The space is really gorgeous, a high ceiling-ed renovated barn in the Pennsylvania School of the Performing Arts, which has all these awesome giant posters of past shows. Renee, the instructor, was very nice and helpful. I think it was a holiday and there was only one other person in the class, which made it really intimate and wonderful. The heater was a bit noisy, and I remember the music being awkwardly loud for some reason. The class itself was a bit slow and not challenging enough for my liking, but still very relaxing. My mom and sister, who don't do yoga as much, really enjoyed it and found it challenging enough. I would definitely recommend checking it out if you're in the area and find Yogasphere too crowded! Prices were reasonable from what I remember. From their website, it looks like they have class outdoors by the lily pond in the summer, will definitely have to check that out next time I'm home and it's nice out!

I have started with the 6-week intro course, led by Tracy, and it has been outstanding. She completely embodies that mantra and, without any of the OMnified gimmicks or elite yogi snideness (you know exactly what I'm talking about), she enables and empowers you to do the same. I'm not totally new to yoga, but I wanted a class to give myself some structure to cultivate a consistent, competent practice (both in a studio and at home). It's been a delightful, surprising and quite challenging 4 weeks so far! The website goes in to further detail, but classes are offered in ranges from Gentle to Moderate to Vigorous. Here it really is about "yoga" and not just showing off, like at some studios. I made two visits to the Salt Cave in the last couple of years with my most recent being a week or…read moretwo ago and had good experiences. I scheduled both over the phone with their friendly staff. I found parking on the main street, but you can find parking easy behind their building in a municipal lot. The front waiting room/retail area was clean, bright and welcoming. My first trip was a reflexology session in the main cave for a foot massage. I'll admit I was a bit skeptical of the cave thinking it was gimmicky, but it was very relaxing and the therapist did a great job on loosening me up and hitting all my pressure points! I didn't have much drainage in my sinuses like I was hoping, but everyone's different. It would be nice to bring along the wife to have a session in the cave together. On my most recent visit I had a salt stone massage with CDB oil in a regular massage room, but they have a salt stone inside. They add CDB oil for muscle relief and hot stones on the legs. I would have liked more pressure, but I still felt great afterwards. I can't say whether the CDB oil did much for me, but that was the first time I had ever had hot stones applied during a massage and I want more! Afterwards I felt loose, refreshed and very relaxed. I wish I had more time to frequent them more often, but I would definitely repeat. Thanks to everyone over at Salt Cave Newtown!
