My experience with Studio 16 was very disappointing. I was really looking forward to my appointment, but that morning, my kids and I woke up with 104° fevers (it was the worst flu season in 15 years). When I called to cancel, they wanted to charge me $300. Eventually, they agreed to charge $150, which would go toward a future appointment if I rescheduled. When my rescheduled appointment came around, my childcare fell through, so I changed the service from a foil to a trim so I could get home quickly. My stylist was nice, but the front desk still charged me another $85. When I asked the receptionist why I was being charged so much for just a wash and trim, on top of the $150 I had already paid, she became rude and dismissive. In total, I paid $235 for a wash and trim - not even blow dried. Their policies are incredibly rigid and not accommodating for mothers or for unexpected life situations. I understand that businesses have policies, but this felt like I was being nickel-and-dimed. I even called the owner before posting this review because I wanted to give her a chance to make things right. Unfortunately, she doubled down on the policies and offered nothing. read more

My aunt had gotten her hair done for her wedding (very special day). Her hair was done by Nicole, but needless to say she didn't do a very good job. My aunt wanted and updo hairstyle with a bun and curled hair as well. It seemed like she put very little effort into my aunts hair at all and was just lazy with it, and complained when my aunts hair "wouldn't" go into a bun, so she ended bunching up some hair together and calling it a "bun". read more

Just got my eyebrows waxed. Salon was nice and clean. Carmen waxed my brows and she was amazing! Very nice and professional, the wax was one of the least painful I've ever experienced. I have very sensitive skin (it has lifted multiple times in the past), but I did not experience any of that here, plus the redness faded after a few hours. I will definitely be returning! read more

In reviewing a salon there is the stylists' performance and the salon as a business. This salon is employee based rather than stylists leasing space. Brittany has been coloring and trimming my hair for about 3 years now. She is very experienced and I've always been happy with the results. Caitlin is also excellent and very experienced. The prices vary slightly depending upon the stylist, but not equitable with their experience and outcome. Someone just finished with training is only $5 less on some services. They use Aveda products and other ethical brands which are all natural with no chemicals. There are also estheticians there for waxing and facials. I believe they only have one person doing all those services now. The vibe is upscale for Yakima. The prices were pretty much in line with other salons until recently. The owner increased the prices significantly higher than the cost of living increase. The price of a haircut increased 33% so they are hemorrhaging customers. I know 2 people who have moved to another salon and I'm considering what to do. Also, employees come and go frequently which doesn't bode well for management. read more

I've been going to the salon often on for years, people do come and go. There are long-term stylist that stick around.. last year I was working consistent days in a row and I got a reminder about my hair appointment and of course I had to work that day. I called the salon and I spoke with this rude Marissa. She said she was going to charge me on my credit card $55 for not canceling my appointment. She was the upmost rudest person I've ever spoke with she didn't care anything about my circumstances didn't bother trying to reschedule an appointment for me............ I will never recommend or go to this salon ever again it's so not cool to charge your customers $55 for not canceling an appointment and Wyatt is Marissa talking to me when I should've been conversing with my stylist bad business. read more

I had better expectations. First off the receptionist was not very friendly and was upset when she saw that I didn't "straighten my hair", when I was coming for a blow out and curl. I didn't know I had to straighten my hair, no one had told me when I confirmed the appointment so that was a bit rude. When they curled my hair, very excellent person but didnt use ANY hairspray for the curls! She only put hairspray on my stray hairs on top of my head even though I mentioned I wanted to have it stay on for as long as possible. Also! My mother was waiting for me and when an other customer came in, they offered her water but not my mother. I dont think it was racism but just tacky service and everyone employed was white which isnt as diverse as our city actually is! They should do better, customer service wise. read more

I spent a long time avoiding fancy hair salons, thinking they were overrated. I also have a hard time trusting anyone with my wiry, thick, wavy hair. My whole perspective changed when I discovered Aveda products, Studio 16, and my stylist Ashley. The health of my hair has definitely improved with the use of Aveda products. Studio 16 is a very welcoming salon that greets you with an offer of warm tea, chilled water, or even wine. And I have 100℅ confidence in Ashley's ability to handle my hair. My first visit to Salon 16 was a few weeks ago. It was a wonderful experience! All the staff was friendly and helpful and everyone seemed like they genuinely enjoyed being there. The manager Amy was very helpful and went above and beyond to help me get scheduled and to figure out what I wanted to do. Both Ashley and I think Taylre ( spelling?) worked on my hair and they were such a great team. I got a trim with some layers and half balayage done. It was the best haircut I've ever had, as I have very curly hair and it can be a Pain for a stylist to cut. I'll be going back again for more color as they were careful to protect my hair and not go so dramatic on the color the first time around. Ashley really took her time to listen to me and what I was looking for and overall did a great job with my hair. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great, professional salon. Oh, by the way....if you are an animal lover they have a salon dog that is perfectly at home and comfortable in the shop. One more thing...they are kid/family friendly which can be hard to find when you are looking at a more upscale salon. read more

I was charged $200 for Mackenzie to give me a 'naturally sunkissed look', that was way too warm and not what I asked for. I wanted all over highlights on my hair, and would have been happy to pay that ridiculous amount if I actually liked the outcome. I've been getting my hair done here for about a year and have enjoyed each experience. The salon is clean and modern looking, and the stylists are all friendly. I usually have my hair done by Mackenzie who takes her time to make sure the cut looks good. The haircut is usually around $30 and if I get highlights it's about another $70. I went here when Kelsey worked here, but when I called to book another appointment they said she was no longer there, and did not give an explanation. I'm willing to go back, but I miss having someone there who knew my hair plan and knew exactly how to cut my hair! I LOVE this place! We used this salon for my bridal party and the moms on my wedding day. They moved heaven and earth to fit our large party in at the last minute and never made my bridesmaid or I feel as though we were a burden, even if we were kind of a pain. lol We had 2 stylists (Mackinzie & Sara) and an aesthetician (Brandy) tied up for the morning. They all seem to genuinely enjoy their jobs, we felt they actually cared about our satisfaction, and were great with our Jr Bridesmaid. These girls are gracious, personable, helpful, sincere, and just plain fun! Andi, the owner, is very down to earth and friendly. Mackensie and Bree are AMAZING. Mackensie effortlessly whipped my hair into a timeless, stunning 20s era updo during my bridal consultation, and then on my wedding day she replicated the same updo but polished it up even more and it was PERFECT. She and Bree traveled from Yakima to Roslyn to our mountain lodge, arrived on time, set up in our upstairs bathroom, and transformed all of the ladies into hair masterpieces. Maddie did a great job coloring my hair. This was the first time I'd seen her and she was easy to work with, a real pro. The salon was also flexible with me when I was snowed in and had to cancel. Maddie saw me the next Monday, a day when the salon is usually closed. To top it all off, they invited my new puppy in for a visit and Dash, the official Studio 16 salon dog was patient and sweet while the puppy jumped around biting him and licking his face. When I moved to yakima from Southern California my hair and scalp went completely crazy. I had really bad dandruff and a really raw pink scalp. With getting a scalp treatment almost every single month for the past 2 years, my scalp is now happy and so is my hair. My hair grows so fast now. All the women at the salon are so amazing! I also see Dana at the salon and get facials and waxing. When I say they take care of you there they really do. They make you feel welcomed as soon as you step foot through the door. read more

HORRIBLE! Do not go! I saw Veronica, she bleach burned my hair off! I use to work in an Aveda salon and I expect SO much more. My roots weren't even done in the back of my hair. I had spots all over (looked like a leopard). When I contacted the salon they never contacted me back after I gave them a full week. Aveda shouldn't let them call themselves a concept salon because it's so rude to not even reply. I should have read other reviews because seems like others had the same problem. At least they could have gave me my money back. Please just save your hair and go somewhere else; even great clips would never burn my hair off by leaving bleach on too long. I'm so disappointed. I will be contacting Aveda about this salon immediately with my pictures!! read more

what can I say this place is really excellent at service very nice and convenient and really good at scheduling, even some of the hair stylist lack mens haircuts but what can I say its really good overall especially this one stylist sarah she is really good and knows her stuff I'm glad I stopped by, out of all the haircut places this is by far the best one. I could give it a 5 but because only one stylist was able to do good on a guys haircuts just ignore the 4 star rating just try it yourself you'll see what I mean. read more
