This was invaluable, as we were living on the opposite coast during construction! Jentry McGraw helped us with selection of every interior and exterior color and finish, with flooring, cabinetry, plumbing fixtures, lighting, tile, appliances, floor coverings and furniture. We found Jenny and her team via her online portfolio, and it was immediately clear that we hit the jackpot with her. Our project included removing a weight-bearing wall to open up the kitchen and dining room, and expanding the kitchen into the adjacent laundry room and powder room, significantly altering the layout of our downstairs. We also replaced the downstairs flooring and lighting, and converted a wood burning fireplace into a beautiful focal point with a built in gas fireplace. When we saw the value that Jenny brings to a project, we also renovated 3 bedroom closets, and replaced baseboard, trim, paint, and fixtures in the primary bedroom. Jenny and her team are beyond amazing. They organized an extensive scope of work, clarifying who was responsible for each step, whether builder, her team, or client. She followed up on every detail, handled all the vendors, and kept to the ambitious timeline. Jenny quickly got a sense of our taste, and presented beautiful design options each step of the way. We feel our final project is truly ours, reflecting us perfectly, though we never had to go to a tile store or home furnishing shop, which we had clarified was our preference. The Jentry McGraw team was on-site weekly during construction, and Jenny used her excellent people skills and rapport with our builders to settle for nothing short of excellence. This included fine attention to detail and positioning of built-in features, things that I could not envision in the building phase, but definitely would have noticed being askew or off-center in the final build. We are absolutely thrilled with our final project, and know without a doubt that we could not have accomplished it without Jenny and her team. We feel great about having invested in a designer to guide our project. We'll use Jenny and her team for any of our renovations going forward; they are absolutely awesome!

Aging and thus unrepairable ovens forced us to go ahead. To our delight, we're totally elated with the new kitchen. We found Susan Lund by chance at a kitchen-open house, and later interviewed her and one of her main competitors. Susan was the clear choice. We are extremely satisfied with her work. She immediately saw a major way to improve the kitchen floor plan, something we would have missed had we done it on our own. Her knowledge of suppliers and contractors was impressive and her advice and service was professional and prompt. Her assistant Jenn is also very good to work with, and together they make an outstanding team. We just wish we had done it sooner.

My friend decided that he didn't have time to deal with the endless revisions required by the city, and I soon discovered that architects don't take over projects that are so far along. I was in a horrible bind of having a project mid-construction incapable of moving forward. I got a reference for Laura, and she picked up her own phone, seemed super sympathetic and offered to take a look at the drawings to see what needed to be done. She then called me back and told me that if I used a different type of insulation, I wouldn't need these complicated drawings that the inspector required. Brilliantly simple, totally solved the issue in a pragmatic way after a 15 minute intervention. We recently remodeled our kitchen and used Humanity Home & Cabinetry for the kitchen design and…read morecabinetry. In late 2019, the company expanded into a huge new showroom in Santa Rosa. When we started working with them in the spring of 2019, they were in a tiny office with very limited abilities to showcase products. As a result, I had to do a lot of searching on the Internet to vet the cabinetry they were pitching. Not sure whether you can get into the new showroom at the present time due to COVID, but if so, you can easily see the lines they offer right at the showroom. Our designer Jessica Ivie was our primary contact point throughout our kitchen design and remodel. She has an excellent sense of color and is skilled at paint matching and finding colors that complement your existing decor. If you are looking for someone to tell you what to do, she is the designer for you. Jessica is extremely organized and skilled at follow-up, and both are characteristics that are absolutely indispensable in any remodel project. In fact, she provided more oversight for our project than our contractor did. I was a little worried that since Jessica was not a cook that our kitchen design might be lacking, but in fact we have been very happy with the new layout she created for our kitchen. During the COVID shelter-in-place, we've had plenty of time to vet the new layout. We are enjoying the ease of access to previously inaccessible items, the beautiful backsplash, better lighting with under cabinet as well as overhead lights, warm colors, and clean design. The kitchen has gotten a workout and has delivered beyond our expectations. The only really negative aspect of working with HH&C occurred late in the project. Jessica helped us select a gorgeous glass backsplash that was from a brand new backsplash vendor. Much later in the project Jessica also suggested we get matching glass switch plates. Unfortunately, because she had never used a glass switch plate in a previous project, she did not realize that the flat backs of glass switch plates require a different approach to cutting out the openings for the plates in the backsplash or a different installation of the electrical boxes. As a result the glass plates could not be installed flush with the backsplash, which the electrician said would make them likely to break. The resolutions would have been costly that late in the project. Instead we opted to use different switch plates and asked for a refund. We did receive a refund for the plates, but Jessica's boss Kelly Silverstein made it clear she was not happy about giving us a refund. She suggested we wanted a refund because we didn't like the plates instead of acknowledging that HH&C had recommended a product that would not work given what the contractor's expectations for switch plates had been up to that point. We were shocked at her reaction about the refund since the refund amounted to less than 1% of our total purchases from HH&C for cabinets, backsplash, sink, etc. I have no doubt that our contractor invested considerably more in time and labor to rectify the whole switch plate issue than HH&C did in providing us with a small refund. By contrast, our contractor did not charge us any additional fees. It was a shame that we walked away from HH&C with such a bad taste in our mouth right at the end of the project. I would highly recommend Jessica as a designer, but because of our perception of Kelly's lack of customer service, I lowered the number of stars for HH&C from 5 to 4.
