It's the kind of store where you can spend a while just looking around. The service was friendly and helpful. Even the bottle is charming--the design uses an 18th-century botanical illustration from the Colonial Williamsburg archives. The tea was delicious and felt like the perfect Williamsburg find. It was a scorcher outside that day, or I would have bought more chocolate to take home! Super cute shop and definitely worth popping into while exploring Williamsburg.

My husband and I travel occasionally between central Virginia and Virginia Beach, usually on…read moreInterstate 64. We recently decided to "see something new" by taking the slower, less familiar route. Despite having lived in Virginia for over 30 years, we didn't realize that we would be traveling through some of the counties where Virginia's famous peanuts are grown. The first billboards near Waverly caught our attention, but we didn't stop at the first shop that was advertised. We decided that, if there were any other peanut shops, we would stop because Virginia peanuts would make a perfect present for our upcoming visits with some non-Virginia friends and relatives. Thankfully, we found Adam's Peanuts and Country Store soon after. As others have mentioned, Adam's is a true country store, with country smoked hams in crates as you enter, homemade jams and jellies, a dizzying array of peanuts (raw, boiled, salted, chocolate-covered, and more), plus much more. As mentioned, we were there for the peanuts, and ended up buying a whole box full -- about $140 worth to be precise. The quality of the nuts is top-notch, and we appreciated the variety of the products. The prices also weren't too bad though my husband tends to compare these to the giant canisters from Costco! The ambiance of the shop was also country comfortable. My 3-star rating mostly reflects the lack of attention from the elderly shopkeepers. While others on Yelp have characterized them as friendly and helpful, that was not our experience. While we were the only customers upon entering, neither greeted us when we came into the store. My husband asked if they had any samples of the nuts for us to try to help inform our decision on which nuts to buy. They didn't, and they seemed befuddled by the question. Finally, in checking out, I tried to engage them in a conversation about peanut growing in the county, to no avail. March, 2025.

Meal took quite a while to arrive (10 minutes after ordering). All chicken tenders were served nearly black. Very hard pieces and overly salted. Ranch was ok, awesome sauce was ok, but it's just bbq with honey mustard. Wanted to use the sweet and spicy sauce but there was no spice whatsoever. Original 49 sauce tasted off. Cheesy potatoes were just huge pieces of potatoes with corn flakes over it and covered in oil/grease. Couldn't have proved it ever saw a shred of cheese. Had no interest in even eating 1/4 of it. Feel like I've hit my grease limit for the week after it. Fries and Mac & cheese were ok, husband enjoyed the pork sandwich but chose not to eat the bun since it seemed stale and overcooked altogether. The bathrooms are out back, thankfully it wasn't raining when we needed them. The whole bathroom was moist from a recent mopping, floor was soaked and slick. The music was loud praise music, something we find rightfully unsettling. Felt like we walked into a church or conservative rally instead of a roadside bbq pit. Living 3 hours away otw home from a trip we can thankfully mark this off the list of ever visiting again. Do not recommend.

There's nothing sweet about her treats! I wanted to treat my 6yr old daughter to an ice cream cone…read morebefore we left the mall, so we went there. There was an elderly female behind the counter on her phone. She looked up from her phone and wanted to know what we wanted to buy. No greeting, or smiles( not welcoming at all) . I told her ice cream. My daughter was undeceive, so she did tell my daughter all of the kind of ice cream and cones she had. I gave her our order ( mines was one scoop strawberry ice cream on a waffle cone ) when she handed me my daughter's cone, my daughter said she wanted cookies n cream and looked very disappointed. I told the lady that my daughter wanted cookies n cream. Then the lady appeared annoyed and said that's not what I asked for, and didn't offer a solution, so I told the lady if she can just make my cone so I can just cash out and leave. Then she tries to serve me a vanilla cone. I told the lady that I asked for strawberry, not vanilla. She accused me of lying, and said she can check her video camera and I needed to buy her ice cream, or she would call the cops on me and tell them I stole ice cream from her shop. Mind you my 6yr old daughter is hearing all of this. I was horrified! I put the cone she handed to me for my daughter back on the counter and just simply left. As I was about to open the doors to leave, I look behind me and she's running behind me and my daughter with her phone out. Once we made eye contact she turned back around and left . I told the Security officers what happened and they didn't look surprised. They said to pay her no mind and to just keep walking to my vehicle. Then they started complaining about the way she treats people. I did call the police as soon as I got into my Vehicle and they said that situation wasn't a crime and I can make a complaint to management. That woman was unprofessional, unwelcoming, desperate for sales, confrontational, disrespectful, and very threatening for running behind my daughter and I. I like to support small local businesses in the community, however be aware of this one! ‼
