I gave on star because I had to but this should get ZERO. I…read morehired Matt of MBC construction November 2016 to start a job in January 2017. I gave him 1/3 of what I was quoted for the job. I had a quote from another contractor and he looked at it stating he could do the same for the same price. January came and left and I was told that he was backed up due to the snow storms we had been having and had some emergency roof repairs and was also shoveling roofs as well. I understood. Then the snow melted and the next excuse was the rain was causing him to be delayed because the job he was doing was outside. Fine. I understood. Then came April. My neighbor was here and he came by to get a key and said we are ready to start... I am all yours. Well that was not the case. He only spent a couple hours here and there with the work he needed to do before getting his sub contractors involved. What should have taken a week at the most to demo the wall from the kitchen to the livingroom and the wall to the porch to make it a 4 season extension off the kitchen took 3 weeks to a month. We have a cat and a dog during this and he would work with the doors opened knowing there was a possibility they could get out so I had to crate my dog when I was not home and put the cat in our office with the door shut (the cat meowed so loud the people that lived 2 streets over could hear him). He would smoke outside and throw his cigarette buts on our front lawn, stairs and in the back yard. I would leave for work at 8:45am and he was no where to be seen and would show up between 11am and 2pm and only stay for a couple hours. He told us if he had to he would work weekends and there was a Sunday (June 11th- it was my birthday) where he said he would be at our house in the morning and never showed. My husband texted him and an hour or 2 later he called back and made it feel like we were inconviencing him when he told us he would be at our home to work on our job and never even gave us the courtesy to let us know he wasn't coming at all. When it was time for the sub contractors to come in they were spaced out far apart. They subcontractors that did our floors were amazing but Matt told us we could have access to the upstairs (we live in a raised ranch). That was false, so we had to find someone to take our cat for a couple days, have our daughter sleep over our neighbors and my husband and I had to sleep in the basement on a 3 cushion sectional/lounger (mind you he is 6'2"). There were parts missing when the kitchen cabinets were installed, but rather than working on other aspects of the job (like the siding to the porch) he insisted (almost demanded ) we give him part of the last installment to finish the job. When we refused, he didn't come around because he said he needed to make money and started other jobs. Now mind you , I paid for all the materials, (granite, cabinets, flooring, etc) and gave him the first 2 of 3 installments plus an additional 5,000 for the porch renovation (which i feel we were ripped off). Even after the kitchen cabinets were done we had to pull teeth just to get him to come to finish the siding which he hired subcontractors for. All the subcontractors were great. What I should have done in retrospec, is pay the contractors directly and whatever was left over for the quote of the job should have been given to Matt. I will NOT recommend him or refer him to anyone. If it wasn't for the subcontractors the renovations would still not be done. Unfortuneatly he has given me a bad taste in hiring a a small business in the future and that sucks for those small business owners that have their shit together.

Rob and his team at RP Wilkinson Construction were incredible, from the first point of contact with…read moreRob, to the final clean-up of the site when they were finished. Here are some of the reasons why: Responsiveness and Communication: When we initially called Rob for an estimate, he got back to us that same day. Throughout the process, he let us know exactly where they were at with the project. Thorough Estimate: Rob came over and performed a three hour estimate/consultation with us, free of charge. He left no rock unturned, telling us all of our different options (from a pressure treated wood deck to a Trex deck with all of the different options and colors that come with it) and the pros and cons of each. There was absolutely no pressure to up-sell, which leads to the next point: Complete Willingness to Work - and Stay - Within Our Budget: We told Rob what our budget was and he maximized the deck space within it. Quality of Construction: The deck was impeccably designed and built. His three man team worked their tails off every day. Mike, the "quarterback" of the team, has built hundreds of decks, to give you a sense of how much experience they have. Complete Satisfaction: After the final walk-through, Rob told us that if we later see something that doesn't look right, we should call him and he will come out and make it right. That gave us peace of mind. When the job was finished, their clean-up was so meticulous that there wasn't a trace that any construction had just been performed. They even took a Shop Vac to our yard to collect the remaining sawdust! And finally, Rob is a Genuinely Nice Guy: Here is an example. Somehow, we got to talking about how my basement has been flooding and Rob recommended a product to seal the crack in the wall. Then he even offered to buy a tube of the sealant from the hardware store that he had to buy some stuff from that day. Or, another example: there was a little space left over in the dumpster that they used to throw away the debris from the old deck. Rob asked us if we had anything that we wanted to throw away before they removed the dumpster. Acts of kindness like that really made an impression. I strongly recommend calling Rob for an estimate if you are thinking about building a new deck. We couldn't be happier.

We recently had our deck completely rebuilt by Boston Framers and we couldn't be happier with how…read moreit came out. We actually got their name directly from the deck manufacturer, who told us Boston Framers was excellent and highly recommended them. After working with them, I can see why. They started exactly when they said they would and showed up every day to keep the job moving. They even worked some weekends to get everything completed, which we really appreciated. Their carpenters were excellent. The workmanship was meticulous, the materials were all top quality, and you could tell they really cared about doing the job right. The price was very competitive, especially for the quality of work we received. I also made a few minor changes along the way, and they were very easy to work with and accommodated the changes without adding extra charges. It's not easy to find a contractor that is reliable, fairly priced, uses quality materials, and takes this much pride in their work. Boston Framers checked all those boxes for us. We're extremely happy with our new deck and would absolutely recommend Boston Framers to anyone considering a deck or other construction project. Five stars without hesitation.

Brutal experience with them back in 2022-2024. Would take weeks and, more than once, even months…read moreto get them to come back and do any work (see screenshots of my text interactions with them -- note the dates). They were supposed to build a new rubber roof. It started leaking on 3 separate occasions (which btw was never fully fixed -- we moved on to different contractors who did address the issues). And like I said, it would take months for them to actually come back and attempt to fix anything. Often they'd come by, look at the damage, then I wouldn't hear from them for multiple weeks. Meanwhile, more damage continues to accrue to the walls and ceilings. The internal fixes they applied for the water damage were just patch jobs. They just plastered and painted over. Meanwhile, the insulation behind the wall was soaked and accrued black mold that we had to address later. Also worth pointing out a major blunder at the beginning of the project (see attached videos and pics). They opened up the roof, and left it open for multiple days without doing any work. Well of course a major rainstorm came by (which was on the weather forecast well in advance). Alll that water poured into the house in the middle of the night setting off fire alarms. It was a nightmare to deal with on my end.
