I was only impressed with this gym for a short while. After I incurred a few injuries they were…read morevery rude to me regarding the status of my membership. When my first injury occurred I asked them if I could do the weight segment of their workout twice instead of the cardio and they told me they could not accommodate me. When my next injury occurred and I could not do the weights either I put my membership on hold but they put me through hoops to accomplish this. I could barely walk and they wanted doctor notes and x-ray results. It was pretty awful. A few months later they started bothering me again telling me I either had to return to the gym or cancel my membership. I asked if they would charge me to cancel the membership and they told me they would. I stated to them, if they cannot accommodate me and are forcing me to cancel my membership to clear their system I will not be paying one months membership when I cannot participate in the workouts. I went through a bunch more doctor notes to them and head office to prove my case. No, I would not recommend this gym.

All I have to say is if you can afford it (cuz it's pricey) do it. I was hooked and loved the…read moreentire program I just couldn't afford to stay on. Some people say you get what you pay for which in this case I agree but it's pretty steep for the average person. The staff is fantastic! You will feel like a millions bucks (don't let the first very intense session deter you). Super positive environment, encouraging, and insanely motivating, educational, feels like team work and lots of incentive! I travel a lot out of country and around Canada and was able to use part of my pass outside of the location where I purchased my membership. Also, month to month payments! Which is amazing when circumstances change in life. 4-5 stars only cuz of the price! 5 out 5 for overall experience just less a star for the price. Sorry!

On top of that, the coaches weren't even on beat during the class--it really threw off the flow and made the session hard to follow. Overall, not a great experience.

Every class requires boxing gloves; you can either bring your own or purchase/rent them from Her's. Gloves go for $32/pair and rentals are $2 per class. Each person has a punching target (Bob) used to punch and kick during the class. The instructors are very motivating and encourage the class really well when we go through the moves. They are also aware of that everyone is coming into this class is at a different level and accommodate with modifications for the moves. There is a lot of importance given to form, footwork and using the right body parts to increase power in your punches and kicks (to prevent injuries). Each workout class is 45 mins and during that time, the instructors take you through a warm up, full workout including cardio and strength training as well as a cool down. The cardio and strength components vary depending on which workout you choose. The website describes each workout really well and also tells you what level of cardio and strength is in them so you're prepared before you start. There is a mix of cardio (jumping jacks, burpees) as well as strength training moves using weights in each workout. One part of Her's that I really enjoy is the online booking system. Their calendar view of classes is really easy to navigate through and allows you to book classes up to 1 week in advance. I'd definitely recommend Hers if you're looking for a fun switch to your regular workouts!
