I'm traveling, and this was by far the most expensive, so if cost is an issue, you might want to call ahead to ask prices. If you decide to go ahead, ask for Jonathan. He was full of information about recommendations and even walked me to a local restaurant to see if he could get us a reservation for NYE! Not a good place at all. I went in for a pedicure and the nail technician casually offered to use polish that would "last three weeks." I initially said no, and she was so surprised that I would refuse this that I said yes. Absolutely no mention that there was a greatly increased cost for this polish. $90 for a pedicure! And it was sloppily done by the technician who spent most of the time yakking with another technician about her marriage falling apart. I won't ever go back there again. read more

I went in to get a cut and color. For my cut I just wanted what i had trimmed and cleaned up. for the color I wanted to get rid of my faded wild red and go a soft multi toned brown and touch up my roots. The stylist told me it would be too much work to do it all. So I thought we agreed on doing the roots and low lights to blend and a big chunk of blonde and a more natural looking red highlight to add some "fun" to my hair. This was not what I left with. I am a licensed cosmetologist so I may be a bit more picky, but this was really bad. My roots were never touched, my blonde was pink and should've been toned, the "big" chunks were tiny and just made the previous faded color look even more faded. The packet placement was uninspired and basic. As far as the cut, it had the right idea but not enough follow through. It needed more texturizing and post styling clean up. Also, my bangs were cut wet so after they dried they were very choppy looking. Overall, I would've expected that type of work out of a cost cutters or super cuts. For the $200 dollars that I spent I really should've left looking better, not worse than I did when I came in. Besides the poor consultation and lack of skill the conversation was very unprofessional and inappropriate. There are some things I don't even want to know about my closest friends let alone a random stranger. I also noticed another stylist drop a clip, pick it up off the floor and put it right in her client's hair without sanitizing. Bad experience over all and way too expensive. I went to Headlines on July 22 along with my daughter, the occasion was for my wedding. The experience a disaster! If I can save you time and money then its worth a try, this horrible salon charged me $300 dollars for styling my hair, my daughters hair, and my make-up. First, my hair was not done, I walked in with a hair clip and walked out with the same clip, my daughter's hair was looking a hot mess, I was told several times that they are not familiar with styling my hair, Im latin, my hair is full and not thin but not nappy and my daughter has beautiful curls. The look on the stylist face was disgusting as she was styling my daughter's hair and she dug the comb into her scalp so hard my daughter screamed, the lady turned to me and apologized, my stylist continued teasing my hair, I already have volume! I was in tears and so was my daughter. I had one hour before my ceremony and was crying so hard. I was angry and upset at the way we were treated. Correct me if Im wrong, someone goes to beauty school to learn how to handle all hair types, I have J Lo hair, Volume, how can someone say, I cant do your hair, then dont even try! be honest. What drove me over the top was after the $300 charge that I couldnt argue at the time because I had to fix the disaster on my daughter head and do my own hair before the wedding was when the owner asked me, if I was tipping the stylist!
