First time having a rent a studio for a rehearsal. This place was recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint. The reservation was easy enough, all online. Same thing with payment. It was scheduled for a Sunday evening and since I had never been there before, got there a little early. I was greeted with I walked in and showed our space. I scheduled the room 30 minutes and 30 minutes after my actual rehearsal time which gave us time to setup and tear down. It turned out to be a smart move! There was a multi-channel sound board in the room along with a guitar and bass amp. No microphones so bring your own unless you want to rent. My drummer brought his own cymbals per the website. There was another group rehearsing down the hall, but we could only hear them when our door was open, so great sound proofing! read more

I am a recent refugee from the SoundMatrix closure. I played there for over 10 years, so I wasn't looking forward to finding a new studio. Hunter and Dave made sure my first experience at Recess Studios was a great one. I reserved a room online and made my way to the super clean studio with spacious parking lot. Hunter was awesome on the phone, and Dave was great in person. The room was spacious, with pro gear. The PA was powerful and clear. The decor was very conducive to having a nice practice session. The bathroom was pleasant and welcoming, a most important quality in a studio... If I can keep my bandmates together, we'll be playing at Recess Studios for the foreseeable future. I just had a two hour band practice here last night and I gotta say the sound was great. It had such a crystal clear sound system for my dj'd tracks and the vocals cut through very nicely. The room was already set and mic'd up before I arrived their so I didn't have to worry about wasting my paid time setting up the equipment (like others places sometimes do). The guys who worked their were cool and are professional about everything. I would definitely recommend this place to a fellow musician! read more

In my opinion this is the best rehearsal studio in Orange County. I think I've played in just about all of them around here and Recess does it right. You can tell they put a lot of thought and care into their rooms and the facility as a whole. Flooring, walls, equipment, all top notch. Usually the drum kits are crap at studios, but theirs are in great condition, good heads, and tuned properly. Awesome place to have events, too. Nice work, guys! read more

Very nice equipment and very new, nice rooms. The best part for me is that they've done a great job installing lots of acoustic treatment in the rooms, which makes everything sound very good. Many other studios out there do minimal treatment (maybe carpeting on the walls at most) and you get a lot of slapback echo that makes it difficult to hear everything cleanly. But at Recess, you get nice clean sound. This is our new go-to rehearsal studio. Also, they have a nice mini-split AC system that allows you to control the temp in your room. read more

This place has the best sounding rooms compared to any other rehearsal studios around! When you walk in the front door, the first thing you see are the coolest looking wood walls. Recess Studios has the right vibe to get artistic work done! Staff is cool. You get the feeling that they are on top of their game and they want you there, unlike other rehearsal studios where you feel like you are being a pest if you ask a question. This was the place my band practiced at every week in the very beginning when they had first opened. The spot was close to my house and was a clean and NICE studio. The rooms had great materials and acoustics for playing. They are pretty large and could fit a four piece band well. Rooms have nice air conditioning. The drum sets available were awesome and sounded great. We stopped practicing there though when they raised their prices. If you are not picky about that then this place is for you. The only downside is that they only have like 2 rooms so you have to make a reservation well in advance. read more
