I don't often leave reviews, but this one needed to be written. This is easily one of the worst nail sets I've ever had--and I've consistently gotten my nails done for over 10 years. The shape and thickness are inconsistent from nail to nail, and the polish application is messy and uneven. Additionally, the salon itself is very unsightly. In hindsight, that should have been my first red flag, but options on the island are limited. That said, even with limited choices, I would strongly advise against choosing this salon. To be fair, I will note one positive: although my technician started out very rough and abrasive in how he handled my hands, he did make an effort to correct his approach and softened once he sensed I had reached my limit of repeatedly trying to explain and correct imperfections. He warmed up and attempted to be more accommodating. Nonetheless, this was absolutely not a $65+ nail set. read more

Peter is a very nice person. He did my nails. He conversed and was pleasant; notwithstanding, this was the most rushed job I ever had with my nails. EVER. The one nail replacement I had looks nothing like my other nails. They pass on the credit card processing fee to the customer so you pay an additional $3 if using a credit card or debit card vs. cash. Crazy. I wish I didn't have dust particles all under my paint job. I wish my cuticles weren't attacked by the drill and that they weren't burning when the PH was applied. The entire job was rushed. Peter kept saying throughout the job that the nails were nice and the shape was good and the color was bright. He made so many positive comments, but they weren't questions. They were more like giving himself a pat on the back. I wish I would've tried Southernmost Nails, but I was afraid most of the employees there didn't speak English. I wish someone else would've done my nails instead of Peter. He should just manage the shop/oversee the operations. Maybe the ladies do a better job. I got one nail repair, acrylic fill and two colors and it cost $55. Peter did apply a base coat (which some places skip and apply the get color direct to the nail extension which isn't correct). The shop itself isn't bad. It's kinda sanitary and there's a selection of colors. Peter keeps his dog, Scooby Doo, there. The dog is quiet and peaceful. Peter said he just took over the shop about 13 months ago and he's trying to turn it around . I'm so disturbed to write this bad review because Peter was a very nice guy. I should've spoken up more during the service, but I'm not convinced it would've changed anything. I wouldn't return...maybe to try someone else. Or to get a pedi by someone else. I would consider this a go-to-in-a-dire-emergency type of salon. read more

I walked in and it smells so bad. a combination of weed and acetone. peter the owner was so rude. I had an appointment and he acted like I was an inconvenience even though there were only 2 other customers in there. he made my cuticles bleed. it cost me $70 for the WORST dip I've ever seen. I said that I wanted my nails filed down a little bit. they were naturally very long. she got out the clippers and started cutting them down before I could say stop. I had them done 2 days ago and they're already falling off. it's clear she didn't know how to do dip. Peter even asked her "do you know how to do dip? you done it before?" they don't care if they do a bad job because most customers are on vacation and not coming back regardless. Only use this place is you have deep pockets!! The owner charges a ridiculous amount for each and everything, is very unfair, and inconsiderate. They do a fine job, have a great selection of colors, and Jackie does an excellent job waxing eyebrows but unfortunately I will not be back. Every time I leave there I want to cry because of all the charges they wrack up. I get that this is a luxury, I've been a salon goer for a few decades around the country and I understand business. For example, last time I was in and got a very decent dip manicure, basic (no designs, no acrylic) and it took well over an hour, my total was calculated by the dip manicure:$55, gel (because it was suggested as the colors were limited on dip colors): additional charge, and $30 to cut my cuticles!!! I recently visited Key West for a family trip. While I was there, I hit my pinky toe in the swimming pool, knocking my polish off. So, I decided to get a pedicure and fill-in done. The reduced prices are posted on the wall but are not guaranteed to be the final price for services. The whole process was completed super quickly. ( A hour and a half) I received a basic fill-in and pedicure from Ngo, and he totally made me feel like I was trapped. He asked where I was from, how long I was staying and was I a first time visitor. At the check-out counter, I was told it would be an additional $5.00 for the service. Then Ngo asked if I was going to pay cash (a total setup). I said yes, and he said it would be $140. I paid and left the salon. The lady that did my pedicure was amazing, however the manager was unprofessional and the boy who did my nails didn't do them well. During my mani, the manager continuously left his chair to go outside, answer the phone, or to run around the shop taking pictures and talking. I counted EIGHT times he left, 7 times he answered the phone in front of me, and 3 times he apologized to me. The issue is after me being understanding and having no issue with him leaving because he is the manager, I got tossed over to another person who couldn't do my nails, just for the boy who did them to rush the job. I spent $138, I wanted my money back for the mani ONLY and the manager yelled at me telling me no and that he'll fix them. (according to the picture, why would I want him to touch them again?) This was a last minute place to go and I was super happy that they took me. I went for a wax service and even though they said it was going to be an hr wait I really only waited 30 mins when I was next. The place was clean and very welcoming. There is also plenty of parking as it's located in a plaza area. Not too far from Duval strip as well. Could be a little better with the waxing as I had some wax still left behind and a few spots were missed from the wax. I like when they come behind with the tweezers but they didn't do that here. Overall it's still a go place to go and they do take walk-ins but a lot of the s places in KEY WEST really only do appointments which is why I was very glad to come here. Do not go here. This was literally the dirtiest nail salon I have ever been to. I almost walked out immediately. I should have. There was dust everywhere, nail polish splatters everywhere. The nail polish selections looked like a war zone. I had to question if the tools were clean as the sanitary bag was opened and wet inside. The new towel she used was wet in places as if it were used. When I asked her to make the polish neater on my toes, she turned to her coworker and started talking in her native language and I could tell she was complaining about me.
