Honest Review - Club Pilates Lake Mary & Altamonte Springs…read more I've been going to both the Lake Mary and Altamonte Springs Club Pilates locations (same owner). I truly enjoy Pilates and there are a couple of instructors who are amazing -- they know how to teach, motivate, and push you just enough. But overall, my experience has been disappointing. Many classes feel repetitive, using the same exact exercises regardless of the class level (1, 1.5, Sculpt, etc.). Some instructors rush through movements or give little explanation -- by the time you figure it out, the class has already moved on. Some days it honestly feels like I didn't get a workout at all. Then come the unfair fees: I was charged a "late check-in" fee even though the Lake Mary studio's check-in tablet has been broken and never replaced. Another time, I was charged for a class I never scheduled -- and when I disputed it with my bank, they added a $25 dispute fee. Even though I pay $200/month, they suspend your classes until every little fee is paid, even when the charge was in error. I love Pilates and the potential this franchise has, but members deserve fair treatment, consistency, and accountability. I hope management listens -- because when it's good, it's really good. Consistency, fairness, and communication matter -- especially when clients are paying premium prices.

The membership cost does not align with the workouts. Most of the exercises are very slow and I…read moreoften found myself almost falling asleep in some classes. The movements at Club Pilates are more like breathing exercises and stretching rather than an actual work out. If you're looking for a good reformer style workout, I wouldn't recommend Club Pilates as you won't see results. However, you may become more flexible. I suppose Club Pilates is good for someone who's looking for physical therapy movements rather than a workout. Also, the music can be very slow tempo and cause the workout to be very boring.

I've tried physical therapy, acupuncture, yoga and weights to work through my injuries to no avail. So I went in for a consult. He was the first trainer to say "OK, tell me what's going on" and listened to everything without interrupting. He asked a ton of detailed questions, wrote down a ton of notes, took measurements and walked me through the goals for each week. He gave me actionable nutrition advice that helped me stay on track even to this day. If you have scar tissue, an unresolved injury, are frustrated with your physical therapist (like I was), Jim will change your world. After the first session I had improved range of motion in my left side. He is extremely detailed oriented and will challenge you to the end but will adapt every motion to meet you where you are. He is a stickler for form and it shows because no matter how intensely I worked I was always able to work out and feel great the next day. I left every session feeling like a BAMF because he showed me that even with injuries I was capable of so much. I recommend Jim and his practice totally and completely. Wherever you are in your life, if you're frustrated, or want to simply improve your techniques, or want to overcome your injuries, Jim is your trainer.

The new Crunch Fitness in Lake Mary is still very much a work in progress, but you can already see…read morethe vision coming together. Since taking over the old 24 Hour Fitness space, they've done a solid job expanding the workout floor and--thankfully--removed the basketball courts. That extra square footage went straight into more exercise equipment, which is a big win. You'll notice a mix of the older 24 Hour Fitness machines alongside brand-new Crunch equipment, so it feels like a blend of old and new right now. The variety of machines is definitely improved, and there's more room to move around compared to before. That said, even with the expanded layout, it still gets pretty crowded during peak hours. Hopefully as construction wraps up and everything is fully dialed in, the flow improves. Overall, it's promising. Once construction is complete and things settle in, this location has the potential to be a really strong gym option in Lake Mary. For now, it's good--but not quite finished yet.

My first time experience was a disaster…read more I have never experienced a Crunch gym before, after my experience I will not be purchasing a membership. This Crunch location offers one day passes to active members to bring first timers. However, when I arrived, My friend who purchases a membership was denied a day pass and I was instead told to pay for a "free week." My solution was to get a free day pass from Crunch through their website. The staff gathered additional information and collected my license. Surprisingly, they didn't tell me that I wouldn't receive my license back until I explicitly asked. This alone made me uncomfortable enough to think about Crunch's business practices. The gym equipment is serviceable, and my experience working out without the presence of an employee was my favorite part. After returning to the front desk to collect my ID, A different gentleman with dark curly hair informed me that I wouldn't receive my license until I paid for the "free week" pass. While this might have been meant as a joke, the delivery and lack of explanation this was optional left a horrible taste in my mouth. After explaining that I wouldn't be signing up at this time, the employee began questioning me about my decision he didn't inform me I could make. He even said, "You don't have 6 cents to sign up?" while my license was still in his possession. Needless to say, after repeatedly asking for my license back it was finally given to me. The last 5 minutes of my experience ruined the past ~2hrs spent there. I will never give Crunch an opportunity to take my money after this first (and only) experience.
