I loved it! The beers are very tasty and the service is awesome! I also think it's awesome how they have a car series of beers! Bathe yourself and history, while visiting this beautiful, historic home in downtown South Bend!! In addition to the brewery on the second floor, there's also Tippecanoe restaurant on the main level. This is such a fabulous setting! I tried six flight samples, and although all of the beer was good, I felt that only one was truly noteworthy (Sceptre Juicy). They have a full bar, which is fantastic if you are with non-beer drinkers (my wife have wine). Service from the bartender was exceptional! Regrettably, we were not able to spend much time here, and did not have any of their food. Although this brewery is located in a more refined setting, dress code is casual so feel free to come as you are. The brewery itself likely has seating for apx 40-50 guests. Highly recommend a visit! read more

Having grown up in the South Bend area and having been to Tippicanoe place for Mother's Day brunch many many many times, when I learned they had a brewery in the upstairs area I was excited to try it out. Wevisited on Thursday evening and aside from us there were only two other couples there. UnDaunted we sat at the bar and ordered some flights. Our bartender was pleasant and told us if we wanted food to get our order in. We ended up ordering fry duo and chicken wings. While we waited for the food to arrive. we tried the beers. They were all just OK and fine for a one and done situation . Our food arrived and we were pretty underwhelmed. The chicken had good flavor, but were badly cooked as there was no crispiness at all. The fries were horrible. It came with sweet potato fries and regular traditional french fries. The sweet potato fries were at least warm, the regular fries tasted as though they had been sitting around for hours cold mush, gross. I mentioned it to our bartender and she said "yeah they just can't ever get the fries right" which is information that would've been super helpful when she knew that we ordered them! We finished our beer and before we left visited the bathroom. They closed at 9 o'clock. We went to the bathroom at 8:58. At 9:01 they already turned off all of the lights and locked the door. Mind you we were on the third floor and still had big stairs to go down. One of the workers saw us on the stairs and said "oh shit there's still people here" then they escorted us to the door (in the dark) unlocked the door And ushered us out. It was creepy and incredibly offputting. I get totally wanting to go home on a slow evening but yikes. So not a great experience. I don't think we will return. read more

Amazing food and , most importantly to us after a long day of driving, amazing beer. Staff was kind and helpful. This place is gorgeous! I walked in thinking I needed to be wearing a ball gown but the place was so welcoming. I did a flight and all four beers were great. I think I liked the cran-orange best. We also got some margarita pizza and my dad had the pulled pork sandwich. I stole some of his Mac and cheese and 10/10 would recommend. Erica (the great bartender lady) asked if we saved room for dessert and thankfully we did. We had the New York cheesecake and it was delightful. Honestly Erica also kind of made the trip. This place is all about ambiance and great beer with fabulous service and pretty good food. The location is the stunning Studebaker mansion. Plenty of free parking and nice views from the dining room. I was intrigued after having some of their draft beer at a different eatery. I went for the Sunday brunch and had the crab cake Benedict (tasty but everything on the plate is soft, kind of a dull texture after a while) and chocolate flourless cake which was subpar. I would definitely come back for the location, tasty beer, and incredibly friendly and helpful service. But I would likely order something different. read more

What a fun little spot on the upper level of the Tippecanoe Place restaurant/mansion! We stopped in for a drink on a recent trip to South Bend while walking around the city. They were still serving many of the beers that were made for this year's May the Fourth festivities. The milk stout and mead were both so good! And definitely worth a visit for history buffs. It's a fun place to visit simply for the history factor of the Studebaker family and business. The food was ok, regular bar food. Beer was ok, nothing real special. We stopped in on a recent Sunday afternoon to the newly opened Studebaker Brewing Company located on the third floor of Tippecanoe Place. The space previously hosted the bar/lounge for Tippecanoe Place and not much has changed. There were only a couple other folks in the place and one bartender working. My husband and ordered a flight of four beers (five offerings were on tap along with a full bar and other bottled beer). A couple of the beers have potential, but there was a strong chemical taste. We first thought it was from the solution used to wash the glasses, but it was very distinct with two of the beers - maybe attributed to new brewing equipment?? Whatever the cause, it was unpleasant. They do offer food with what seemed to be a BBQ themed, but we opted to share an appetizer. We ordered the pretzel bites with beer cheese. The pretzels were just the standard frozen pretzels; however, we were told the beer cheese was made in house. The cheese dips seemed to be the standard cheddar cheese sauce out of a can that may have been doctored up with a splash of beer. I think we'll let them work out some of the kinks before venturing back! read more

Had dinner at Studebaker Brewery/ Tippacanoe Place. First of all, outstanding historical building! Even before entering, it's obvious this place is steeped in history. And the inside doesn't disappoint! Do yourself a favor and make sure to check out all 4 levels of this marvelous mansion, from the one-of-a-kind master staircase, to the portraits on the top floor. We dined on the first floor in the main dining room. The entire selections were well explained. The drinks were fantastic. My wife chose the rack of lamb while I had the 8oz steak. Both were fantastic. We are foodies from Cincinnati and we chose this place by the photos alone and I'm glad we did! Highly recommended! read more

Interesting place. We had trouble finding it since it was not well marked. We finally found it in an old building with steps leading up to the second level bar. The bartender was super nice. We had drinks, prime rib and a hamburger. The food was really good. There were a couple tv's playing sports on them. We enjoyed the ambiance of the bar as it had original wood and was warmly decorated in red. We aren't from there, but we live close enough in Indiana to get back there again. After waiting 2 hours, still no food, terrible service we were ignored, no management in sight.... We left!.

My husband and I went here for lunch today. It is on the top floor above Tippacanoe Place. It opened at noon and we got there at noon. We went to the top floor and there was no one to be found. We were there alone for about 5 minutes and were about to leave. The bartender showed up and said we could sit where we wanted. My husband got two different beers and really liked both of them and they were pretty reasonably priced. We ordered their spicy shrimp appetizer which was one of the best shrimp dishes I have ever had! My husband ordered the grilled brisket and cheese sandwich with fries. I ordered the grilled chicken with Gouda cheese on a pretzel bun with a side salad. It took quite awhile for our food to come. My husband's sandwich was delicious. Here is where it goes WAY downhill. My sandwich was inedible. It was so overcooked that I almost had to spit it out it was so dry and chewy. But it was lukewarm at best. McDonald's would have been embarrassed to serve the lettuce and tomato that was on it. It looked almost as bad as it tasted. But wait, it gets worse. The bartender that was our server NEVER CAME BACK TO CHECK ON US! There were maybe 3 other parties in the place and we were literally in a booth just down from the bar. I ate my okay salad and shared my husband's fries which were lukewarm and floppy but okay tasting. I had to finally call her over and there was my pitiful sandwich. She didn't say she was sorry she didn't come check on us. She did say she was sorry the sandwich was bad. She didn't offer to get me anything else. She took the sandwich off the bill but didn't take the salad off which was my side. I think for the terrible service we got my whole meal should have been comped. So there you have it...we won't go back. read more

What a hidden secret in South Bend! My husband and I came in for the day from Chicago and had to check out Studebaker Brewing Co. We absolutely love checking out the craft beer scene when we travel and this place did not disappoint. We ordered flights to start; the staff were very knowledgeable about their beers and the brewing process. Beers were smooth and flavorful but not too hoppy. We shared a few small plates (again one of our favorite things to do) and loved the Burnt Ends Mac n Cheese, Tenderloin Tidbits, and Chopped Salad. I ended up ordering a pint of the Golden Hawk Session IPA- delish! Atmosphere was great- what more can you ask for than to be belly up to the bar, watching football, and drinking local beer. I was there for lunch on Friday afternoon with my husband. Ericka our bartender was incredible! I'm not a beer drinker but wanted to try one of their craft beers. Her suggestion was perfect. Update: manager did contact us to resolve this issue which made the situation better. He handled it very professionally, apologized, and mentioned steps taken to hope that this doesn't happen again for any customer. We will hopefully go back in there again and receive better experience! We had absolutely TERRIBLE service! We had a call ahead reserved party for 12 for a birthday party and I swear every thing that could possibly go wrong went wrong. All of our tickets weren't put in right. Drinks were put on wrong bills, food was served cold, meat was dry and so was the Mac n cheese. We were there later after the rush died down and service was still soooooo slow and terrible! Empty cups with no offers of refills. No compensation or apologies for wrong orders...the list goes on. The whole situation was unprofessional and poor service at its fines they read more

Dined here tonight with my 7 and 4 year old. The new menu is great! My son tried the BBQ pulled pork fries (he got an appetizer as a meal). My husband had a salmon. My daughter had the Mac and cheese. The fries were my favorite. We also tried the creole shrimp and the creme brulee. These were fantastic. It was fun to show my kids around the mansion and let them experience the history of the place. I'd recommend this place if you're looking for some local flavor and want to get a feel of real South Bend. read more
