FACE ON, HAIR DID!!! Have you ever freaked about about your face melting and your hair getting messed up because of the humidity? Those factors come into play when you are prepping for a wedding IN HAWAII. I'm not a local and trying to find someone trustworthy for makeup and hair required a lot of research. Found Meileen and rushed to schedule an appointment with her 2 weeks in advance. She was able to accommodate me in her busy schedule. She mentioned of a special they were having $125 for hair and makeup which is originally $150. My appointment was set for 11:30am and I had to leave the shop no later than 1pm. Meileen amazes me, she took her time with applying makeup on me and did my hair pretty quick. FACE ON I don't wear a lot of makeup, heck, I barely know how to apply my own makeup. Thankfully Meileen was there to my rescue. I wanted "warm Smokey" eyes but natural looking for afternoon outdoor beach wedding and reception that carries into the night. Also, hide my "tiredness" of jet lag and staying out late attending a foodie event - I was tired! She came with her magic boxes of makeup and got to work quickly. My face had a nice refreshed and polish look. HAIR DIDS I'll admit I was scared the humidity would just kill the hair style but Meileen is a local and knew what will hold and what won't. I showed her a picture and she applied that style and made it near exact!!! Let's be real, usually when you show someone a picture they get at least 75% close and the other 25% is the effort. Well, Meileen got it very close to exactly as I want it. Half up, volume, curls that need to last all night. I was surprised how fast she was able to get my hair styled in the short time-bomb window I had. Let's say after driving in the humidity and heat to Laie from Honolulu, beach winds, ceremony to reception, dancing on the dancefloor, back to Honolulu, my hair still looked damn good by the end of the night. Loved my look for the wedding! She's dope. And if you loved what she did, add a nice gratuity. I gave her 32%. I'll be sure to look her up next time I'm in 808 when I need to get dolled up. read more

Could I just say I'm so thankful I have stumbled upon this place bc it was just amazing!! I was looking for a makeup artist last minute for my graduation photoshoot. I probably contacted about 8 places, and 4-5 places got back to me, but I decided to go along with Studio M bc of all the positive Yelp reviews and really reasonable rate. They had a special rate for makeup only with just $70 which was the cheapest compared to all other 4 pleaded I heard back from. And the result? It did not disappoint! Dustin did a wonderful job making me comfortable, and checked in with me frequently to see if I'm ok with the makeup! He was also personable and pleasant, at the same time very professional! First of all, this review is so long overdue, MEI from Studio M is amazing, I thank God for helping me find her last minute, my wedding was May 14, 2016 and I only planned it in 4 months, after 1 test trial from another makeup artist, my aunt who was my wedding coordinator didn't like it and I wasn't too satisfied about my hair and I'm all about the hair, so I was given one of the best advice from my tan specialist and she told me it's my wedding day and not my birthday and I should look for 1 more artist and see, with only 3 more weeks until my wedding I searched here on yelp. I looked through a handful of artist and was specifically looking for someone who could nail my hair style that I really wanted because I knew makeup was very important but if this person can do better hair then that would be awesome, I finally found Studio M and saw the hairstyle and thought Wow, and saw the great reviews, I called Mei praying she would answer or call back and she did. I came to do my test late one Friday evening and she stayed very late for me and we got to know each other very well and I found out she was a Christian just like me and was very Godly and I knew right away, she was going to be good, she even told me she could do my wedding for me last minute because she knew I needed someone, and she could have someone else take her kids to their games, she is so sweet, she nailed the hair, did amazing on the makeup and she told me to tell her what I wanted differently, she also gave me a little discount, which is the bomb. The day of my wedding was so crazy, she only had 1 other assistant who was great with makeup on my bridesmaids, just took a little long on one of my girls, but Mei was amazing, she was so patient and kept me calm even though I was running around crazy and told me that I am not in control, but God is because it was also raining and I had an outside wedding, she did an absolutely fabulous job on all of my bridesmaids hairs, half up half down exactly how I imagined, different and gorgeous with flowers in their hair, and of course myself included, it was everything I ever imagined and my aunty my wedding coordinator was very satisfied. The best Make Up & Hair stylist, my gorgeous cousin-in-law Mei!!! She did a beautiful job on me for my wedding last month! There was no other MUA I wanted to beautify me on my special day! Meileen and her makeup artist she brought with her (I'm so sorry, I forgot her name, and she'll probably be so offended cause we came out of that like besties! Lol jk she was definitely a good time) but they were both so awesome and friendly and funny!! Every other makeup artist, when I tell them nothing heavy please, I always come out looking drag, followed by the excuse"oh but you'll want it to stand out for pic purposes. For my Senior Prom, I was very hesitant on who I would book to do my hair and makeup because I've had bad experiences in the past and I never wear makeup so I wanted someone that would be able to take what I had in mind and make it better.
