I love this place. I had a recoding that I had to do for my business and I needed it to be great quality. I was concerned because I didn't know what I was doing, this was all new to me. The whole staff at Studio 770 was great and took care of all of my concerns and the product was beyond my expectations. I was thrilled with the results. 770 The studio(s) There seems to be nothing wrong with studio A. Meant for live recording and bands. Studio B- Studio B is a small closet recording area with the rest used for sitting space and an office. Which the owner will come and use during your session (which is not in the contract/ wasn't at the time) making it nearly impossible to record. The owner will also leave the door open allowing outside noise to travel in, thus complicating a limited 3 hour session. The owner will not remove herself if you ask, she would rather become cantankerous and tell you "that's her office she can do as she pleases", which again is not in any kind of contact (at the time). The equipment needs updating because it always crashes or it's just not cleared properly. Studio C- Is a complete joke. There are no plug ins, the computer always crashes, Brian (who is supposed to run/ co-own this studio) has more pride in the fact that all of his Apple decides are connected rather than his engineering system. I can't tell you how many times my session was interrupted by is incoming calls, that of course, he was not there to answer. Should anything go wrong with the system you will be blamed for not asking for help sooner or an untrained (in said studio) engineer for not knowing what to do. The engineers If you find yourself here please GO TO JUSTIN OR TROY. Anyone else is a waist of time, they hardly listen and want to have creative liberties without getting the artist comfortable. This studio runs through engineers like water... but it makes sense once you're there. The owner. She seems to be a very quiet woman, but do-not hold her feet to the fire, boy. She does not follow her own contacts and the outlines there in. She will become enraged, uncooperative, uncomfortable, and down right unprofessional, if you speak up against something wrong. With the way she speaks to people when shes in the wrong and cannot justify it, is in itself unjustifiable. Over all, this studio, unless this is a hobby, will drain money from you instead of enhancing what you are trying to do. Overall if I could give 0 stars I would and just leave this review. read more

My project is small, Just a vocal recording music over Karaoke for my hobbies. Shatih and Richard helped me to complete my project. Although I sang the songs in a different language, Richard was very patient and worked with me diligently to make me happy and satisfied with my vocal recording. My mom LOVES to sing, so for Mother's Day I surprised her and took her to Studio 770 to record an album. Mom loved it! I was extremely impressed with the owners responsiveness to my inquires. It was my first time so I had a lot of random questions but she was so kind and patient. Jenny was our engineer and we couldn't be happier. Jenny was very sweet and knowledgeable. This is a beautiful oasis recording studio located in beautiful downtown Brea. Who knew that Northern Orange County had a music scene--Indie, rock, punk, and jazz--but better yet an affordable recording studio where you can record karaoke tracks, voice-overs, and demos?! Studio 770 is awesome because it's nothing like those behemoth LA studios that are way expensive with a heavy dose of LA attitude. Shantih (the chief engineer) is helpful and low key. This is a quaint, kick-arse place where you can just sit back, and enjoy making some beautiful music. Seriously, if there is a reason to travel to the OC, this is it. I recorded a scream there last year because I wanted to be in some b grade horror movies. Look for me in Attack of the Watermelons Part IV. No, but really, this place rocks! read more

On Saturday, September 21st, 2013, my producer and I attended the 13th Anniversary and Open House event held at 770 STUDIO in Brea. A keyboardist that I collaborate with had told me about this place, but I'd never had the chance to actually come by and see the place for myself. I was AMAZED and IMPRESSED that such a high-quality, full-featured recording studio existed in Orange County at all, and particularly in the "non-glamourous" part of the county. A young woman named SHANTIH HAAST owns and runs the studio. She and her team of engineers and assistants are very kind, patient, and really know what they are doing. Their prices are very reasonable, also. They have a with at least 96 tracks of knobs and faders for monitor volume, mix and recording levels, EQ, tracking, outboard reverb and/or delay, audio compression/expansion, and a separate "patch bay" to route mic panels directly to and from any outboard device. I'm not an expert, but I could immediately tell that they have a robust, very modern platform to work with. As far as the floor plan is concerned, they have a main recording room with a Steinway grand piano in it, a separate recording room with a full drum set already deployed (tom toms and all), two isolation booths that each hold up to 2 people for laying down your vocals, and one other good sized isolation room that you can use for any instrumental solo tracks (guitar, keyboards, etc.) I don't plan to record any new material until next January or so, but when I do, my team is definitely coming HERE. The studios in L.A. and Hollywood are great, but I'd rather come here, because I'm convinced that the final output will be better, at a fraction of the cost. read more

I first called Studio 770 to find out more about the studio after searching the web and finding it on Yelp. From the first moment that I spoke to Shantih I felt at ease right away. She invited me to come and visit her studio so that I could check it out. Most of the studio that I knew about and heard of was in the Los Angeles and Hollywood area, but going with Shantih and her Studio 770 in Brea, CA, was definitely the right decision. Our album, was unique because it featured three artists: a female vocalist; male vocalist; and a pianist. The album had 2 instrumentals featuring the pianist, 3 songs featuring the female vocalist, songs, 3 songs featuring the male vocalist, and 3 duets. It needed a special kind of producer to successfully put it all together, and that producer was Shantih Haast. Shantih was amazing to work with and she put all of us at ease which allowed our musicianship to flourish during recording. She did a masterful job mixing the songs. We are now enjoying promoting and selling our cds. People always ask me who was our producer, they always ask who mixed the songs and where it was mastered.
