I decided to go to Dat Truong based on all the good reviews here, and he did not disappoint! I first texted him my problem...a while back I got a pixie undercut, but I've been trying to grow out the top while buzzing the inside myself. Worked for a while until the top hair got longer and the uneven lengths became really obvious. So I started growing everything out, including the buzzed parts, in hopes of having more hair to work with to fix up later. He texted me back within a few hours, and we set up an appointment that same week. When I went in, we talked about what options I had; it was definitely a tricky job because of how uneven my hair was, both length and distribution...it was just a mess haha. But he was really easygoing about it, explaining a few options of what he could try. I went with the option where he cut everything short again, gave me sideswept bangs, and generally evened everything out..but now when I grow it out, it'll grow out a lot nicer. So much cleaner than the uneven mess I had before! Dat is super friendly, personable, really fun to talk to, and definitely knows his stuff. Dat Truong-Stylist at Studio B: I'm a 69 year old male. I had grown my hair long due to a combination of traveling overseas and simply wanting to have it a bit longer. Unfortunately, due to my travel, it had gotten out of control--it had been nearly three months since I'd had it cut, and it was a mess. Moreover, the last cut was a short one, like I'd been getting for quite a few years, so there was no base from which to start. I needed someone who could "rebuild" my hair from scratch, and while I'd been satisfied with my previous barber, I didn't think she was up to the task I needed done. I researched online, and found Dat here on Yelp (the first time I've ever actually used someone reviewed on Yelp). I'm glad I did. He was absolutely terrific! He textured my hair and cut it to the style that is exactly what I wanted. My wife went with me, and was so impressed she immediately made an appointment for herself, despite the fact that she's been happily using the same stylist for over three years. (She's very fussy and fastidious about how she looks, so that's saying a lot!) I too am new to Sarasota and have been on a search for a stylist. After a couple not-so-great attempts with other salons, I finally found a KEEPER in Dat at Studio B! I have really thick, long, wavy-coarse-unruly hair. I've had stylists act a bit annoyed and put out to have to cut/color my hair, but not Dat. Not only does he exude complete confidence, but he is a very positive person and I never felt awkward...in fact just the opposite...completely comfortable and I enjoyed visiting while he did his magic. I, like most women, am very picky about my hair and the stylist I let work on it. Dat is a complete Professional. He used 2 or 3 different cutting techniques/shears on my hair and took so much of the bulk out of my super-thick hair so that it styles with ease now...also, the technique he used didn't make my hair frizzy & frayed like past thinning techniques other stylists have used on me. As you can imagine, that is a godsend especially given the fact that I live in Florida! I am SO GLAD I found Dat, he has been the answer to my prayers. I can't recommend him enough. Based on the reviews here about stylist Dat Truong, I decided to go and get my hair highlighted and cut. Wow! Dat is an amazing stylist, both in color and cutting. He is so sweet and talented and has the cutest personality. Most importantly, though, he knows how to work with someone like me with fine, straight hair. I have been to countess salons in the Sarasota area, and Dat is the first stylist who knew how to cut my hair in back. I had given up hope that I would ever find anyone who could manage my difficult hair and he understood immediately what I wanted and what style would look best for me. If I can give Dat ten stars I would! I left a prior high end salon after almost 12 years and came to Dat upon recommendation. I was skeptical at first but it was the best move I've made! Dat is just very talented, his cutting technique and fast hands instilled confidence right away that this guy knows what he is doing. I have very difficult hair to deal with, straight and coarse, but with Dat's talented know how I finally have the style and cut I wanted. Not only is he a great hair stylist, he has a great personality. The studio is also very pleasant, clean and contemporary. Being a "snowbird", I relied on Yelp reviews & made an appointment with Jessica for a partial foil. She did an amazing job. My color came out perfect. I couldn't be happier. About a month ago I made a first time appointment with Jessica based on web reviews. My hair was a mess and I had no idea what a wanted, (probably a hair stylists greatest nightmare.) In very short order, Jessica assessed the situation, recommended a cut and style and went to work. The end result was perfect and manageable and a month after this experience I am STILL loving my hair (and Jessica!) Dat just colored and cut my hair for the first time. I love the color, and sure I will love the haircut, but always have to wash and blow dry myself first. Lee Neild is awesome-- see her for great color! She introduced me, a tired mom of a toddler with 6" roots and very ugly frayed highlights, to the balayage concept-- a way to bring my roots down and my highlights up in a natural, convincing way.
