I was very specific about what I wanted, I painted a very vivid picture - it wasn't complicated. I expected a lot more from the stylist who claimed he had many years of experience. What I got in return was a blunt and heavy cut with no style - I asked for a trim but he ended up taking off a good two inches plus. Totally butchered it. My long-flowing locks are no more. Now I have no choice but to let it grow out for the next few months to get it back to the length I had it originally. The color was good. At least. But that's the easy part, let's be serious here.

Overall, this is one of the best hair salons I've ever been to, and I hope they're around for a while because finding a salon this good and chill is something that can take years.

My hairdresser back home in Ontario had been doing my hair for 15yrs. She knew her products, knew her job, and had major pride in her work. I have been trying to find someone like this since I got here. I really thought this one was it. They're FB reviews are great, as is their website reviews. It took me an hr and a half to get there as they are on the south shore, and I had to take public transit. Google Maps isn't up to date on their address, so I got lost. But that's not their fault at all. I guess I should start with the fact that I made an appt over a month in advance, but no one had ever called me to confirm. So I called again that morning to make sure I would be seen. My appt was for 4pm. I after getting lost, I get there and there are 2 hairstylists working, and each are braiding hair. I sat down to wait. I was super hungry after 30 min, so I asked if I had time to go and eat, and was told I should hurry. (Total B.S). So I went to eat, got back and waited....and waited..... and waited. After an hr one of the hairstylists asked me what I was getting done, and I said relax, deep condition, style with a trim. She picked a relaxer I really didn't want, so I asked if I could choose my own. She asked what I'd like, and I stated Motions. She said ok, but never even got the box. She used her choice, even after I mentioned what I'd like. I waited 3.5 hrs for someone to work on me. I didn't leave because it had taken 1.5hrs to get there and I didn't have time to go anywhere else. This was for my wedding in a weeks time. I needed it done that day. So after all of the wait I was finally seen. She was just ok. I had to ask that she trim my hair as the last stylist I went to botched that, and I needed it to be fixed. In the end when I paid, it was $105. That's more than I've ever paid, especially for such a long wait, and a lack luster job. When I checked my email, I noted I was charged $15 to trim my ends. WHAT?? So you make me wait, and instead of having pride in your work, and making my hair look the best it could, you charged me to trim off my spit ends? B.S. AND she didn't even trim my bangs or make the left and right side match, I had to do it myself when I got home. If you're going to charge me to trim my hair, then do a damn good job. Lastly her assistant offered to drive me back to the metro. But you'd think if she offered she'd know where it is. Closest one is Bonaventure or Longueuil. She drove me all the way to D'Iberville. It took me longer to get home from the metro than it did to get to the damn salon. All in all, I will NOT be returning to this salon. My hair was pretty decent, and nice and silky. But the experience I had was extremely sub par. I am not happy at all with this place. Where are the salons that give a damn? Where is the pride in your work? Unacceptable.

After having my major change screwed up at another salon a month ago (think mid-back length super thick straight hair to an awful asymmetrical pixie that couldn't be saved) I was forced to buzz my head but it was still fairly uneven. Guillaume made it perfect again with an amazing skin fade, and even dealt with my baby bang hairs that never sit right. Will be back in a week with my daughter and husband for their cuts and this is definitely now my only go to salon!

I am very particular so I went through a lot of places and their reviews before deciding on Helmet Salon for a hair cut and a completely new look after having super long hair for months!! Booking an appointment was easy and a smooth process. They booked me in for the time slot I was free and told me I would get Sacha. Got there for my haircut and met Sacha. We discussed the photos I had saved and the look I was going for at length and he was very patient and responsive! We agreed on a style and he gave me exactly the same look I was going for!!! I was very nervous, as my hair is complicated to cut. I have always had very thick, curly and long hair and was worried going in, but he promised that was his favourite type to cut. Clearly that's true because he did a great job!! Took his time with the cut, gave me a great blow dry and then straightened my hair!! Will definitely be coming by for a trim soon and would highly recommend this place and Sacha to others as well.
